Comedian Jasper Redd is an intriguing mass of contradictions. If he had his druthers, his entire routine would be all about race, but he counts Jerry Seinfeld's trivial observations as a major influence. Even though he's often dressed up in Western attire to celebrate his Tennessee heritage, he's as savvy about the vagaries of Hollywood as any longtime Los Angeleno. And even though he's being doing comedy for almost a decade professionally, he admits that it's only recently that he's felt confident about being a stand-up.
We were lucky enough to see Redd for the first time a few years ago when he performed in Los Angeles to commemorate the release of "Frankenhood," a straight-to-dvd movie that was his first - and as of today, last - acting job. Since then, he's been traveling across the country to various venues, including college campuses, and bringing with him a comedic...

In the past few years Daniel Tosh has established himself as a very talented comedian. From his various stand up sets to his acclaimed Comedy Central program Tosh.0, he definitely knows how to tickle one’s funny bone. Fans of the cynical comic are certainly in for a treat with his latest performance Happy Thoughts now out on DVD. This marks the sarcastic humorist’s third special.
Filmed in San Francisco, Happy Thoughts is a more than adequate platform for Tosh to dump on pretty much everyone and everything. He is politically incorrect and knows how offensive he is. He starts things off appropriately by insulting his host city. He then informs the audience that he’s not good performing live hinting that he fares better on Tosh.0. He then dispenses jokes about random subjects starting with illegal immigration, jury duty, stereotypes and the law.
Tosh then talks about his girlfriend,...

Below are three clips from Frankenhood titled "Frankie Farts," "Frankie in the Bathroom," and "Girl on Treadmill." Frankenhood arrives on DVD May 5th 2009 (which was two days ago). Synopsis via Traileraddict.com: Motown (DeRay Davis, Semi Pro) and Darius (Jasper Redd, Totally Baked: A Pot-u-Mentary) work in a morgue, trading put-downs and toiling among the most undemanding of customers. Outside of their decidedly dreary jobs, the two dream of bigger and better things. If only they could win the $25,000 prize that will go to the winners of the upcoming 3-on-3 Streetball Tournament. One night, having been demoted to the graveyard shift, they catch their semi-sane colleague Franklin (Charlie Murphy, TVs Chappelles Show) in a dark alley using the auto battery of Motowns precious Gremlin to bring to life a monstrous dead man (Bob Sapp, The Longest Yard) whose heart Franklin has just replaced. Now if they can just get their...

Lionsgate just sent us the trailer for the upcoming Charlie Murphy comedy "Frankenhood," which is set to appear in stores on DVD on May 5th. Check out the trailer below. Plot: The story follows two ordinary guys, Motown and Darius, who dream about leaving behind their mundane and routine lives working at a morgue for a more exciting way of life. To their surprise, things quickly get interesting after they stumble upon their crazy co-worker attempting to bring a dead man back to life! Though strange and outrageous, the guys turn the unusual situation into an opportunity to win $25,000 by recruiting their "new" friend to enter a 3-on-3 basketball tournament! In addition to Murphy, the film stars DeRay Davis (Semi Pro), Jasper Redd (Totally Baked: A Pot-u-Mentary) and Bob Sapp (The Longest Yard). Trailer: If you cannot see the player, click here.

This one isn't really horror, more an urban comedy with a monstrous twist. But when a movie comes along called Frankenhood about a pair of streetball players that recruit a mad scientist to build them a franken-baller in order to win the big 3-on-3 tournament, I feel that deserves some notice.
Here's the synopsis for this new classic from the first-time director going by the name Blaxwell Smart(!):
