“RuPaul’s Drag Race” returned to VH1 on February 28 with the debut of season 11. And were Gold Derby’s predictions correct that Kahanna Montrese would be eliminated this week?
In last week’s premiere, she came perilously close to being bounced but Soju went home instead. Kahanna, a 25-year-old showgirl from the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas, showed off her deft dancing. Soju, a 27 year-old from La La Land, was determined to prove that her talent extended beyond her YouTube blogging. However, she could not keep up with Kahanna,...

Every queen enters the workroom with a backstory, and as you’re about to learn, Mercedes Iman Diamond‘s is one of unimaginable pain caused by systemic oppression.
The Minneapolis-based queen opens up during an emotional scene from tonight’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race (VH1, 9/8c), revealing that she’s had to drive to most of her gigs because she’s been unable to fly.
“I’m originally from Mombasa, Kenya, and my name sounds Muslim, so they put me on the watch list,” she says in TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek above. “I’m like, ‘I’m a drag queen.

At the risk of birthing yet another RuPaul’s Drag Race conspiracy theory, doesn’t it kind of feel like the odds were against Season 11 hopeful Soju from the start?
Think about it for a minute: Not only was she paired with Pork Chop — the franchise’s first-ever eliminated queen — in Thursday’s season premiere, but she also unknowingly picked the same workstation formerly occupied by Vanessa Vanjie Mateo last year. Even Soju acknowledges, “I was setting myself up for failure, girl.”

VH1 revealed the 15 queens who will be competing on the upcoming 11th season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” on Thursday, including at least one familiar face.
In a live stream hosted by last season’s champ Aquaria and Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, the 15 queens were introduced individually and given the chance to show what they’ve got before the season debuts.
No premiere date for the new season has been announced, but fans of the show still have the ongoing fourth installment of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” which airs new episodes every Friday on VH1.
