The Tree Of Life opens on May 27th. I know you already know what we’re talking about, and I’m sure you’re happy to hear that Terrence Malick‘s project is coming soon. So today we’re here to have a little chat about this quite interesting drama that, by the way, has an awesome cast – Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain.
Ok, the release date is May 27th, but according to IMDb, people in France will have a chance to see it first, on May 18th, 2011. So, we could talk about a premiere of The Tree Of Life at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, which will run from May 11-22 …? Of course, we don’t know it yet but still, we hope.
And that’s not all, because, thanks to guys from TheFilmStage, we now have even 72 new images from the movie to share with you!

Mirrors 2 Concept PosterThe plotline for Mirrors 2 is almost identical to the first with a nightwatchman guarding the remains of the Mayflower Department Store. Thankfully, some subplots have been introduced, as this latest watchman, played by Nick Stahl (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines), is attempting to recover from a tragic accident, which left his wife dead, by returning to the work force (Uhm). Except, a haunted department store is not a great place for recovery. This sequel will to straight to DVD October 19th, 2010 and this latest in the series was directed by Victor Garcia (Return to House on Haunted Hill). Have a watch of the first trailer for Mirrors 2, courtesy of Dread Central.

Director: Clay Liford Writer: Clay Liford Starring: Rebecca Spence, Peter Greene, Amelia Turner, William Katt, Matt Socia, Savanna Sears, Jennifer Sipes, Chris Doubek A spiky ball (resembling a large stress ball or a naval mine or maybe a seed pod from a sweetgum tree) drifts in space towards a space station. The three-man crew of the station picks up the strange object. One of the astronauts, Sean (Matt Socia), comes in contact with it; a strange pulse rings out, instantly killing the other two astronauts. Sean survives the encounter, but returns to Earth in a comatose state. Back on Earth there is a temporary brown-out that triggers Judith (Rebecca Spence) to suffer an epileptic seizure, which results in a car accident. Judith wakes up in the hospital, with no recollection of what happened. The doctors change her anti-seizure medication, assuming that she has grown immune to her previous dosage, and send Judith home.

Not so long ago (Ok, it's been nearly a year), we posted some news about a new scifi film by Clay Liford titled Earthling. It's the story of a small group of people aboard the International Space Station who wake up after a “mysterious incident” to discover that their lives are a lie and that they're actually aliens disguised as humans.
It's a fascinating story and one with a great cast which includes Rebecca Spence, Peter Greene, William Katt, Jennifer Sipes and Harry Goaz. The film is going to be making its world premiere at SXSW in a few months time and guess what? We've got your first look and it's a really nice one too.
The music is magical, the visuals gorgeous and the story...well, we already know that it sounds great. Cna't wait!
Trailer after the break.

Yah, you heard us right! We said “Mirrors 2″. As in, a sequel to the Keifer Sutherland horror movie “Mirrors” directed by Alexandre Aja that came out in 2008 and squatted a big fat goose egg. The lack of a box office punch ain’t gonna stop the powers that be, though....
Mirrors 2 will be a direct to DVD sequel to 2008’s Mirrors which starred Keifer Sutherland.
We hear the scribes are on set during certain gore/kill scenes so it sounds like this sequel is being cared for and looked after in stead of most sequel rush jobs we get, who knows maybe this one will be better than it’s predecessor! God we hope so.
Synopsis:
“When Max (Stahl), a recovering addict, takes a job as a night-time security guard job at his father’s department store, he begins to see visions of a young woman in the store’s mirrors.

Lesley Chen of Fox Home Entertainment provided us with a plot synopsis and casting news for the company’s sequel to last year’s Alexandre Aja-helmed Mirrors. Titled Mirrors 2 and directed by Victor (Return to House on Haunted Hill) Garcia from a script by Matt (White Noise 2) Venne, the planned direct-to-dvd film is currently shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and stars Nick Stahl, William Katt, Emmanuelle Vaugier, Lawrence Turner, Stephanie Honore, Christy Charlson Romano, Jon Michael Davis, Evan Jones, Wayne Pere, Lance E. Nichols, Ann McKenzie, and Jennifer Sipes.
The official plot synopsis is as follows: “When Max (Stahl), a recovering addict, takes a job as a night-time security guard job at his father’s department store, he begins to see visions of a young woman in the store’s mirrors. Unsure whether his visions are side effects of his prescription sleeping pills or actual reality, he begins to...

A few days ago Foy clued us in to the proposed remake of 1972's The Legend of Boggy Creek. At that time no details were available, but today a source close to the production dropped us a line with the names of not only the director but also several key cast members.
To be called simply Boggy Creek, the redux stars Damon Lipari (of the upcoming Wrong Side of Town) as Dave, Jennifer Sipes (Oliver Stone's W), Melissa Carnell, Samuel Haun, Carlos Tovar, Jennifer Minar, and Julin (pictured, of the upcoming Sweatshop and Spirit Camp) as Kay. It is being directed by Brian T. Jaynes, who just wrapped on the urban thriller Hittin' the Streets with Texas Battle and Toni Trucks.
Principal photography begins next month in Texas.
Keep it here for more on Boggy Creek at it comes.

Earthling is a new scifi film by Clay Liford that's heading into production next month. Besides sporting a pretty great ensemble cast including Rebecca Spence (Michael Mann's Public Enemies), Peter Greene (Pulp Fiction), William Katt (House, Carrie), Jennifer Sipes (W), and Harry Goaz (Twin Peaks), it's also got an intriguing and original premise.
After a mysterious atmospheric event aboard the International Space Station, a small group of people wake up to realize that their entire lives have been a lie. They are in fact aliens disguised as humans. Now they have to make a choice. Live amongst men, or try to find a way back home.
We first hear about the film through Fangoria who were told by the film's producer Barak Epstein that it was going to have "crazy alien gore." So is it scifi/horror? I guess we'll see. The film's full press release is after the break so have a look.

Got an email from Barak Epstein about a low-budget sci-fi movie he’s producing called “Earthling”. It’s got a pretty good premise for a sci-fi movie, one of those character-based dramas that happens to have a sci-fi slant. Not sure how much space lasers or grey aliens we’ll see in this one, but it doesn’t sound all bad. The film is currently in production with an eye toward a 2009 release. Here’s the plot: After a mysterious atmospheric event aboard the International Space Station, a small group of people wake up to realize that their entire lives have been a lie. Filmmaker/Producer Barak Epstein (Blood On The Highway, Prison-a-go-go!) got in touch with Fango tonight to spread the word about his latest project, Earthling. "It's gonna have some crazy alien gore!", he said about the sci-fi thriller that will begin lensing next month under the direction of Clay Liford (A Four Course Meal), who also penned the screenplay.
