Another daytime TV star is facing claims of fostering a toxic workplace environment.
A dozen current and former Dr. Phil staffers tell BuzzFeed News that they faced verbal abuse from senior producers, experienced racism behind the scenes and witnessed guests being manipulated and treated unethically, describing the environment as “chaotic,” “hostile” and “overbearing.” One staffer called Dr. Phil “the show about mental health where everybody who works on it has terrible mental health because our work conditions were really bad.”

Investigation Discovery’s “American Murder Mystery” series is on a new case. The “Pamela Smart” installment of the true crime limited series will premiere Aug. 19 at 10 p.m., Variety has learned exclusively.
The three part series, fully titled “Pamela Smart: An American Murder Mystery,” documents the story of Gregg Smart, whose wife Pamela Smart plotted his murder at the hands of four teenage boys in 1990. Though originally not a suspect, police began to question Pamela Smart’s odd behavior in the media — especially after they discovered she had an affair with one of the four teenagers responsible for her husband’s death.
“From the tawdry affair, to teenage assassins, to the explosive nationally televised trial, this case transfixed the entire nation as Pamela Smart emerged as the original black widow,” said Henry Schleiff, group president of Investigation Discovery. “Since the story of Pamela Smart ranks as one of the most scandalous and controversial crimes ever,...

It's been more than 20 years since JonBenét Ramsey was found murdered in her parents' Boulder, Co, home, but now her father may allow authorities to open up the case once more. According to a new report, John is considering giving investigators permission to exhume his daughter's body. A cold case unit has been created to solve the crime using modern techniques, which recently led authorities to the Golden State Killer. "I am very pleased the new district attorney is setting up a cold case team," John told Radar Online. "That is often the only way older cases are solved. I'm hoping JonBenét's case is the first one they work on." The six-year-old beauty queen was found murdered in her parents' upscale home on Dec. 26, 1996. The killer broke into their basement and snuck up to her bedroom where she was sleeping. Investigators said she was carried to the basement, bound, silenced with duct tape,...

When police returned a missing 12-year-old boy to his home in Fairfield, CA, they were shocked by what they found next. Nine more children, ages 4 months to 11 years, were living in "squalor and unsafe conditions." Garbage, rotten food, and animal and human feces were found strewn throughout the house, Lt. Greg Hurlbut said during a news conference Monday. He added that the children described various incidents of "intentional abuse." They suffered puncture wounds, bruises, and burns consistent with getting shot with a pellet or Bb gun, according to the department. The mother, identified by police as Ina Rogers, 30, was arrested and charged with child neglect. She was released after posting $10,000 bail on April 9. "I strive, I thrive on being a good parent to my children," Ina said. "My husband has a lot of tattoos. He looks like a scary individual, and that's why people are so quick to judge him.

The unthinkable happened when a 16-year-old boy in Cincinnati ended up trapped in the back of his own van in his high school parking lot, called the police twice, and wasn't found until six hours later when it was too late. While more information is still coming out about whether or not police mishandled his case and lead to his untimely death, people are still perplexed as to what actually happened to Kyle Plush, and how. Police have revealed that they think he was in the third row of his 2004 Honda Odyssey when he leaned over the back seats to grab a tennis raquet from the truck. The van's third row has the ability to fold backwards to create more truck space, and it seems that they weren't locked properly when he leaned over. They folded back, pinning him against the hatch of the trunk upside-down, so the weight of...

At one point, the case of Chandra Levy's 2001 death seemed all wrapped up: Ingmar Guandique had been convicted of her murder and sentenced to 60 years in prison. But Guandique's charges have been dismissed, and he's been freed from prison. Ok, so did Gary Condit kill Chandra Levy? Apparently not. With both men seemingly exonerated, the mystery still stands. With so much uncertainty, famed prosecutor Marcia Clark reexamined the case on the April 12 episode of A&E's Marcia Clark Investigates the First 48, saying she wants answers for Chandra's family. Who was Chandra Levy? Chandra, a 24-year-old woman interested in a career in the FBI, was an intern at the Federal Bureau of Prison in Washington, D.C. and a master's student in public administration at the University of Southern California. "She had these high political internships," mother Susan Levy told ABC News in 2016. "She was an honor student, had good grades…...

Marcia Clark can’t get on a jury. The famed O.J. Simpson prosecutor, who left the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office after the accused murderer was acquitted, has spent the last 20 years writing scripts and novels, plus developing TV shows. But she can’t escape her Simpson trial notoriety.
That may explain why she hasn’t been asked to serve on a jury. “And I actually could be fair!” she laments. “I spent as much time on the defense side of things as I have on the prosecution side. But no one’s ever going to put me on a jury. I do think I get weeded out pretty fast. And my friends are also ruined. When they’re asked if they know any lawyers, they say ‘yes’ and my name, and then it’s like, ‘bye, see ya, wouldn’t want to be ya!’ I’m Typhoid Mary.
