The Marvel film Black Panther was a film that meant a lot to many, including Oscar-winner Denzel Washington. But Washington wasn’t just a fan of the movie, he helped inspire one of the film’s major characters.

Black Panther featured many memorable characters, and one of them was Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger. Jordan famously portrayed the villain in the 2018 Marvel film, and immediately caught attention due to his look. Killmonger had scars all over his body that was supposed to represent the people the character killed. This little detail was slightly inspired by a past Denzel Washington performance.
In 1989, the actor starred in the film Glory. There, he played a former slave whose body was marked with cuts due to his experiences. Honoring Washington at the Lifetime Achievement Award, the actor...

Some of the campiest WB teen soaps have taken inspiration from classic films, and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is no exception. The characters in this supernatural high school series rival the complexity of great cinematic figures from the films of acclaimed directors, and it's no accident — some of them were inspired by those very sources. In fact, one of Stanley Kubrick's most famous and terrifying films, "The Shining," had a big influence on one of the most formidable villains in "Buffy."
Jack Nicholson's leading performance in the 1980 psycho-thriller is not among the 12 in his career to bring him Academy Award recognition, and yet it remains one of his most celebrated. His role as the violent off-season inn-keeper of a remote haunted hotel has provided source material for a great many writers and actors alike, including Clare Kramer, who played the hell god Glorificus in "Buffy."

Acclaimed filmmaker Martin Scorsese has announced his plans to adapt Marilynne Robinson’s novel “Home” into a feature film. The novel, published in 2008, is the second in Robinson’s Gilead series, which explores the lives of the Ames and Boughton families in the fictional town of Gilead, Iowa12
Scorsese, who has previously adapted novels such as “The Last Temptation of Christ”, “The Age of Innocence”, and “Shutter Island” for the screen, said he was drawn to Robinson’s work by its rich and complex characters, its themes of faith and forgiveness, and its depiction of mid-20th century America34

“Home” follows the return of Jack Boughton, the prodigal son of a Presbyterian minister, to his childhood home after 20 years of absence. There, he reconnects with his sister Glory, who is caring for their dying father, and tries to make peace with his past and his future.

Ten years ago, responding to rumors he’d sought to retire, Martin Scorsese succinctly replied, “You’ll have to tackle me to stop me.” Like a lunar cycle following the director on the occasion of three-hour-plus epics starring Leonardo DiCaprio, received wisdom again has it the man’s looking to settle down–then again, a rather elegiac interview on the eve of Killers of the Flower Moon‘s debut would only generate attention of the sort.
Between that film’s Cannes premiere (we have reliably heard it’s very good) and October 20 release, a fantastic profile from Stephanie Zacharek mentions a couple of irons in Scorsese’s fire. Among “lots of movie projects” are an adaptation of Marilynne Robinson’s Home, companion novel to her Pulitzer-winner Gilead, and the synopsis of which is simply steeped in Late Style:
The Reverend Boughton’s hell-raising son, Jack, has come home after twenty years away.

The art of drag provides the opportunity to find yourself. That may sound odd considering the objective is typically to make yourself look like somebody else, but that transformation has a magical way of discovering something within yourself you never ever knew was there. Few films understand the power of drag like Sophie Dupuis's "Solo," a radiant and intimate story of queer life and a celebration of the queer community's connection to the art of drag.

One of the final comedy films of the summer has arrived — Emma Seligman’s “Bottoms” (2023). Co-written by Seligman, who directs, and Rachel Sennott, who stars as one of the main characters, the queer comedy film watches two unpopular teens plot a way to win over their popular crushes. They ultimately decide that a fight club is the best way to do this.
The antics of the Rockbridge Falls football team take a subplot to this main thread, until, of course, the two leading players realize what the club scheme is really all about. Some other conflicts of interest arise as the film goes on.
Here are the cast and characters of “Bottoms”:
Rachel Sennott as Pj in “Bottoms”
Pj (Rachel Sennott)
Pj, who loves overalls and suspenders, has a huge crush on Brittany (Kaia Gerber), and her hopeless romanticism combined with her refusal to quit leads her to take this crush to extreme lengths.

This article contains spoilers for The Lincoln Lawyer seasons 1 and 2.
It is a tumultuous time in Hollywood currently. The Writer’s Guild of America has now surpassed 100 days of strike action, and SAG-AFTRA is showing solidarity right beside them. Many television and film productions have been put on hiatus, which begs the question – has The Lincoln Lawyer even been renewed at this juncture?
Ted Humphrey, showrunner for the Netflix hit, confirmed that he and his writing team had already been working on a season 3 before the WGA began their strike action. An official renewal has not been announced, and there may be a delay in production for obvious reasons, but chances still look good we’ll see Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) and his team again. And thanks to the precedent set by the Mickey Haller book series, we have a good idea of what to expect from season 3.

The first episode of the second season of The Lincoln Lawyer ended with Mickey being hit by a metaphorical bombshell of information, and he won’t be able to do anything to get out of it. Russell Lawson happens to be the killer the LAPD police are on the lookout for, and Mickey is the one who is standing with wrongfully accused Jésus Menendez. It would be interesting to watch and understand how Mickey would be able to do it.
Spoilers Ahead
Mickey’s Tricky Situation
Mickey knows Russell is now his client, which means he can’t’ reveal what he’s done, there would be a lot of trouble he would get into if he directly or indirectly ratted him out to the authorities. He needs a foolproof plan to get out of this without causing any damage to himself or his firm. The only person he thinks could...

Good villains are hard to find, and even after teasing one for two seasons, The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Episode 2 brought Russell to an unsatisfactory conclusion.
Mickey hatched a plan that saw him kill more than two birds with one stone as he helped Glory Days out of a fix while saving an innocent client and freeing himself from a psychopath.
Most of what happened was quite satisfactory, apart from the resolution Russell got.
The show had teased him since The Lincoln Lawyer Season 1, and the cliffhanger was him watching Mickey as he went swimming.
He was given a grand entrance as he found a way into Mickey's life and had Mickey right where he wanted him.
Left without any course of action, Mickey sought Siegel's help, but honestly, he almost knew everything Siegel would say. He wanted to hear it from someone else, but he knew he was in...

Harrison Ford’s final performance as Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny could be looking at an underwhelming box office when the film opens exclusively in theaters on June 30. Analysts predict a $60 million to $70 million take for the fifth and final Indiana Jones film over a five-day holiday opening. While $60M would be a reason to celebrate for most movies, the Indiana Jones franchise carries a legacy that could warrant more of a return for Ford’s farewell performance as the intrepid archaeologist.
Dial of Destiny‘s 3-day opening is down from the $100.1M opening for 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, often hailed as the worst film in the franchise. Crystal Skull opened during Memorial Day weekend, securing $151.9M across five days. One could point to the mediocre reviews from Dial of Destiny‘s Cannes premiere as a reason for the...
