Lisa Simpson may be the newest Disney princess.
With Disney finally completing its purchase of 21st Century Fox assets, the company could technically add Lisa Simpson to its ranks of iconic princesses like Snow White, Rapunzel, and Cinderella.
Lisa’s voice actor, Yeardley Smith, told Variety’s Marc Malkin at the GLAAD Media Awards on Thursday that Fox nearly referenced her character’s new royal status on air.
“What’s funny is we actually almost recorded a promo where Lisa was excited that she gets to be a Disney princess,” she said. “I’m excited. Any tiara, anytime, anywhere and any form, sign me up.”
Smith has played the saxophone-playing middle child since the show began in 1989, lending her voice to more than 600 episodes across 30 seasons and making her one of the most tenured voice actors on TV. In addition to “The Simpsons,” Disney now owns “Family Guy” and the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises.

Nancy Cartwright has spent more than three decades immersed in the world of “The Simpsons” — first with “The Tracey Ullman Show” shorts, and then with the spinoff to its own franchise in 1989, as the voice of forever-10-year-old prankster Bart Simpson and a gaggle of other supporting characters. But it took Cartwright co-writing the 2017 independent film “In Search of Fellini,” which was loosely based on her own life, for the actress to consider penning an episode of the animated series.
“I never saw myself as a writer on the show, to be honest with you,” Cartwright tells Variety. “I wrote a book in 2000, [‘My Life as a 10-Year-Old Boy,’] but that was a memoir. To me, that was so easy to do, because that was my life. It’s not the same thing, with the structure of a three-act sitcom.”

Lisa Simpson offers her seat at the dinner table to the Girl on the Bus in The Simpsons, season 30, episode 12.
This The Simpsons review contains spoilers.
The Simpsons: Season 30 Episode 12
The Simpsons Season 30, Episode 12, presents a French farce on "The Girl on the Bus," and Lisa puts the fab in fabrication. The Simpsons' middle child tries to obscure her family but winds up exposing both the series and family's most recent flaws in a funny and effective episode.
The Simpsons' "The Girl on the Bus" starts with hardly any theme music at all and a couch gag that's over before it starts, disintegrating the family before Lisa gets a chance to let her sculptor father reconstruct it. That's one of the lies Lisa commits to when she first drops into the character she always wants to be. The opening sequence is reminiscent of Woody Allen's Stardust Memories,...
