Anurag Kashyap's short film which comprises of one segment in the upcoming compilation Bombay Talkies has run into trouble. Writer Nishant G. Ranjan claims that Kashyap's upcoming short film is apparently based on his work.
Nishant further claims that he had sent his story, revolving around a person who wanted to make Mr. Bachchan listen to the poems written on him, to Kashyap in 2011. However, since there was no reply form Anurag's side, Nishant forgot about it.
It was only on reading reports about Anurag's short film did Nishant realize the similarities between both the stories. On inquiring further, he figured that this was very much his own story, and he took up the case with the Film Writer's Association (Fwa).

Back in 2010, Pankh, featuring Bipasha Basu, Lilette Dubey, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ronit Roy, Sanjeeda Sheikh and newcomers Maradona Rebello and Amit Purohit, hit theatre screens across India. The film sunk without a trace, however, the writer- director Sudipto Chattopadhyay made several rounds of various film festivals with the film. Now, three years later, we hear that Sudipto is planning to take legal action against Zoya Akhtar for apparently lifting his film for her story in Bombay Talkies.
Apparently, after watching the trailer of Zoya's feature and learning about the storyline, Sudipto felt that Zoya has lifted the central idea of his film, for her upcoming Bombay Talkies. Further reiterating he says that Zoya's film is exactly what was shown in his, with almost every bit of the story line being similar. If that wasn't enough, Sudipto further claims that certain scenes have been blatantly lifted from his film without giving him credit.

Whenever one hears the name Raveena Tandon, the only song that precedes the name is Mohra's 'Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast', one of the 'premier' item songs of the 90s that made her an overnight sensation. Though Raveena hasn't done too many item numbers in her career, she has agreed to do one item song in Sudipto Chattopadhyay's Shobhna Seven Nights. Buzz is that she said yes to the song on the condition that it would be done aesthetically and with no suggestion of eroticism. The item song called 'Iss Jism Se Mujhe Azaad Karo' is sung by Shibani Kashyap.

This week Raveena Tandon has much reason to rejoice. She has won the Best Actress award for her performance in Sudipto Chattopadhyay's Shobhna's 7 Nights at the Houston Bollywood Film Festival which concluded on October 7 with the announcement of Raveena's triumph.
Interestingly, there is only one acting award at the Houston Bollywood Film Festival which covers both the male and female category of nominations. Raveena therefore beat competition from Abhay Deol and Emraan Hashmi in Dibakar Bannerjee's Shanghai to get the award.
Squealing in delight from Houston after the announcement, Raveena said, "I've hardly received awards in my career so far. I did get the National award for Daman. But that was a one-off thing. I thought I deserved recognition for Shool and Aks. But I was seen as glamorous commercial actress. Hence, not eligible for awards. Now when I've played the most glamorous role of my life, I get the Best Actress award.

Mumbai: The director of the film seems to be bit dissatisfied in concern to the long time writing of the media people about Shovhana’s 7 nights. The director Sudipto Chattopadhyay is very surprised in finding the relationship of his film with Shobhaa De along with her relationship with the publisher of her book. According to the director in Mumbai they have already started the shooting.
The story was written by him based on the life of a journalist woman who was brought up in an orphanage wherein three different generations of men are shown. According to him, it would be simply foolishness to search for the similarity with Shobhaa De as his actress is supposed to be a fiction writer as well as journalist. Going back to the film, he added that Raveena is the actress, who is falling in love with Rohit. He further added that Rohit would be...

In Sudipto Chattopadhyay's next film Shobhana 7 Nights, Raveena Tandon is all set to play a role modeled on famous Indian author and socialite Shobhaa De. However, the film's makers insist that the only similarity between Raveena's character and Shobhaa De is that she is a beautiful and glamorous novelist, the rest of the premise is very different.
The film will also show Shobhaa De's long term professional relationship with the publisher of her novels David Davidhar of Penguin India. Anupam Kher has been cast to play the role based on publisher David Davidhar.
In the film, Raveena plays a married novelist who is in a relationship with a much younger boy, played by model-actor Amit Purohit. The film also stars Rohit Roy as Raveena's philandering husband.
Shobhana 7 Nights goes on floors next month.

After co-producing the well-received Chalo Dilli, Mahesh Bhupathi has now moved on. His next production will be an independent production and that too with Raveena Tandon in the lead. The comedy that Bhupathi will produce with Raveena in the lead is being described as a "Delhi Belly without the expletives but still with the anything-goes mood speed and dialogues." The film goes on the floors later this year and will be directed by Neerav Ghosh whose debut film Soundtrack featuring Rajeev Khandelwal as a deaf DJ, is on release. Neerav's film that Bhupathi has asked Raveena to do is an absolute antithesis. Says a source, "Mahesh has known Raveena for the longest. When he read Neerav Ghosh's script he fell in love with it. It's madcap zany crime caper comedy and requires a housewife as its main protagonist. Mahesh and his director thought Raveena was perfect for the part.

The gorgeous Raveena Tandon is on a roll, after having completed shooting for the thriller, Alert in Goa with Sanjay Dutt. She has also signed on a comedy opposite Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Irrfan Khan.Says Raveena .It's a masala movie and I'm debating between two roles. She tops that up with Mamma Kehti Hain, a film about a mother and a child. .And though no one in my family went missing, the script brought tears to my eyes. adds the National Award winning actress. However Raveena is really looking forward to playing an abused socialite wife in a relationship with a toy boy, in Sudipto Chattopadhyay's Shobhana's 7 Nights. .It's a daringly different role in terms of approach. And despite the title, it's not a sleazy porn film, but an expose of Mumbai's dark underbelly and its strange creatures of the night," she says, adding, .I've heard and...

Following the success of All The Best, Bipasha Basu’s fans are desperately longing to see her in Pankh, the movie in which she plays the alter-ego to Maradona Rebello and appears as in a variety of poses as a sultry seductress. Director Sudipto Chattopadhyay has modelled Bipasha on the legendary Italian actress Sophia Loren’s whose screen image he sees as eternal and with Maradona not being an established star, the film’s initial attraction is going to rest on Bips’ shoulders. "I didn't set out to project Bipasha as a fantasy in a dirty manner,” says Sudipto, “But her hot look has certainly helped us promote the film."

Swear words are ‘in’ now. Director Sudipto Chattopadhyay didn’t want the Censor Board chopping off the part where Bipasha Basu says the ‘F’ word in the film Pankh, even if it meant the film would get an A certificate. Bipasha says the word twice in the film and Sudipto was very sure that he didn’t want the Board either deleting the word or beeping it.
Some of the other characters in the film use foul language too, but those parts have been beeped. He just didn’t want Bipasha’s part to get deleted because in that scene she has a fight with Maradona, whom she stars opposite. She supports.

While Bipasha Basu is a thorough professional, she will never compromise on her health. She is known to be extremely health conscious and never smokes or drinks. She has, therefore, declined to even hold a cigarette, let alone smoke it, in her upcoming film, Pankh.
Director Sudipto Chattopadhyay wanted Bipasha to smoke on screen for an important part. But she is strictly against smoking and refused to do it. When she was given the choice of holding the cigarette, she rejected even that option. She felt that if she holds a cigarette or smokes it, she will be endorsing smoking. Finally, Sudipto came up.
