Boy Kills World looked to be a cool action flick – and JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray said it was in his 8/10 review, where he wrote, “I had a total blast with this demented actioner.” But even with producer Sam Raimi’s name on the film, it didn’t draw in much of an audience during its theatrical run. According to The Numbers, it only made $3 million worldwide. Now it’s heading to home video, where hopefully it will have more success. Boy Kills World is getting a digital release next week, on May 28th, and Amazon is already accepting pre-orders at This Link.

The sci-fi thriller Companion is coming our way from writer/director Drew Hancock and the team behind the 2022 horror hit Barbarian… but even though nearly a year has passed since the project assembled its cast and went into production, we still know very little about it. It has managed to stay shrouded in secrecy all this time. Which is a good thing, since its release date is still several months away. Deadline broke the news that Companion won’t be reaching theatres (including IMAX screens) until January 10, 2025.
That release date gives Companion a one week head-start on Blumhouse Productions and director Leigh Whannell’s reboot of the classic Universal Monsters property Wolf Man.
New Line Cinema went all-in on a partnership with Barbarian (watch it Here) writer/director Zach Cregger and the film’s producers at BoulderLight Pictures. New Line came out the winner in a bidding war over Cregger’s next film,...

The new adaptation of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot is no longer getting a theatrical release. Originally scheduled to debut in theaters way back in September 2022, New Line has now confirmed it will stream on Max instead.
The announcement didn’t include a premiere date but did state that it’s expected to arrive on streaming in 2024.

The cast is led by Lewis Pullman as Ben Mears and includes Alfre Woodard as Dr. Cody, Makenzie Leigh as Susan Norton, and Bill Camp as Matthew Burke.
Spencer Treat Clark plays Mike Ryerson, Pilou Asbæk is Straker, and John Benjamin Hickey is Father Callahan.

Stephen King fans, rejoice! The fate of the film adaptation of "Salem's Lot" has been up in the air over the past couple years, despite revealing footage from the project at CinemaCon back in 2022. Not even Stephen King himself knew what was going on with the film's potential release, though he wasn't shy about singing the praises of the movie from filmmaker Gary Dauberman, the director of "Annabelle Comes Home" and co-writer of "It" and sole writer of "It: Chapter Two." Thankfully, fans no longer have to ask when they'll be able to see the new "Salem's Lot" movie, because we finally have an idea of when it will be released. But it won't be in theaters.
Max has officially announced that "Salem's Lot" will debut on the streaming service sometime in 2024. They didn't give a specific release date or even a season of the release, but at least the...

Max has made it official that New Line’s feature take of Stephen King’s 1975 bestselling novel Salem’s Lot isn’t going in theaters, but on the Ott service this year. No exact date has been announced.
The buzz of this was heavily out there. It’s sort of an upset to Warner Bros Discovery: CEO David Zaslav has emphasized how he’s about theatrical, and how he doesn’t believe in straight-to-streaming movies. Salem’s Lot was expected to be another big play for New Line in the revived Stephen King big screen universe following the massive $1.1 billion global grossing success of the It franchise. In fact, the co-writer of that movie, Gary Dauberman, directed, adapted and executive produced Salem’s Lot. The movie originally occupied the post Labor Day space of 2022, a frame made rich by Warner Bros with Stephen King and Conjuring horror fare, until they pulled the...

Fresh out of movie theaters, Lionsgate’s horror movie Cobweb is now available at home on Digital, and the film has also just been released onto DVD and Blu-ray today, September 12.
The feature directorial debut of Samuel Bodin, creator of Netflix’s “Marianne,” Cobweb was released in limited theaters in July with very little promotion and very little fanfare, and it ended up being so hard to find that most fans didn’t even get a chance to see it.
Now you can watch the movie at home, and to whet your appetite we’re sharing an exclusive sneak peek at the bonus features package for the just-released Cobweb Blu-ray.
This is a particularly cool bonus features clip because it reveals the film’s monster – Big Time Spoilers – which was played by a contortionist wearing a practical monster mask.

When Lionsgate first announced that they were developing a genre project called Cobweb, the company – which had previously brought us horror films like The Devil’s Rejects, Cabin Fever, the Hostel films, and of course the Saw franchise – said they were doing so with the intention of taking back their “ownership” of horror. But the movie doesn’t seem to have made much of an impact since reaching theatres at the end of last month. We previously heard that Cobweb will be getting a Blu-ray, DVD, and digital release on September 12th (copies of the Blu-ray and DVD releases can be pre-ordered at This Link)… but now it has been revealed that the digital release is actually going to happen this Friday, August 11th! The digital version of the film can be pre-ordered right Here.

Four and a half years ago, Lionsgate – a studio that had once been a prominent force in the horror genre, with releases like The Devil’s Rejects, Cabin Fever, the Hostel films, and of course the Saw franchise – announced that they were developing a genre project called Cobweb with the intention of taking back their “ownership” of horror. The film was given a theatrical release at the end of last month… but we haven’t heard anything about how it’s done at the domestic box office. It hasn’t been listed on any box office charts. The only number we have is a worldwide total that’s just under $2 million. So it seems not many people have seen Cobweb. Maybe it will do better when it reaches home video. We’re now just one week away from having the chance to see the finished film, as Cobweb will be receiving a theatrical release on July 21st… and now a clip from the movie has arrived online, offering a preview of an awkward house visit scene. You can check it out in the embed above.
Directed by Samuel Bodin, who created Netflix’s short-lived French horror series Marianne, from a screenplay by Chris Thomas Devlin (Leatherface), Cobweb has the following synopsis: Eight-year-old Peter is plagued by a mysterious, constant tap, tap from inside...

One of this summer’s big theatrical releases for the horror genre is the Lionsgate movie Cobweb, which comes courtesy of director Samuel Bodin, creator of Netflix’s “Marianne.”
Cobweb hits theaters on July 21, and the horror film stars Lizzy Caplan (“Castle Rock”) and Antony Starr (“The Boys”) as parents who seemingly can’t be trusted.
Lionsgate’s Cobweb has officially been Rated “R” this week for…
“Horror violence and some language.”
If you missed it, you can check out the official trailer below.
“Eight-year-old Peter is plagued by a mysterious, constant tap, tap from inside his bedroom wall – a tapping that his parents insist is all in his imagination. As Peter’s fear intensifies, he believes that his parents (Lizzy Caplan and Antony Starr) could be hiding a terrible, dangerous secret and questions their trust. And for a child, what could be more frightening than that?”
Cleopatra Coleman and Woody Norman also star.

The latest to join the cast of upcoming sci-fi/horror Companion for New Line Cinema is Rupert Friend, Deadline reports today.
Friend joins previously announced cast members Sophie Thatcher, Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”), Lukas Gage (“You”), Megan Suri (It Lives Inside), and Jack Quaid (Scream, “The Boys”).
Announced back in February, Barbarian director Zach Cregger is producing Companion for New Line Cinema. Described as a sci-fi/horror movie, Companion will mark the directorial debut of Drew Hancock, who also wrote the script.
At this time, plot details remain under wraps.
Rupert Friend most recently starred in William Brent Bell’s 2021 horror movie Separation, pictured above, as Jeff, the single father struggling to piece together a new life for daughter Jenny (Violet McGraw) when the puppets from his comics seem to take on a life of their own. The actor can currently be seen in Wes Anderson...

Who — or what — is knocking on the wall? That’s the mystery at the center of Samuel Bodin’s feature directorial debut, “Cobweb,” which unveiled its first trailer on Wednesday.
As the trailer lays out, a young boy named Peter is hearing a chronic knocking behind his bedroom wall. But his overly amiable parents, played with menacing glee by Lizzy Caplan (“Fatal Attraction”) and Antony Starr (“The Boys”), chalk it up to his overactive imagination. But as Peter becomes more afraid, the question is whether his parents might be involved in something horrifying.
There’s an old-school “Tales From the Crypt” vibe to everything, though the movie is playing up its echoes of “Barbarian,” aided by the fact that producer Roy Lee worked on both features. Caplan and Starr seem perfectly suited to playing frightening parents with a secret, more so if you’ve watched their previous work over the last year or so.

The breakout star of “Yellowjackets” and The Boogeyman, Sophie Thatcher has joined the cast of the upcoming Companion for New Line Cinema, THR reports this afternoon.
Announced back in February, Barbarian director Zach Cregger is producing Companion for New Line Cinema. Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”), Lukas Gage (You), Megan Suri (It Lives Inside), and Jack Quaid (Scream) have also been announced to star.
Described as a sci-fi/horror movie, Companion will mark the directorial debut of Drew Hancock, who also wrote the script. At this time, plot details are under wraps.
THR reports, “Companion was won by New Line in a hot horror auction near the beginning of the year. Sophie Thatcher, one of the breakouts from Showtime sensation Yellowjackets, has nabbed the titular role in Companion, the sci-fi thriller from the team behind last year’s horror hit Barbarian.
The project has been casting up ahead of a hoped-for summer start of production and has Jack Quaid, Lukas Gage, Megan Suri and Harvey Guillén on the call sheet.
Drew Hancock wrote the original script and is making his directorial debut with the feature, the many plot points of which are being kept hush-hush. It is, however, being described as self-contained, and Thatcher is set to play a character who is more than meets the eye.
The feature is being produced by Zach Cregger, the filmmaker who made the twist-filled, pulse-rushing Barbarian, and his Barbarian companions Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz of BoulderLight Pictures and Roy Lee of Vertigo.
BoulderLight’s Tracy Rosenblum and Vertigo’s Andrew Childs will executive produce.

We’re waiting to hear news of a release date for director Moritz Mohr’s dystopian action thriller Boy Kills World, which stars Bill Skarsgard (It) and Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day)… and it looks like that news might not be too far off at this point. It seems to be near because the movie has just secured its rating from the Motion Picture Association, and it’s a rating that makes the movie sound quite promising to me. Boy Kills World has been rated R for strong bloody violence and gore throughout, language, some drug use and sexual references.

Four and a half years ago, it was announced that Lionsgate – a studio that had once been a prominent force in the horror genre, with releases like The Devil’s Rejects, Cabin Fever, the Hostel films, and of course the Saw franchise – was developing a genre project called Cobweb with the intention of taking back their “ownership” of horror. Soon, we’re finally going to have the chance to see just how impressive Cobweb is. Lionsgate has revealed that they’ll be giving the film a theatrical release on July 21st.
Directed by Samuel Bodin, who created Netflix’s short-lived French horror series Marianne, from a screenplay by Chris Thomas Devlin (Leatherface), Cobweb has the following synopsis: Eight-year-old Peter is plagued by a mysterious, constant tap, tap from inside his bedroom wall – a tapping that his parents insist is all in his imagination. As Peter’s fear intensifies, he believes that...

Barbarian producer BoulderLight Pictures has set up a new thriller titled Companion at New Line, Deadline can confirm. The film will be the first produced under the banner’s first-look deal with the studio, announced just days ago.
News of the project comes following New Line’s triumph in a heated auction for Weapons — the second feature from writer-director Zach Cregger to produced by both BoulderLight and Vertigo Entertainment.
Details as to the plot of Companion are under wraps, though it’s being fast-tracked for production this year alongside Weapons. Deadline understands that Cregger initially eyed Companion as his directorial follow-up to Barbarian, though the team wound up setting the project as the directorial debut of Drew Hancock, who penned the script.
