Viola Davis may have a potential hit series on her hands with Shonda Rhimes' "How to Get Away with Murder," but don't worry movie fans, she isn't giving up her day job. The two-time Oscar nominee has a number of big screen roles on the way including a reunion with Tate Taylor, the director of "The Help" in "Get On Up," which hits theaters next month. Produced by Brian Grazer and, no joke, Mick Jagger, among others, "Get On Up" tells the life story of the legendary James Brown. The Godfather of Soul is played by Chadwick Boseman, who broke out two years ago playing another African American icon, Jackie Robinson, in "42." Davis plays Susie Brown, James' estranged mother who left him when he was a kid. Universal has provided us with an exclusive clip from the film, which finds Susie Brown visiting James backstage at the Apollo Theater...

Sometimes you've gotta start at the bottom to get on up.
The latest trailer for the upcoming James Brown biopic "Get on Up" gives us a better look at the musician's tough upbringing and troubled youth, and illustrates just how the legendary performer became the hardest working man in show biz. Viola Davis plays Susie Brown, the mother who abandoned James as a child and then reappears just as her son is about to take the stage at the legendary Apollo Theater. Chadwick Boseman ("42") stars as the adult James Brown in what looks like a very promising performance, both dramatically and musically. Other notable stars include Octavia Spencer as James's Aunt Honey, Dan Aykroyd as the musician's rep Ben Bart, Nelsan Ellis as musician Bobby Byrd, and the fabulous Jill Scott as James Brown's wife Deedee Jenkins.

When it comes to shaping up for her latest role, Viola Davis is turning to one of the hottest bodies in Hollywood for inspiration: Hugh Jackman. The actress says she's following the so-called "Wolverine diet" to play Susie Brown in the upcoming James Brown biopic, Get on Up. "[I'm] losing a little weight. When I say 'a little,' I mean 'a little,' " she told People Saturday at the Los Angeles Hammer Museum's 11th Annual Gala In The Garden. "I'm not a weight girl much." Jackman's diet for the Marvel Comics franchise calls for limiting food intake to a period...

Tate Taylor is set to work with someone new – 42’s Chadwick Boseman – on the James Brown biopic Get On Up. But he’s recruiting some old friends to co-star, signing up The Help’s Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer for supporting roles.Boseman, of course, will play the Godfather of Soul, in a film that charts his early days in poverty in Georgia and his rise to become a world famous soul musician. Davis will play his mother, Susie Brown, who gave birth to James when she was 16, and abandoned him to live with relatives. Despite Davis’ clear acting skills, it seems likely we’ll be seeing her as an older version of Susie. Spencer, who won an Oscar for her turn as Minny in The Help, will be Brown’s Aunt Honey, a key figure in the young man’s upbringing. With a script in hand from Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth,...

So, Jason Aldean was the big winner at last night’s American Country Awards (seriously, country music people, how many freaking awards shows do you need?!?), taking home six prizes. Carrie Underwood took home a not-too-shabby three, while fellow Idol alum Scotty McCreery got New Artist of the Year. But those aren’t the titles we here at TheFABlife are interested in giving out. We saw the kind of skin and curves Carrie, Kristin Chenoweth, Jordin Sparks, Miranda Lambert and the JaneDear Girls’ Susie Brown were flashing. They may be “country,” but they know how to play up their sex appeal, big-city style. The question is, who did it best? Take a closer look and vote!

Congrats go to Taylor Swift for winning her second Entertainer of the Year trophy at last night’s Country Music Awards. But who should win our kudos for being the most spectacularly dressed at the Nashville ceremony? Um, Miss Piggy, obvs. The porcine beauty sported a dangerously short, shimmery champagne-colored dress onstage that we’re sure made Kermit wonder if he’s a mammal after all.
What really popped out last night (besides Kermit’s eyes), was the crazy variety of gowns, short, long, poofy and totally wacko. Taylor’s train must have spanned the entire length of the red carpet. Erin Andrews did Barbie proud in a short hot-pink number. Laura Bell Bundy‘s completely open royal-blue skirt revealed a beaded beige bodysuit — a look that was crazy but surprisingly flattering on her. Susie Brown of the JaneDear Girls accessorized her pink and purple ruffles with a cupcake purse.
