Stargirl Season 2 Episode 8
Summer has been no fun for the kids of Stargirl. The newest season has seen them lose teammates and classmates as well as taking on Eclipso, their most terrifying foe yet. After the shocking events of episode seven which saw Yolanda Montez abandon the mantle of Wildcat for her own sanity, episode eight focuses on Rick Tyler’s Hourman, who’s having issues of his own. It’s one of Stargirl‘s most powerful episodes yet, anchored by an incredible performance by Cameron Gellman. In the wake of the tragic events that occurred this week, we chat to Gellman about vulnerability, where Rick’s at, and where he’s headed.
Rick has long been one of Blue Valley’s most traumatized children. His parents were killed by Solomon Grundy and he’s been raised by his abusive Uncle Matt. But despite that...

Stargirl Season 2 Episode 2
Every fan of the DC TV universe has been waiting for what feels like forever to see some form of the Green Lantern pop up on our screens. Arrow’s John Diggle has felt like the most likely candidate, ever since he found a strangely glowing green box in that show’s series finale and then proceeded to bounce through almost every other superhero series on the network this year, dropping awkward hints about inexplicable headaches and destiny along the way.
Well, sorry, Diggle, but it turns out that it’s actually Stargirl that has beaten its fellow CW series to the punch, introducing a new Green Lantern in “Summer School: Chapter Two” that’s basically nothing like anyone expected: A teenage girl.

Courtney Whitmore will be meeting many new faces on Stargirl Season 2!
The CW has dropped the official trailer for the forthcoming season, which will bring some new heroes and villains into the fold.
Of the heroes, we have Green Lantern's daughter, Jade, so that will undoubtedly change the show's dynamic.
Ysa Penarejo is set in that role.
Additional new faces include Nick Tarabay (Arrow) as Eclipso, Jonathan Cake (The Affair) as Injustice Society alum The Shade, and The Flash‘s John Wesley Shipp, who will appear as Golden Age speedster Jay Garrick.
It's an action-packed trailer, one that shows off some of the big changes headed our way.
While Stargirl Season 1 was shared between DC Universe and The CW, the series is now a CW exclusive, meaning that you'll have to watch the show on the network when it launches on August 10, 2021.

Exclusive: Warner Bros. and DC Films are developing an adaptation of the popular comic Hourman with Chernin Entertainment joining as producers. The adaptation is being penned by writing duo Gavin James and Neil Widener. This will mark the first time Chernin has developed a DC property.
Originally created by Ken Fitch and Bernard Baily in 1940 and originally appearing in the Stargirl comics, the hero had three different incarnations, with the first one featuring chemist Rex Tyler the first time we meet the character. Tyler would create a new synthesis, “Miraclo,” which grants him super-strength and endurance, but only for one hour. Rex’s son Rick Tyler would later become the hero, ultimately becoming the most popular Hourman as the years went on.
Over the past decade, D.C. has been playing with the ideas of how to proceed with an Hourman project, coming close in 2013 when they began developing a series...

Stargirl Episode 5
Whereas last week’s Stargirl officially brought Yolanda Montez into the fold of the new Justice Society of America as Wildcat, this installment taps two more members: Rick Harris (formerly Tyler) and Beth Chapel as the new Hourman and Dr. Mid-nite, respectively.
On the plus side, it’s great to see Courtney get more kids her own age to interact with and the prospect of this particular group of teens forming bonds and friendships among themselves is intriguing. But after an episode focused exclusively on Yolanda, the decision to cram two separate origin stories into this hour feels more than a bit rushed.
True, Beth has existed on the periphery of Courtney’s story since the Stargirl pilot, so at least it doesn’t feel as though her becoming the new Dr. Mid-nite comes completely out of nowhere. Though, to be fair, pretty...

The next DC Universe original live action series is Stargirl! Not as edgy as Titans, nor as weird as our beloved Doom Patrol, Stargirl looks like a celebration of superheroics, and one that will explore the legacy of the first team of heroes in comic book history, the Justice Society of America. Stargirl will roll out in May on both the DC Universe streaming service and on The CW.
The series stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore, who will take on the mantle of Stargirl. Luke Wilson plays her stepfather, former kid sidekick and current pilot of the gigantic S.T.R.I.P.E robot, Pat Dugan. They’re joined by Amy Smart (Varsity Blues) as Courtney’s mother, Barbara Whitmore. But really, if you’re talking about Stargirl, you’re also talking about the Justice Society of America, and this series will absolutely feature more characters carrying on...

“Cocked and Loaded” is a) the name of Andrew Dice Clay’s breakthrough 1992 tour, the one for which he wore his soon-to-be-signature huge-collared leather jacket; b) a 2006 album by the industrial metal band Revolting Cocks; c) a malaprop for the actual military phrase “lock and load”; and d) the latest Twitter fodder all but gift-wrapped by President Donald Trump for pundits, comics and pickers of low-hanging social media fruit.
Or e) all of the above. Ding ding ding.
This morning, Trump used the bizarre, probably mistaken, certainly mangled, wording in a series of tweets that attempted to explain his last-second decision to halt an air strike against Iran in retaliation for shooting down one of our drones this week.
The four-tweet string, beginning with a swipe at Barack Obama (see the tweets below), read, in part: “On Monday [Iran] shot down an unmanned drone flying in International Waters. We were cocked...

Evangelical Christians love President Trump. They voted for him in 2016 by a staggering margin — 80% to 16% — and a Pew Research poll released in March found that 69% of white evangelicals approve of the job Trump is doing as president. The fact that Trump is a lewd, twice-divorced former casino magnate who has bragged about grabbing women by their genitals does not seem to bother the nation’s most devout Christians. Jerry Falwell Jr. is a big reason why.

For the last 18 months, the Gop largely dismissed as a liberal fantasy the idea that Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-tx) might pose a real threat to incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-tx) 2018 reelection bid. But with just eight weeks left until election day, the long-held notion that a Democrat can’t win statewide in Texas appears increasingly outdated. Polls have continued to tighten, alarming high-profile Republicans and improving the long-shot odds that Democrats could retake the Senate in November.

American farmers and manufacturers have been growing impatient for President Trump’s harebrained tariff scheme to pay dividends. The taxes the administration imposed earlier this year on steel and aluminum imports have wreaked havoc on a number of industries, leading to factory closures, job losses and the need for some companies, most notably Harley-Davidson, to shift some of their production overseas. Trump has urged those affected to remain patient, teasing on Twitter that new trade deals are imminent. On Monday morning, the president tweeted about “a big deal looking good” with Mexico.

“He is going to fire Robert Mueller,” Republican strategist Rick Tyler said of President Donald Trump on MSNBC on Monday morning, translating Trump’s morning tweet, “A total Witch Hunt with massive conflicts of interest!” Trump’s Monday tweet followed a weekend of attacks on Mueller’s probe of Russian interference in the presidential election, which now appears also to be looking into potential money laundering and obstruction of justice. Trump ratcheted up his attack…...

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” guest Rick Tyler suggested that President Trump should be on suicide watch because of recent poll numbers during Tuesday’s show. The panel discussed a new CNN poll that shows Trump’s approval rating has dropped six points since April and now sits at 38 percent, while 56 percent do not approve of the job he’s doing. Tyler, who is a former Ted Cruz campaign spokesperson, had harsh words for the president. “If I were a political consultant looking at a candidate who had these kind of numbers, I’d have him on 24-hour suicide watch,” Tyler said.
