Asjha Cooper is saying goodbye to “Chicago Med.” The actress, who has played Vanessa Taylor since Season 6, exited during Wednesday’s episode, Variety confirms.
The character, who was previously revealed as Maggie’s (Marlyne Barrett) daughter who she’d given up for adoption, chose to leave her job as a doctor at the hospital for an opportunity to travel to the Philippines and help others. “This is my calling,” she told a shocked Maggie at the end of the hour.
Cooper appeared in 29 episodes of Dick Wolf’s series between 2021 and 2022.
She has previously starred on “All American,” “Snowfall,” “The Fosters,” “Faking It” and “The New Normal.”
Barrett tweeted a video of the duo following the episode with the caption, “She’s going! A New Journey Begins! Will miss this one.”

Stars from the music world and beyond are mourning the victims of the Route 91 Harvest Festival, where a gunman opened fire from his hotel room into the crowd outside, killing over 50 people and injuring over 500 in what is now the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.

Montgomery Gentry’s Troy Gentry was killed in a helicopter crash on Friday afternoon.
“It is with great sadness that we confirm that Troy Gentry, half of the popular country duo, Montgomery Gentry, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash which took place at approximately 1:00 p.m. today in Medford, New Jersey,” the band said in a statement on their Facebook page.
The 50-year-old country star was scheduled to perform with bandmate Eddie Montgomery at the Flying W Airport and Resort in Medford on Friday evening, and the concert was canceled immediately.
“Details of the crash are unknown,” the post continues.

After beginning his career in Nashville in the late 1960s and signing a songwriting contact in the early 1970s, Williams made his chart debut with “The Shelter of Your Eyes” in 1973.
