Oprah’s 65-acre California estate is truly heavenly, but it’s filled with references to a much darker time and place.
The TV mogul began looking for a Southern plantation to call home shortly after the release of her 1998 movie Beloved, she tells Vogue in the September issue. The film, which is based on the novel by Toni Morrison and tells the story of a runaway slave, was a box office flop, Oprah notes, but it did have a profound effect on her house hunt.

American Hustle, David O. Russell’s newest film staring Amy Adams, Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, is a fictional film based on the true events of the Abscam scandal.
American Hustle follows Irving Rosenfeld, a mastermind conman played by Christian Bale, as he gets entangled with FBI agent Richie Dimaso (Cooper) and the two concoct an elaborate sting operation that borderlines on entrapment to expose corrupt government officials. In reality, conman Mel Weinberg worked with FBI agent John Good, in Abscam, a two-year operation in the late 70s and early 80s, which resulted in the arrests and convictions of Sen. Harrison A. Williams of New Jersey, Angelo Errichetti, the Mayor of Camden, New Jersey Congressman Frank Thompson Jr. and others. All convicted were caught on video accepting bribes. As in American Hustle, an FBI agent masquerading as an Arab Sheik was involved.

Oprah Winfrey is getting ready to launch her own line of organic produce. Winfrey will be dedicating 16 acres of her 1,000 acre land in Maui to building a farm. The media mogul said health expert Bob Greene gave her the idea.
"We realized if we could grow delicious food ourselves, we could share it," Winfrey wrote in the May issue of O.
She has teamed up with Bio-Logical Capital, a natural resource management group, to help her along the way. She will be growing more than 100 different fruits, vegetables and herbs.
For now, Winfrey has been giving away about 145 pounds of crops a week away for free to a few charities and restaurants. However, Greene, recently revealed that they are planning to sell the produce.

Not too shabby! Oprah shows off her spacious Maui farm in the June issue of O magazine. Alongside her close friend, fitness expert Bob Greene, the media mogul, 59, tells viewers that having the vast space to grow crops is a "full-circle moment because I grew up with a grandmother who was growing things." Continues Winfrey, "Everything we ate came from our own little one acre. And to have a full-circle moment with that - not in Mississippi, but in Maui - is fantastic. It's like having earth jewelry - jewelry that comes from the earth." The Oprah's Next Chapter host...

The man who has helped Oprah get in shape for the last 16 years is sharing fitness advice that anyone can follow. Bob Greene recently talked to Shape magazine and shared a few important nutrition tips.
"Healthy eating is a way of life, not a diet," Green said.
The celebrity trainer says every meal should include an anti-aging food like blueberries, eggplant or sweet potatoes. A simple way to add healthy foods to your diet is by cutting out white starches and replacing them with unrefined starches like brown rice, steel cut oats and legumes. Finally, Green says adding a few herbs and spices to your diet, like ginger and basil, "can help you live longer and fight infection and chronic diseases." ...

Bob Greene has been the trainer for Oprah and is the man behind The Best Life, a health and fitness brand. The celebrity trainer has teamed up with Philips to provide people tips for how to handle this weekend's Daylight Savings time change in a healthy way. One of his tips is to remember to keep fat in your diet.
"Don't give up fat. A diet that's moderate in fat can help you lose weight and keep it off because it's more satisfying than a low-fat diet," Greene says. "Opt for mainly healthy fats, found in foods like olive oil, avocados and nuts and cut back on red meat, cream, whole and two percent milk. These foods are all sources of saturated fat, which is unhealthy when consumed in excess. I'd also suggest removing the skin from all poultry, another source of saturated fat."

Details of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" finale have been revealed. According to reports, the last episode which was taped on Tuesday, May 24 features no one as a guest. Instead of welcoming celebrities like the two star-studded farewell episodes, the finale will see Oprah Winfrey sharing her life lessons she has learned while hosting the show.
"It was just her the whole time, a recap of what she believed in, what we've given her as viewers and what she hopes she has given us," said Nancy Evankoe who went to the taping in Chicago. "This is my love letter to you," Oprah allegedly told the audience.
There was reportedly a single chair on the stage, but Oprah stood most of the time. Among the audience were Maria Shriver, Suze Orman, Tyler Perry, Bob Greene, Gayle King, Stedman Graham and her fourth grade teacher Mrs. Mary Duncan, but no one was said joining her on the stage.
