As of Saturday, June 18, Vikram had raked in Rs 150 crore in Tamil Nadu alone, while the overall figure is above Rs 300 crore. Vikram stars actors Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles, and it hit the big screens on June 3. The news was shared by trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan. Vikram, who will be reprising his cop role from Saamy that came out in 2003, will be seen pairing up with Keerthy Suresh. Going by the two-minute trailer, looks like the film will have a good number of stunt sequences. There’s also no dearth of knuckle-cracking, skull-bashing men delivering loud and heavy punch dialogues. Directed by Hari, the film is being produced by Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films. Devi Sri Prasad has been roped in to compose for this film. The first-look motion poster of Vikram’s Saamy Square was released on May 17. From the motion poster and the trailer, we get a fair idea that the film will be set in New Delhi and Tirunelveli. The film also stars Bobby Simha, Prabhu Ganesan and Soori in lead roles. A Venkatesh is wielding the camera and Vt Vijayan is editing the film. Saamy, starring Vikram and Trisha was a blockbuster when it released in 2003. While actor Kota Srinivasa Rao played the antagonist in Saamy, Bobby Simha has been roped in to play the villain in Saamy Square. The actor seems to be sporting an aged look similar to his character in Jigarthanda. Saamy was remade in Telugu in 2004 as Lakshmi Narasimha. It was also remade in Bengali as Barood (2004), Ayya (2005) in Kannada and as Policegiri (2013) in Hindi starring Sanjay Dutt and Prachi Desai. Saamy Square will hit screens on May 26. He went on to add that the film will have five songs, four action blocks and two chase sequences. While the director has confirmed that Trisha is very much onboard, the actor’s mother Uma reportedly told a media house that no one from the Saamy Square team had approached them in this regard and she is not aware of Trisha agreeing to rejoin the sets. Well, to get some clarity on this, we need to wait for a word from the actor herself. Produced by Shibu Thameens under his banner Thameens Films, the movie has Vikram, Keerthy Suresh, Prabhu Ganesan and Bobby Simha in the star cast. The magnum opus Puli starring Vijay, Sridevi though had buzz but failed to live upto expectations. And now, the veteran actress is miffed with the makers for not clearing her remuneration for the film. From what we hear, Sridevi is yet to receive Rs. 50 lakhs of her fee which was supposed to be given after the release of the film. However, since the actress hasn't received the amount as yet she decided to go the legal way and has apparently filed a complaint at the producers' council in Mumbai. Though the actress hasn't divulged any details as yet, one of the producers of the film Shibu Thameens recently posted a tweet referring to the issue, saying, "Will clarify Sridevi mam complaint ,postpone my surgery tomorrow nd joining my partner pts in Chennai".
