Janty Yates‘ first film with Ridley Scott, 2000’s “Gladiator,” earned her an Oscar for Best Costume Design and she has been the director’s go-to costume designer since. However, it wasn’t Scott who introduced “House of Gucci” to Yates, but rather his wife, producer Giannina Scott, about 20 years ago.
“It certainly did the rounds, this movie, because Giannina would come on set and she’d be talking to Ridley about it and I’d go, ‘Don’t forget me! Don’t forget me!'” Yates tells Gold Derby during our Meet the Experts: Film Costume Design panel (watch above). “And then it would go away for a couple of years and it would come back and go around directors at Ridley Scott’s company. … Then it came back two years ago and I kept saying to Giannina, ‘Don’t forget about me!’ And they very kindly allowed me to have a go at it.

Pop star Lady Gaga has recalled the time when she was bullied in middle school.
"I didn't know how to stand up for myself without feeling embarrassed," she told People. The singer kept her struggles hidden from loved ones, including her parents.
"There was a shame of sharing some of this with me. And I feel horrible about that," said Gaga's mother, Cynthia Germanotta.
"I was raised differently, where you just have to be tough and not talk about your emotions. I didn't always understand the difference between normal biological teenage development and a real problem," added the mother.
Gaga and her mother launched their foundation, Born This Way, in 2012 to help the youth share their moments of struggle, and say that they have since healed their relationship.

Lady Gaga was born this way—and then some things got in the way. The Oscar-winning triple threat has long been an impassioned mental health advocate and has spent years working to turn the subject into an inclusive public conversation partly by speaking of her personal challenges. As the star's mom, Cynthia Germanotta, recalled in a new interview on CBS This Morning, her famous daughter began to face her own mental health struggles just ahead of her teenage years. "Stefani was very unique and that wasn't always appreciated by her peers and, as a result, she went through a lot of difficult times. Humiliated, taunted, isolated. When you're a young woman, this really...

As the clock approaches 8 a.m. tomorrow, King and her “CBS This Morning” co-hosts, Anthony Mason and Tony Doukopil, will have to whisk themselves from their home studio to another one at the multi-tiered New York broadcast facility that hosts their program. They will have to climb several floors and scamper down long hallways. Upon arrival, they will find something that has not been a staple of their morning broadcast: a live, in-studio crowd. Guests including Karamo Brown, Cynthia Germanotta and Jane Pauley will be on hand to discuss mental health awareness with a hand-picked audience that will include people who have had their own dealings with mental health challenges.

During Lady Gaga‘s breathless Best Actress speech for “A Star Is Born” at Sunday’s Critics’ Choice Awards, she mentioned that she was thrilled to have tied with Glenn Close (“The Wife”), who was also elated about the dual wins, because her mother and Close are good friends. That is, in fact, true and not some concocted award season anecdote. And no, they didn’t just meet this season either — they’ve been pals for years.
Close discussed her “wonderful” friendship with Cynthia Germanotta on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” two years ago, telling a charming story of how they crashed Germanotta’s old apartment in New York City (watch above). As Close tells it, the two were having lunch when Germanotta mentioned she hadn’t been back to her first apartment in the Village since she lived there. Close suggested they go see it, and when they arrived it started “pouring rain.

Lady Gaga is certainly having her moment this award season, and we're loving every bit of it! After her song "Shallow" took home the Golden Globe for best original song, the 32-year-old singer attended the National Board of Review Gala in NYC on Tuesday night. Gaga was accompanied by her mom, Cynthia Germanotta, and it's clear the apple didn't fall far from the tree. The two celebrated her best actress win for her role in A Star Is Born with costar Bradley Cooper and director Steven Spielberg.
In her speech, Gaga thanked her mom for believing in her so that she could fulfill her dreams. "I always do what I do to make my family proud," she said. She also gave Bradley a sweet shout-out, saying, "I would not be standing up here without you. Thank you for entrusting me to be your first leading actress in your directorial debut.

Lady Gaga and the World Health Organization’s director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus co-penned a powerful, emotional op-ed for The Guardian on suicide, mental health stigma and the lack of resources needed to help eradicate the “mental health emergency.”
Gaga and Ghebreyesus heavily cite statistics throughout their piece, placing the issue in a global context. “By the time you finish reading this, at least six people will have killed themselves around the world,” the op-ed begins, before noting that 800,000 people kill themselves annually.
