Paramount Pictures had good reason to believe Adrian Lyne's "Fatal Attraction" would be another box office smash for the hit-making studio (which had just dominated 1986 with five of the ten highest-grossing movies of that year — including the top two in "Top Gun" and "Crocodile Dundee"), but they couldn't have anticipated the film becoming a full-blown, adult-skewing blockbuster. Nevertheless, the erotic thriller about an extramarital fling that turns into a waking nightmare for the happily married Dan Gallagher (Michael Douglas) outperformed such heavy hitters as "Beverly Hills Cop II," "The Untouchables," and "Lethal Weapon" to become the second highest-grossing film of 1987 (behind the four-quadrant behemoth "Three Men and a Baby").
Why was the film such a pop cultural sensation? Every single element clicked perfectly into place. Lyne brought the sensual heat, James Dearden's screenplay tightened the screws with nerve-jangling precision, and the stars absolutely smoldered. Douglas and Glenn Close...

Aubrey Plaza will lead the cast of ‘Feel-Bad’ romance Liarmouth, which marks John Waters’ first directorial outing in two decades.
John Waters hasn’t made a film in 20 years, but he’s set to bring his demented brand of comedy back to the silver screen, along with a leading actor who should prove equal to his ambitions.
Waters’ last film was 2004’s A Dirty Shame which starred Tracy Ullman, Johnny Knoxville and Chris Isaak. That was his comedy about sex addiction. In the 1990s alone, Waters also gave us Pecker, which featured Edward Furlong taking pictures of perverts, and Serial Mom, the 1994 black comedy featuring the mighty Kathleen Turner as a mother who doubles as a serial killer.
Waters’ style is certainly unique and the idea of a new film from him after all this time is a welcome one. What’s more, he’s found a leading actor to...

Larry David is opening up about the end of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
The 76-year-old show creator and comedian shared his thoughts on his show coming to an end after 12 seasons in an interview with Extra‘s Billy Bush and Megan Ryte.
Keep reading to find out more…
“I feel like I probably should’ve gone out to dinner,” he said of how he’s feeling right now about the show.
Billy also asked about rumors that HBO begged Larry to do another season.
“We always hear different stories. One I heard was that they begged you to do another season and you said, ‘The way this one ends, I can’t do television again.’ Is that even remotely possible?”
Larry joked, “I’m very susceptible to a beg, okay? I can tell you there wasn’t a beg… There was no begging.”
He also said of the guest stars on the series: “First of all,...

While Larry David hopefully isn’t going anywhere, the story of “Larry David” will soon be coming to an end. HBO has confirmed that Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12 will be the final outing for the beloved comedy series about the largely improvised and (hopefully) fictionalized misadventures of star and creator Larry David.
How will Larry’s story end? Presumably not with him and his friends being sentenced to prison like in the much-maligned Seinfeld finale that David wrote, even if that would be a masterstroke of trolling. If the first official trailer for Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12 is any indication, Larry is going to go out the way he came in: complaining.
This trailer is notable for many reasons but the most compelling one in our estimation arrives early on. Take a look at the scene that begins around the 17-second mark. Is that none other than City Councilwoman Irma...

While “Curb Your Enthusiasm” fans rejoiced at the news that Larry David was making a 12th season of the HBO comedy series, they may want to savor the episodes once they drop. The show might be coming to an end after this next season.
“Curb” writer and producer Jon Hayman shared a tweet (which has since been deleted) in which he captured a photo of David “shooting the last scene of the last episode of the final season” of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Richard Lewis, who returned for Season 12 after a health-related absence from Season 11 save for one episode, similarly tweeted “goodbye” sentiments last week, saying it was “hard to believe” they started the show in 2000.
HBO declined to comment.
“Curb” launched in 2000 as the brainchild of David, with the “Seinfeld” co-creator playing an exaggerated version of himself. But after consistent new seasons every two years or so, David took a...

The Banff World Television Festival on Tuesday said it will give Montreal comedy impresario Gilbert Rozon this year's Sir Peter Ustinov award. Past Ustinov comedy honorees include Barry Humphries (Dame Edna), John Cleese, Bob Newhart, Martin Short, Tracy Ullman and Kelsey Grammer.
Rozon, who founded the Just For Laughs comedy festival which will celebrate its 25th anniversary this summer, will receive the tribute June 11 at a gala dinner.
In addition to providing an annual arena from which Los Angeles scouts and executives find talent for film and TV projects, the Just for Laughs festival has spawned a host of TV comedy shows that air in 125 countries and on 95 airlines.
Just For Laughs also is branching out from its Montreal roots by organizing comedy festivals in Toronto and Nantes, France.
The Banff World Television Festival is set to run June 10-13 in the Canadian Rockies.
