Exclusive: Ruby Cruz (Castle Rock) has landed the female co-lead opposite Ellie Bamber and Erin Kellyman in Willow, Disney+ and Lucasfilm’s upcoming TV series follow-up to the 1988 fantasy movie, with the film’s star Warwick Davis reprising his title role, I have learned. She replaced Cailee Spaeny, who had been originally tapped for the role, after an extensive recasting process. Lucasfilm declined comment.
The new incarnation of Willow, which also co-stars Tony Revolori, comes from Jonathan Kasdan, who wrote the pilot and serves as co-showrunner alongside Wendy Mericle; the original film’s director Ron Howard and writer Bob Dolman; as well as Lucasfilm, which produced the movie. Jonathan Entwistle is directing.
The Willow movie, written by Dolman from a story by George Lucas, starred Davis as a reluctant farmer who leads a ragtag crew on a quest to protect a special baby from a tyrannical queen who vows to destroy her.

Castle alum Stana Katic, Sarah Megan Thomas (Equity), and Radhika Apte (Padman) are set to star in an untitled female-driven Ww II spy drama set to begin principal photography this spring. Linus Roache (Batman Begins) and Rossif Sutherland (River) also have been cast in the project, based on the real-life spies in Winston Churchill’s “secret army”, from Thomas and Lydia Dean Pilcher (Queen of Katwe).
The film centers on British intelligence officer Vera Atkins, played by Katic, and two of the women she sends to France as spies, Virginia Hall (Thomas) and Noor Inayat Khan (Apte). Atkins is a crafty recruiter with a secret of her own. Hall is a daring American with a wooden leg who was the first female field agent and ultimately the spy the Nazi’s dubbed “the most dangerous of all,” and Khan is a pacifist of Indian descent who was the first female wireless operator.

Exclusive: Another very interesting sign from ICM by Jeff Berg‘s Resolution Agency. Leigh Brillstein gave her notice about 15 minutes ago after 25 years working for Berg and then recently Chris Silbermann. She ran ICM’s TV talent department twice and before that was at CAA, first as an assistant in the lit department and later as a talent agent, until 1980. She is, of course, the daughter of the late and legendary Hollywood manager and producer Bernie Brillstein. Update: “Leigh has a great eye for performers and has successfully overseen the careers of numerous award-winning actors while also serving as a mentor for a generation of younger agency colleagues,” Berg said in a statement. ”With the expansion of cable channels and the new digital platforms in addition to broadcast, Leigh’s expertise will become invaluable in helping assure that our clients are fully represented in all aspects of television.”...

Jelline new head of ICM TV talent department
Mike Jelline, a rising star agent at ICM, has been named head of the agency's TV talent department.
The 33-year-old succeeds veteran ICM agent Leigh Brillstein, who has stepped down as chief of the department while extending her deal as senior vp at the agency.
ICM president Chris Silbermann said the leadership transition "couldn't have been more easy and natural."
"Leigh has been grooming Mike as her successor for years," he said. "Mike was already doing a lot of the department running; he is a natural leader."
In his new capacity, Jelline will report to Ted Chervin, ICM's head of worldwide television. Additionally, he will report to Toni Howard, executive vp and head of motion picture talent, "in recognition of the fact that there is so much fluidity between the worlds of film and television in today's marketplace," Silbermann said.
Since joining ICM in 1997 as an assistant under Nancy Josephson and Risa Shapiro, Jelline has built a solid client roster of actors on established and buzz-worthy new shows across all broadcast and major cable networks.
