Hey batter batter! The World Series is kicking off on Oct. 23, and though the Cardinals and Red Sox will be settling the score on the field, the thing we’re more concerned about is which team looks sexier in their uniforms — and out of them!
Let’s get this out of the way — baseball can be boring. The games can take forever, the scores can be painfully low, but it does have one saving grace — the players, and those tight, form-fitting pants they wear. So with the Boston Red Sox squaring off against the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2013 World Series (starting on Oct. 23), we’ve put together a master list of the players you should be looking out for.

How can you not be romantic about baseball?
- Brad Pitt as Billy Beane in Moneyball (2010)
Unlike most other team sports, baseball is a game of individual achievements that culminate in a team’s efforts to win. Each batter stands alone at the plate, facing a pitcher who opposes him. Each defender on the field must make a play alone, or in conjunction with another defender. The cumulative efforts of each individual results in a team win or a team loss.
That is one reason why baseball has had such a strong hold on successive generations. It’s easy to imagine oneself as Babe Ruth hitting a called home run, or Don Larsen throwing a perfect game, or last year’s hero David Freese improbably winning Game Six of the World Series. These incredible moments come from one man stepping up at the right moment and delivering magic. Anyone who...

Maybe the whole baseball delay was a good thing, because imagine if we'd had to suffer through a months-long break after the end of tonight's episode, "Back to Where You've Never Been." Originally planned as the midseason finale, this mind-blower rolled credits after grabbing Fringe fans' jaws and slamming them to the ground (more on that later). But thanks to some late-game heroics from professional sports guy David Freese in November, we now only have to wait a... More >>...

First let's get one thing out of the way: Fringe got totally hosed by the weather gods back on Wednesday, October 26. That's the day rain postponed Game 6 of the World Series, pushing the series back and pre-empting Fringe on Friday, October 28 after the heroics of David Freese forced a Game 7. As a result the show's typical fall finale will now bat lead-off for the series once January 2012 rolls around. It also means we're left with "Wallflower" as our substitute fall finale, and that's probably like having Chris Carpenter pinch hit for Albert Pujols. For you non-baseball fans out... More >>...

Hot off his World Series win and Mvp title, St. Louis Cardinals’ David Freese is coming to ABC.

The third baseman will play himself on the show, appearing as Angel’s (Amaury Nolasco) favorite baseball player.

The St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series Friday night (Oct. 28) in considerably less dramatic fashion than the way they tied it on Thursday.
The Cards beat the Texas Rangers, 6-2, in Game 7 to win the 2011 World Series four games to three. Third baseman David Freese, who won Game 6 with a walk-off home run and had a two-run double in the first inning of Game 7, was named most valuable player of the series.
For casual fans without a rooting interest, Game 7 felt a little anti-climactic after Thursday's epic Game 6, in which the Cardinals came back from two-run deficits in the ninth and 10th inning before Freese's game-winning homer. The Cardinals took the lead in the third inning Friday and added runs in the fifth and seventh innings to close out the Rangers, who also lost in the World Series last year.
We're pretty sure fans in St. Louis couldn't care...

It is 9 p.m. on the East Coast, but anyone watching Fox at the moment sees a 2-2 World Series game in the bottom of the third inning, not the Fringe episode that promised fans the return of Peter Bishop.
Darn you, David Freese and your late-inning heroics in Game 6.
Fortunately, Fringe has made the best of this sports-related delay, re-editing the official promo for "Novation" to explain the mystery behind what happened to this evening's broadcast. It's funny stuff. Watch now.

If you're a fan of CBS's Friday-night schedule, David Freese is your new enemy. The Cardinals outfielder led off the bottom of the 11th inning of World Series Game 6 with a home run last night, forcing tonight's Game 7. And that's causing chaos in television scheduling.
CBS has pulled out of its Friday lineup, opting to yank new episodes of CSI: NY, A Gifted Man, and Blue Bloods so as not to see them crushed in the ratings by one of professional sports' biggest attractions. I know I'd rather watch a World Series... More >>...

Though Game 7s should be, by definition, the most dramatic games in sports, Game 6s have a better reputation for classic World Series games. The ball dribbled through Bill Buckner’s legs in a Game 6. Carlton Fisk waved his home run fair in a Game 6. Kirby Puckett hit his walk-off home run in a Game 6. Last night, St. Louis Cardinal David Freese, who hit only 10 home runs during the season, saved his team’s season with a two-strike, two-out triple in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the score and then hit a solo home run in the...

The St. Louis Cardinals won what some are calling maybe the best Game 6 of the World Series ever with a walk-off home run from David Freese in the 11th inning. Fan Dave Huyette could be seen running out onto the grassy knoll, grabbing the home run ball and basically curling up around it as more fans stormed the grass.
"Every time there was a chance there could be a walkoff home run ... I just assumed the position to get ready each time. At one point Albert [Pujols] had the chance to win the game and we thought that was going to be the time that it happened. But it didn't, he was intentionally walked," says Huyette, a 39-year-old radiologist from Maryvillle, Ill, to Yahoo's Big League Stew.
"Then Freese came up in the 11th and I heard the crack of the bat and everybody cheered and it was kind of in slow motion.

What a game. What an amazing ugly duckling of a game that turned into a swan by the end. To start, the game was fraught with errors - five total between both teams. It looked like the Keystone Kops had taken the field.
It was tied 4-4 going into the seventh inning and then the Rangers opened up a lead, scoring three runs off back-to-back homers and a single. It looked pretty bleak for the Cardinals, down 7-4. But the way the Cardinals have been playing since Aug. 25 means that the game isn't over until it's over.
The Cardinals put up one run in the bottom of the eighth and then a down-to-the-last-strike triple by hometown boy David Freese sent the game to extra innings tied 7-7. A quick two-run homer by Josh Hamilton put the Rangers back up 9-7 in the top of the 10th, but Lance Berkman responded...
