What's a basic cable clip show full of snark to do when celebrating their ungodly milestone of 500 episodes? Why, go live, of course -- which is exactly what E!'s "The Soup" did on Wednesday (Aug. 21).
Part of the appeal of watching TV shows go live for the first time is the possibility that something might go horribly, horribly awry. Whether it's someone forgetting their lines or an accidental f-bomb, we want to see the flubs. So, did "The Soup" deliver?
Well, yes and no. Host Joel McHale and his crew pulled off a perfectly professionally live broadcast that, oddly, felt like a bit of a disappointment. Beyond the fact that there wasn't a single flub to laugh at, the show didn't even remotely deviate from its weekly formula, making us wonder what, exactly, the point was.
Sure, the running gag with guest star B.J. Novak as the episode's social...

In the hierarchy of the "Real Housewives" franchise, Bravo's Miami iteration might never match the ratings highs of Atlanta or New Jersey, or be as obsessed over as Beverly Hills, but as it salsa-ed into its third season on Monday (Aug. 12) with all the Latin flair it's come to be known for, it proved it's determined not to go way of the D.C. debacle. (Heck, it survived Season 1, so it's already a success by comparison.)
At the end of Season 2, bitter enemies Adriana De Moura and Joanna Krupa both found themselves engaged to be wed, setting the stage for an intense race to the altar between the feuding beauties. As tonight's episode began (and the season's advertising has teased), it's clear that the nuptial ramp-up will be this season's central focus. But that won't be the only source of drama.

With voting for the Season 4 winner of "The Voice" closed, there was little for finalists Danielle Bradbery, Michelle Chamuel and The Swon Brothers to do during Tuesday night's (June 18) live finale but enjoy themselves, have fun and try not to let their nerves get the best of them. And enjoy themselves they did, taking the stage with major acts like Bob Seger, One Republic and Hunter Hayes (which we'll get to later). But the night had one main purpose: To reveal a champion.
So who won? With seven minutes left in the two-hour broadcast, host Carson Daly brought the three finalists on stage to begin the end. After asking for final thoughts from each, it was time to get down to business. Taking third place, its the brother duo from Oklahoma. As the Swons left the stage, Danielle and Michelle gathered close to await their fate. And then the announcement...

Andrew reviews the terrific new Doctor Who: Regeneration DVD compendium, featuring previously unreleased story, The Tenth Planet...
There's something inherently odd about the concept of a Doctor Who coffee-table-style DVD compendium, as if those people who wear hats indoors have been identified as an untapped market ready and willing to critically examine Time and the Rani as a Kierkegaardian polemic. Still, it's a nice shiny binder, and it's got The Tenth Planet in it.
Previously unreleased on DVD, The Tenth Planet is presented here with the other regeneration stories (though no extras), and episode four is entirely animated to complete one of the more important stories in the show's history. The animation is easy to accept, blending in well with the existing footage and providing us with some striking images of the Cybermen (here in their Spare Parts, hulking relic stage of development...

Well, "Voice" fans -- we're near the end. The live Season 4 semi-finals have come to an end, taking two artists from the Top 5 with them. With the Top 3 revealed, the stage has been set for an intense final next week.
The first finalist saved, earning a spot in the finale, is Michelle Chamuel, while the second saved is Danielle Bradbery. The last person saved, entering the Top 3, is The Swon Brothers, meaning both Sasha Allen and Amber Carrington are heading home.
With that, both Adam Levine and Shakira are out of the competition, with no artists left to spur on. So, Season 4 comes down to defending champion coach Blake Shelton and newbie Usher. Do Usher and Michelle stand a chance against Blake and his country brigade? Next week will be a nail-biter.
Did the right three artists make it into the Top 3, "Voice" fans? Or are you disappointed over Sasha and Amber's losses?...

When "Switched at Birth" last aired in March, an off-the-wagon Regina (Constance Marie) was carted to rehab by Angelo (Gilles Marini), a necessary move, but one that shook up the Kennish-Vasquez compound's balance. As the show returns on Monday (June 10) for its summer premiere, Regina returned home, as well -- to a handful of changes.
Chief among them? In her absence, Daphne (Katie Leclerc) has taken to living in the Kennish house (because, you know, she needed someone to take care of her). The sight of Daphne living life with John (D.W. Moffett) and Kathryn (Lea Thompson) as if she was their daughter (even though she really is) shakes Regina, even thought she doesn't have much ground to stand on.
While her relationship with Daphne is on the rocks, she's able to do some bonding with Bay (Vanessa Marano) -- after Bay blows up on her, that is. Bay lets...

Sure, there were plenty of things that happened in the second episode of Season 5 of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" (which we'll get to just a little later), but when it comes down to it, "A Manzo of Her Word" was about one thing: The much-anticipated showdown between Caroline Manzo and Teresa Giudice.
(This recap will be told with the aid of GIFs, so consider yourself warned.)
The clash of the titans
True to this week's episode title, Caroline kept her word with Joe Gorga after promising him, last week, that she'd reach out to Teresa to try and help kick-start a reconciliation with his sister. While spending some time with hubby Al (wherein we also learned that her sister Fran has been living in the Manzo manse since her divorce), Caroline admitted that she was once again stepping into the Gorga-Giudice fray, to the dismay of her husband.

A common criticism of NBC's surprise hit "The Voice" is that, in its nearly four full seasons on the air, it's yet to spawn a musical superstar the likes of Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood. It may have the ratings supremacy over "American Idol" at this point, but will it have nearly a lasting legacy?
During a special hour of "Oprah's Next Chapter," Oprah Winfrey herself sat down with all four current coaches (Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Usher and Shakira), but it was a quick aside with host Carson Daly that illuminated the show's thoughts regarding this criticism.
Oprah asked Daly, standing alongside Usher, point blank about the judgement lobbed the show's way, which the former MTV VJ struck down. "Oprah, when did the endgame become success? And what does it mean to be successful? What does it mean to be a breakout star? [The artists] are breakout stars. Would it be...
