There's perhaps no horror film coming our way next year that's more intriguing than Kevin Smith's Tusk, which centers around a killer who attempts to turn a podcaster into a human-walrus hybrid.
Though Smith has been rushing the film along in an effort to premiere it at next month's Sundance Film Festival, it looks like he's hit a little speed bump along the way. Read on for details.
As reported by our friends over at Bloody Disgusting, Smith opened up about the progress of the film on the latest episode of his SModcast, revealing that the cameras will continue to roll through the year, possibly even into next year.
“We’ve still got two more shooting days here in Los Angeles to wrap the flick with our fifth Beatle – the performer playing the role of investigator Guy Lapointe,” said Smith. “It’s looking like late December/early January for...

We don't really know much of anything about Kevin Smith's second horror film, other than the fact that it's called Tusk, will star Michael Parks and Justin Long, and has been described as a monster movie about a dude who turns another dude into a human walrus.
Of course, that's more than enough information to pique our interest!
Though today brings no new developments about the film, Kevin Smith did write up a guest post for The Hollywood Reporter, wherein he opened up about someone who will not be appearing in the movie; Quentin Tarantino.
In the article, Smith talks about how he offered Tarantino the role of a French Canadian cop who is hunting down the aforementioned dude that's trying to turn another dude into a walrus, but Tarantino rejected the offer. The Clerks director warmed to a spoof UK ad requesting potential flatmates to wear a walrus suit in return for free rent – he wants to make 'an old British Hammer horror'
• Ben Affleck's Batcave entrance 'cost $50,000', says Kevin Smith
• Kevin Smith: 'I haven't taken my shirt off since I was nine'
Once upon a time in Hollywood, studio executives looking for source material would look almost exclusively to the worlds of literature and theatre. These days, anything from magazine articles to self-help books and even pop songs can provide the creative spark. Nevertheless, it still comes as something of a shock that indie hero turned podcaster Kevin Smith is currently mulling a horror movie based on a Gumtree flatshare advert.
Until, that is, the full nature of the ad in question is revealed. Then it begins to sound like the most brilliantly outlandish premise for a movie since Being John Malkovich.
