Renowned filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt is hosting a talk show with the series ‘Pehchaan: The Unscripted Show’ on SonyLIV. ‘Pehchaan’ promises to be an unprecedented and heart-touching journey into the lives of 13 prominent Sikhs of India.
Mahesh said: “Someone who has not heard of sugar will not know what it tastes like. Pehchaan has to be experienced. And though it is being pegion-holed as a chat show in the minds of many, but it’s much more than that.”
“It is a very powerful emotional quotient which moves you and leaves you teary-eyed. What the Indian entertainment landscape lacks is intimate, upheld back conversations.”
He continued: “Pehchaan hurls you into the hearts of people in their most vulnerable moments and from there you see them climb rung by rung towards hope. These brave men have beard their hearts and spoke to me with heartfelt candor about their beautiful lives as they ploughed through from ‘unbeautiful’ moments.

Darsheel Safary was casted much later, after Aamir had come on board as actor and producer. Aamir had made it clear that both he and Amole Gupte had creative differences and that it was Amole who had suggested that he should direct. A crucial emotional scene between the two brothers in the film was cut as it added to the length of the film.

Respect film critics if you have invited them!
Kabir Khan created a brilliant climax scene for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. People from India and Pakistan converged on both sides in an attempt to set Pavan Kumar Chaturvedi free. Now, Pavan had completed a noble task of ensuring Munni was safe back with her parents and citizens from both countries were pushing for justice.
At Fun Republic in Versova, Andheri, in Mumbai, a similar scene was being enacted before the Press Show.
Apparently, there was a movie contest where winners were being given their free tickets. The film critics and assorted media was there too, on invitation. However, one had to push through the crowd to get to the front only to be told by the usher that we would have to enter with the tickets.
Fair enough!

‘Dhoom Again’ – Dhoom 2
The huge success of Dhoom 2 helped to solidify Hrithik Roshan’s career and no doubt his remarkable dance performance in the opening song ‘Dhoom Again’ showed him at his finest. Shiamak was of course responsible for the jaw-dropping choreography that can be seen throughout the song. It’s bold, edgy and something which we have never really seen in Bollywood before. Kudos to Shiamak on giving the song a big ‘dhoom!’

The recently released poster of Pk that featured a nude Aamir Khan, whose modesty was only saved by a radio set (transistor) has been at the receiving end, with the audience criticizing the poster. However, recently Aamir Khan defended the poster saying that the poster is akin to 'key art', "This is not for publicity, not for us at least. In fact this poster embibes all the elements of the film."
Further citing the example of his earlier released film Taare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan added, "In the poster of Taare Zameen Par, the child (actor Darsheel Safary) is sitting in the front on the school bench and I am sitting behind him. So it is a kind of key art...the image that tells you much about the story and so is the poster of Pk."

Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for the release of his new film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (Yjhd), following two award winning performances in both Rockstar and Barfi! Yjhd sees him reunite with good friend and director Ayan Mukherjee, with whom he previously delivered the delightful Wake Up Sid back in 2009. Ranbir also reunites with Deepika Padukone for the film .
BollySpice caught up with Ranbir during his brief visit to London, here is what he had to say:
So Ranbir, two amazing back to back performances (Rockstar and Barfi!), how did you do it?
Well, I have always believed that I am as good as the director and the script and I was lucky to have worked with both Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Basu. So I can not take any credit for it, especially for Rockstar and Barfi!, I merely surrendered myself to the parts and they made me grow as an actor.

What separates it from other thematically similar films is that this coming-of-age story is not only about a boy but also about his country, both born at the very same time at a pivotal point in Indian history. Saleem’s journey as our vulnerable, misguided hero is always intertwined with the struggles of the newly independent India,...

Changeling Game: Mehta’s Latest a Stodgy, Swollen Adaptation
A fictional narrative that attempts to recuperate an impressive fifty year historical timeline concerning relations between India and Pakistan, Deepa Mehta’s latest film, Midnight’s Children, is based on the celebrated novel by Salman Rushdie. In an effort to retain the magical essence of the film, Rushdie adapted his own novel for the screenplay, which unfortunately turns out to be more a curse than a blessing to the final product. While Mehta spins a satisfying set-up during the first half of the film, things fall miserably apart when our childhood protagonist reaches adulthood, and the attempt to turn this into the epic historical drama centered on catalyzing magical realism fails on all counts, and instead we are treated to a cornball rehash along the lines of Forrest Gump.

Deepa Mehta's "Midnight's Children" is not a well-crafted film of Salman Rushdie's Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name. Yet it captures the essence of the novel to the core.

Director Deepa Mehta rebuffed rumours that her latest film Midnight’s Children, an adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s acclaimed novel of the same name, is being banned in India. Mehta was in a Q&A session at the International Film Festival of Kerala (Iffk) where the film premiered on Monday.
Post it’s premiere at Iffk, the film was rumoured to be banned for a second screening as it shows former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in negative light during Emergency in the country. Former Kerala minister R. Balakrishna Pillai had asserted that the film should not be screened in the Congress led United Progressive Alliance rule. State Cinema Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar, however, had called the controversy needless, saying, “A cinema should not be seen politically. Those who are airing opinions are those who have not seen the film.” The minister was also present at the Iffk screening of the film.
