Invincible Season 2 introduced us to Omni-Man’s other family, the Thraxan woman Andressa, and her child with Nolan, who will be later named Oliver. Oliver, despite having an insectoid alien heritage, looks more like a purple human infant, indicating the strong Viltrumite genes that the child has inherited from Nolan Grayson.
Nolan and Mark defending Thraxa in Invincible Season 2 Part 1 Episode 4
We all know that Mark Grayson’s DNA is almost pure Viltrumite, as stated by Nolan Grayson right before their fight in the Season 1 finale. It is safe to assume that Oliver would develop powers similar to Mark as well, given how strong Vilturmite’s genetics are. While Nolan’s new family could be an indication of the Viltrumite’s change of heart, a theory suggests that Nolan’s progeny could be a part of a more sinister plan on the Viltrumite’s part.

This article contains major spoilers for Invincible season 2 episode 4 and some light spoilers from the comics.
Back before Invincible season 2 premiered, Den of Geek caught up with comic series creator and TV show producer Robert Kirkman to discuss many aspects of the show, including the decision to split the eight-episode second season into two parts, separated by a lengthy holiday season hiatus. Kirkman’s response was telling.
“After the fourth episode of season 2, you’re definitely gonna need a break … a breather. You’re gonna need time to digest,” the writer said.
It’s fair to say that we’ll indeed need plenty of time to digest the wild events of season 2 episode 4 “It’s Been a While.” While the previous episode revealed where Mark’s dad Nolan Grayson a.k.a. Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons) had flown off to following their bloody fight. This episode explains how he came to be on the planet Thraxa,...

The way the last episode of this ongoing second season of Invincible ended, with the long-overdue reunion of the Grayson father and son, Mark and Nolan, an impending cataclysm was on the cards. But as the midseason finale revealed, that doesn’t come to pass in the way viewers would have expected; instead, a new threat emerges that unexpectedly reunites the duo against a common enemy.
In the previous episode, Coalition of Planets representative Allen shared the news of his encounter with half-Viltrumite Mark Grayson with the organization. Eventually, it was revealed that the Viltrumite empire had been made aware of their meeting as well, as they beat Allen within an inch of his life when he refused to share further information with them.
