After two “Top Chef” challenges there have been two eliminations: David Murphy in “Chef’s Test” and Valentine Howell Jr. in “Living the High Life.” So they went head-to-head in “Last Chance Kitchen” for a chance to return to the competition … Except they didn’t. David was nowhere to be found. Perhaps his bottom-three cookoff in “Chef’s Test” served as its own kind of “Last Chance Kitchen,” because there’s no mention of him at all in this week’s first “Lck.” As far as I can tell he’s out for good. Watch this week’s “Lck” above.
Instead, Valentine had to battle Soo Ahn, a secret 16th cheftestant who the show added to the competition specifically for “Lck.” He’ll have to win five times for a chance to enter the main competition at all. Tom Colicchio gave him and Valentine a challenge that flipped Valentine’s last challenge on its head.

“Top Chef” wasted no time throwing the contestants’ into the heat of the competition, going straight into the Elimination Challenge in last week’s season premiere, “Chef’s Test.” Some chefs passed their test with flying colors while others struggled. So who went out in episode two, “Living the High Life”? Read on to find out.
David Murphy was the first chef ousted from the competition, leaving 14 on the main show competing for a chance to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Manny Barella, Kaleena Bliss, Kevin D’Andrea, Alisha Elenz, Danny Garcia, Valentine Howell Jr., Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, Kenny Nguyen, Laura Ozyilmaz, Charly Pierre, Amanda Turner, Rasika Venkatesa and Michelle Wallace.
Manny won the Elimination Challenge in “Chef’s Test,” so he has immunity from elimination, but he doesn’t want to get too relaxed.

Only five Gold Derby users correctly predicted that David Murphy would be the first cheftestant eliminated from “Top Chef” season 21, but that’s pretty impressive considering we hadn’t seen any of the contestants in action yet. How accurate will our odds be forecasting tonight’s second episode, “Living the High Life”? See who we’re betting on here.
As of this writing it’s a close call between Amanda Turner and Rasika Venkatesa. Turner had one close call already. In “Chef’s Test” she was tasked with cooking a soup for the judges, but hers was much too salty, which the judges’ couldn’t get past. So she ended up in the bottom three along with the worst grilled chicken chef (Kenny Nguyen) and the worst stuffed pasta chef (Murphy). But instead of comparing their dishes to decide who would be eliminated, host Kristen Kish instructed them to make...

“After every elimination, I’ll be waiting right here to give each chef their one shot at redemption,” says Tom Colicchio in the preview for “Last Chance Kitchen,” which will air after “Top Chef” season 21 episodes and pit the ousted chefs against each other for a chance to return to the competition. “But this season, I may do things a little differently — please meet this season’s 16th competitor …” Watch the preview above.
All is not lost for chefs who have a bad day on the Bravo cooking competition. “Last Chance Kitchen” gives them a chance to make a comeback. But it’s not easy. They have to go head-to-head against another eliminated chef to prepare a dish under a tight time limit. The loser is eliminated from “Top Chef” for good. But the winner gets to continue through “Lck” until finally a chef is selected to return to the competition.

“I think you want to get a lot of flavor in as short an amount of time as possible,” says “Top Chef” season four champion Stephanie Izard during the first episode of “The Dish with Kish,” the new “Top Chef” after show (watch it above). Host Kristen Kish challenges Izard to make a dish using leftover ingredients just like the bottom three chefs did in the season premiere, “Chef’s Test,” before David Murphy was eliminated.

“Top Chef” returned for its 21st season on Wednesday night, March 20. So what happened in the season premiere episode, “Chef’s Test,” when 15 brand new cheftestants came to Wisconsin to celebrate the culinary culture of the Midwest and compete for the grand title?
Entering this first episode of the competition to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money were Manny Barella, Kaleena Bliss, Kevin D’Andrea, Alisha Elenz, Danny Garcia, Valentine Howell Jr., Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, David Murphy, Kenny Nguyen, Laura Ozyilmaz, Charly Pierre, Amanda Turner, Rasika Vekatesa and Michelle Wallace.

It took him four tries, but "Boston Rob" Mariano finally earned the title "Sole Survivor." The 35-year-old outwitted, outplayed and outlasted 17 other players to win the $1 million prize on " Survivor: Redemption Island ." He also won $100,000 after being named "Sprint's Player of the Season." So dominant was Mariano's game play that host Jeff Probst marveled, "In 22 seasons, that’s as close to a perfect game as anybody has ever played." With three previous "Survivor" seasons under his belt, Mariano carefully schemed his way over the course of 39 days. He blindsided his toughest rivals and ended up taking two non-threats -- naive Natalie Tenerelli and unpopular Phillip Sheppard -- to the final two. Sheppard only received one vote from the final jury, and it quickly became apparent that Mariano would win. After Probst read the winning vote, Mariano thanked his competitors and quickly made his way into the studio audience to...

Here is Sean Furfaro's recap of the Season Finale of Survivor Redemption Island.
I came in to this season quite skeptical, but after a strong start in the first three episodes, I became optimistic about how this season would go. However, after that drag race of a start, we settled into a marathon of mediocrity with an incredibly sub-par season. I won’t repeat all of the problems I had with this season, primarily the entire Redemption Island Twist, but let’s once again be thankful for Rob and Phillip for providing us with some entertainment for the past 14 weeks.
One quick note in advance of tonight’s Season Finale, and it’s a personal apology to regular reader Choirchick22, for whom I inadvertently spoiled the result of last week’s episode. In posting the link to my recap, I gave the result, which is something that I always try not to do.

We thought the "Survivor: Redemption Island" reunion was going to be pretty boring. Boston Rob won (by a large margin) the million dollar prize and he also won (by a much slimmer margin) the America's vote money, which is what we all kind of assumed would happen.
But then! David Murphy, the outspoken defense attorney, started talking with Jeff about how he met Carolina Eastwood of "Survivor: Tocantins" after he came home from filming and they've been dating since. He says it wasn't love at first sight, it was more that "she kind of put [him] in [his] place a few times before she actually gave [him] the time of day."
After playing it coy, Jeff leads David into his planned proposal. David says, "You are the most amazing woman I've ever met. You challenge me, you drive me nuts, but at the end of the day you made me happier than I could ever ask to be,...

CBS Rob Mariano
I’ve watched all 22 seasons of “Survivor” and there has never been one that was about one character the way this season was. “Boston Rob” Mariano, one of the most beloved players in “Survivor” history and a 4-time contestant in the game, was the focal point of the entire season.
Even at the end, when Rob was facing off against Phillip Sheppard and Natalie Tenerelli, Nat and Phil defined themselves in terms of their relationship with Rob.

While many will argue that the introduction of “Redemption Island” is Survivor’s biggest twist this season, some… okay we like to think that the far bigger surprise has a little something to do with the fact that for the first time in the history of the series, ousted contestants will have to face off against… us! Yes, you’re reading that correctly, theTVaddict.com is honored to have been asked to take part in the traditional one-on-ones with each week’s eliminated contestant, the seventh of which was David Murphy.
With the numbers stacked against your tribe [Zapatera], is it safe to say that you saw this coming?

David Murphy has claimed that the remaining members of the former Ometepe tribe blindly follow returning player Rob "Boston Rob" Mariano on Survivor: Redemption Island. The 31-year-old defence attorney - who left the competition during Wednesday night's episode - accused the competitors of refusing to play the game and allowing Rob to make all the decisions. "I was really surprised that they were all so willing to take direction [from Rob]. When I was there, no-one challenged him or stood up to him or questioned what he was saying," he said after his elimination. "No-one went against his desires. It was almost as if they thought it was his game and they were trying to figure out who (more)...

David Murphy has confessed that he still feels he has something left to prove on Survivor. The 31-year-old California native left Redemption Island on Wednesday but later told reporters that he would absolutely return for another season of the reality series in order to settle old scores. "I think if circumstances were different this time around I would have had a lot better chance at success. Given the right situation, winning the game is well within my abilities." (more)...

Survivor: Redemption Island player David Murphy started the game in one of this season's strongest alliances — the alliance of six on the Zapatera tribe. But David's strongest asset quickly became his biggest weak spot when his alliance opted to vote out veteran Russell Hantz and refused to play a strategic game. "I think there was just a different mentality between the other five and myself," the 31-year-old Los Angeles lawyer tells TVGuide.com. "The approach they had to the game was not the same approach that I had." David also talked about why he thinks he would have been a better fit to play with Russell, what his biggest mistake was at the duel and his biggest boiling point in the game...

David Murphy was the latest castaway eliminated on "Survivor: Redemption Island." He tells Zap2it that he maybe should have aligned with Russell and that Phillip's newest crazy thing - the race card - was "absolutely ridiculous."
Are you glad you went on "Survivor"? Was it everything you expected/hoped it would be?

The Zapatera tribe's alliance of six was strong enough to take down one of the biggest villains in show history, Russell Hantz, on Survivor: Redemption Island. However, when it came to the question of Sarita White's strength and physical capabilities, her one-time allies quickly changed their tune and sided with David Murphy to vote her out. White, a 36-year-old visual effects producer, is the first to admit she wasn't the strongest competitor, but (wrongly) assumed her fellow tribemates would see through David and his "insidious" ways. White talked with TVGuide.com about which player she calls the "juggernaut of power," who made her want to slit her wrists and why she hated the physical challenges so much.
