Familiar tropes are reheated in this diverting kids’ film whose occasional charm belies a troubled production
This middling half-term time-killer arrives trailing an unusually troubled production history. It may be destined to crop up in film quizzes as the first major studio release to bear no directorial credit whatsoever, the result of Pixar alumnus Dylan Brown being fired from the project after allegations of inappropriate behaviour. Brown disputed the allegations. An anonymous committee of animation pros was subsequently assembled to complete a salvage job that we can, with some generosity, describe as semi-successful. You and your children will have sat through many worse films that took far easier routes to the screen – which is not to say that Wonder Park is not immediately forgettable.
One key issue is familiarity. The film takes two elements that have always tested well among the under-tens – talking animals and theme parks – and snapped them...

A successful children’s adventure film fills its viewers with a sense of wonder. Stealing adults back through time to sit as peers with the littlest audience members and share in their feelings of awe. Wonder Park evokes such wonder. In the sense that you may sit and wonder, Why does this film exist?
June is a singular girl. Creative, fearless and brimming with mischief. As an outlet for her vivid imagination, she and her beloved mother have created a hidden world. Wonderland is an amusement park built from their words, laughter, sketches and love. Its plans whispered into the ear of her toy monkey, Peanuts, at bedtime then carried away to wherever the best secrets go.
When June (Brianna Denski) tries to replicate the park in the real world, the rollercoaster of found objects wins her the respect of all the neighbourhood kids and the thrill ride of her life.

Chicago – Most animated films depicting the “family” often includes a parallel lesson about togetherness or some such domestic symbolism. In “Wonder Park,” the lesson is how the spark of imagination can keep a childhood alive. When that spark is temporarily dosed, the destination of the title also suffers.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
The hero is a little girl, who has an interest in building things, which lights up her life through a made-up amusement park. Because the park is depicted in actuality as a parallel form, the conduit to its creation comes from the girl (and her Mom) and becomes spectacular as it is built. This is a nice bit of multi-universe, existing in the child’s mind, and an understandable way for kids to experience how thoughts become action. Although this type of “come to life” world has been done in films like the Toy Story series and “Inside Out,” the different...

The second frame of Disney-Marvel’s latest MCU installment, 'Captain Marvel,' is set to top the box office with an estimated $70 million.
The superhero film already pushed past the $200 million mark domestically after taking in $19 million on Friday for a total of about $215 million. It’s also generated $378 million overseas after jolting the domestic box office out of a slump that had seen it down 27% from last year.
“Captain Marvel’s” second weekend will mark the second-highest in March box office history with “Beauty and the Beast” having taken in $90 million in its second frame in 2017. “Captain Marvel’s” weekend take will mark a 54% drop from its debut.
Paramount’s animated adventure film “Wonder Park” should drop into second place with about $17 million from 3,838 North American locations, while CBS Films and Lionsgate’s “Five Feet Apart” is estimated to bring in about $13 million from 2,803 domestic sites for third place.

“Wonder Park,” an animated family film from Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies, earned $700,000 in its Thursday box office previews from 2,620 screens. It opens on approximately 3,800 screens this weekend.
Paramount is looking at an opening weekend between $10-$14 million for the children’s fantasy tale, but it is of course contending with “Captain Marvel” in what is expected to be an especially strong second weekend for the Marvel superhero film. “Wonder Park” is tracking similarly to Paramount’s “Sherlock Gnomes,” which opened in March last year to just $10.6 million on a $59 million budget.
“Captain Marvel” meanwhile grossed an additional $9.1 million domestically on Thursday, bringing its domestic total to $196.8 million. It also made an additional $16.1 million internationally on Thursday, bringing its overall global total to $575.5 million.

The Story of Wonder Park
Wonder Park tells the story of a magnificent amusement park where the imagination of a creative 8-year-old June (Brianna Denski) comes alive. One magical day, June is running through the woods to find her way home where she discovers an old rollercoaster car and climbs inside. She suddenly finds herself in Wonderland, an amusement park she had created in her mind and put aside. All of her rides and characters are brought to life but are falling into disarray without her. Aside from going to the movies (natch’) what’s very very high up on the lists of kids’ fun activities? Right at the ‘tippy-top” would probably be a visit to a big ole’ amusement park. Not the traveling carnivals that go from town to town and set up for a few days in an empty field or a parking lot. We’re talking the big permanent vacation destinations like your “several flags over…” or “something land or world” with the Griswold family running in slo-mo toward the front gate. And just what could make such an excursion even more fun, aside from a multi-day express pass or unlimited refreshment vouchers? What if that place was based on your own ideas, if you were the “Imagineer” thinking up the perfect coaster or ride? Well, as this new animated movie suggests, that would truly be a Wonder Park.
Actually, this place, in the film,...

The most notable thing about Paramount’s “Wonder Park” — a sugar-addled “My Neighbor Totoro” ripoff with a beautiful message and a hideous everything else — is that the movie seems to have been made without a director. That’s not an insult, it’s a fact: Behold what might be the only IMDb page where the writers get top billing.
Perhaps that’s a damning indictment of a production that never found its way. More likely, it’s an honest reflection of how most $100 million animated films are made these days; “Wonder Park” doesn’t feel like the result of a coherent artistic vision as much as it does the result of a Rube Goldbergian workflow so convoluted that it’s a miracle the finished product even cuts together. [Note: Director Dylan Brown was fired for “inappropriate conduct” in January 2018]. Like a rickety wooden roller-coaster with just enough momentum to pull off a vertical loop,...

If there’s one thing kids like, it’s amusement parks. If there’s two things, it’s amusement parks and animated movies. And if there’s three things, it’s amusement parks, animated movies and a surprisingly mature message about not letting debilitating mental health issues get in the way of your creativity. At least, that’s what can be gleaned from “Wonder Park,” a clumsy but amiable kids movie with a streak of sincerity that stretches further than the Wonder Park itself.
“Wonder Park” stars Brianna Denski as June, a young girl who spends her off hours — which seems to be most hours — concocting an elaborate, fictional amusement park with her mom, voiced by Jennifer Garner. Their creation, Wonder Park, is a gigantic feast for the senses, with amusingly stomach-churning rides that literally toss you across the park, or come to life underneath you and fly around magically.

Why is “Wonder Park” called “Wonder Park”? The heart of the new digitally animated feature, a co-production of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies, is set in a spectacular fantasy amusement park, with train tracks shaped like a giant octopus’ tentacles, that’s nestled in a pastoral sunlit forest vista that looks like it could be the setting for Shangri-La. As much as any theme park in existence, it seems designed to fulfill any and every child’s dream. The name of the place? Wonderland. It’s possible that “Wonderland,” as a movie title, was seen as some sort of potential infringement upon the Lewis Carroll estate. But whatever the reason, the phrase “wonder park” is never uttered in the film, and that creates a slightly dislocated feeling.
So does the rest of the movie. It’s one of those kiddie features in which you can sense, in every scene, how...

Having acted longer than some of his “Wonder Park” cast members have been alive, Ken Jeong, who jokingly described himself as “the dumbest judge on ‘The Masked Singer’ and the dumbest guy on ‘Community,'” passed down some valuable wisdom about the entertainment industry to his young co-stars.

"You can create anything you imagine." Paramount Animation has released another full-length trailer for the animated adventure movie Wonder Park taking us to a magical amusement park called Wonderland. We've seen a teaser trailer and another official trailer before this, and it looks like a fun time even though I'm still not sure what the story is. Does she dream all of this up or is it real? This still seems like a mash-up of Zootopia and Tomorrowland (and RollerCoaster Tycoon), with everything being so imaginative, plus the talking animals. Brianna Denski voices June, and the primary cast includes Jennifer Garner, Matthew Broderick, John Oliver, Mila Kunis, Kenan Thompson, Ken Jeong, Norbert Leo Butz, and Ken Hudson Campbell. I like the way they highlight the different rides at the end. This is going to be wild ride. Here's the third official trailer (+ poster) for Paramount Animation's Wonder Park, from YouTube...

Original IP in the animation space can be daunting, but Paramount has pulled it off before with the Oscar-winning hit Rango. Wonder Park, from Nickelodeon Movies, puts you in the front seat of the roller coaster car and other thrilling rides as we experience them via the imagination of a wildly creative girl named June who has an ambitious design for her own amusement park. The pic is written by duo Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec whose credits include Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and the Michael Bay produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. Jennifer Garner, Matthew Broderick, John Oliver, Mila Kunis, Kenan Thompson, Ken Jeong, Norbert Leo Butz, Brianna Denski and Ken Hudson Campbell are the voices here and the pic opens on March 15. Like Universal, which dropped their Big Game spot for Hobbs & Shaw on Friday, Paramount is releasing Wonder Park early today before its pre-game air-time.

“It’s time to open the park” – an announcement for Wonder Park that seems to bear repeating in this first official full-length trailer for the upcoming animated feature from Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies.

Nickelodeon has ambitious designs with Wonder Park, an animated movie that sports impressive visuals.
Studio Nickelodeon Movies isn’t generally known for high-profile prestige projects outside of its animated tentpole titles like SpongeBob, along with the recent reboots of its acquired Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise (which is set for yet another iteration). However, its upcoming feature with Paramount Animation, Wonder Park, appears to be something far more grandiose, seemingly tapping into the imagination-fueled aesthetic territory of Disney and Pixar.
Wonder Park represents clear franchise designs, with Nickelodeon also fielding tie-in plans with an animated television series to capitalize off prospective momentum from the 2019-scheduled feature.

Wonder Park represents clear franchise designs, with Nickelodeon also fielding tie-in plans with an animated television series to capitalize off prospective momentum from the 2019-scheduled feature.

"Wonderland is now open!!" Paramount Animation has released the very first teaser trailer for their latest creation, an animated adventure movie titled Wonder Park taking us to a magical amusement park called Wonderland. There aren't many details released about the story, other than it involves a "wildly creative girl named June" who brings this amusement park to life, somehow. This seems like it's a mash-up of Zootopia and Tomorrowland, with the magic park and that world, plus all these talking animals. Brianna Denski voices June, and the primary cast includes Jennifer Garner, Matthew Broderick, John Oliver, Mila Kunis, Kenan Thompson, Ken Jeong, Norbert Leo Butz, and Ken Hudson Campbell. I will admit that this looks very cool, but I'm still not sure what the plot even is. We'll know more soon, I'm sure. Enjoy. Here's the first teaser trailer for Paramount Animation's Wonder Park, direct from YouTube: A story of a girl,...

Annecy, France — Paramount Animation’s presentation of “Wonder Park” at the Annecy Festival packed a large interest. It was the first Annecy for DreamWorks Animation veteran Mireille Soria since she was appointed president of Paramount Animation by Jim Gianapaolos in July 2017. People were keen to know what she’d say about where she wanted to take the division.
Also, after several years absent from most international events, Spain animation made an impressive splash at March’s Cartoon Movie in Bordeaux. The big film missing there was Paramount Animation’s “Wonder Park,” whose animation vendor and co-producer – along with Nickelodeon Movies – was Madrid’s Ilion Animation Studios. Clips of “Wonder Park” and a song featured at cinema.con. But Annecy’s sneak peek promised a far deeper drill down.
Production on “Wonder Park” was initiated in September 2014, nearly three years before Mireille Soria took over at Paramount Animation. As it turned out,...
