Chris and Rich Robinson are gearing up for the upcoming Black Crowes reunion tour by playing a series of under-the-radar acoustic shows under the moniker Brothers of a Feather.
They began the tour on Wednesday night at the London club Omera with a set that included Black Crowes classics like “Thorn in My Pride,” “She Talks to Angels,” and “Remedy,” along with covers of Little Feat’s “Willin’ ” and Manassas’ “So Many Times.”

Before heading out on the upcoming Black Crowes reunion tour, Chris and Rich Robinson will perform a string of acoustic gigs as Brothers of a Feather.
The Brothers of a Feather moniker borrows its name from the duo’s 2007 live album that similarly found the Robinsons performing stripped-down renditions of Black Crowes tracks.
The trek kicks off in London, England on February 12th — one day before the 30th anniversary of Black Crowes’ Shake Your Money Maker, released February 13th, 1990 — and comes stateside February 19th at Boston’s Brighton Music Hall.

The Black Crowes have broken up. Too bad, too. Looks like the riff between vocalist Chris Robinson and his guitar playing brother Rich Robinson has shaken some feathers from the Crowes' roost. Apparently Chris wanted a greater stake in the ownership of the band. Brother Rich had this to say: "I love my brother and respect his talent, but his present demand that I must give up my equal share of the band and that our drummer for 28 years and original partner, Steve Gorman, relinquish 100 percent of his share, reducing him to a salaried employee, is not something I could agree to." Shades of the Rolling Stones "hired gun" practices or a calculated tactic to afford them one final tour in the very near future? Either way, any upcoming Spring/Summer 2015 tours will be missed. In the interim, we've posted this wonderful concert from 2013.

As a token of his appreciation for the tremendous support his short film The Graveyard Feeder received during its festival run, director/co-writer Rich Robinson has posted it online in its entirety.
You can watch it below, but first here are the details on The Graveyard Feeder, which is in the process of being turned into a feature-length version.
In addition to co-writing (with Aaron Beck and Jeff Stepp) and directing the film, Robinson co-produced the project with Stepp, who also served as director of photography. Starr Jones (Lincoln, The Toolbox Murders) did the special F/X work and production design while Josh Chase (Take Shelter) did the sound design. Mick Hitz of the Big Wheel Production Group was the executive producer, and the rockabilly group The Bloody Jug Band contributed music for the soundtrack.

The Black Crowes have revealed they took a break from recording for "mental health reasons". The rockers, who broke up in 2002 before reforming again in 2005, admitted this time around they made the decision to part ways because they don't want to mess up their success by sticking around for too long.
"We called what we did before a hiatus, but that was really more of breaking up the band," frontman Chris Robinson explained. "Like anything, there was reasons to do it, personal reasons, soulful reasons, mental health reasons. But I think now, it's more like, 'Ok, we've been working f*****g hard for five years as well. Let's step away from this'."
The "Lions" hitmaker admitted the band, who recently released acoustic double record "Croweology", which spans their 20-year history, spent two and a half years creating seventh studio album "Warpaint" because he and guitarist brother Rich Robinson were "stupidly stubborn" and kept arguing.

Inependent production team, Rich Robinson & Neil Moore, are in the initial stages of prepping an extremely fun looking movie modeled after such 80's kid's flick favorites as The Goonies and Monster Squad. The film, called Slayers, is about a group of misfits who must band together to fight a growing threat of monsters in their sleepy little town." Yep, sounds like Monster Squad alright.
The first promo reel has made its way onto the interwebs and while I expect none of what we're seeing will make it into the finished product, it's clear the direction the project intends to go. Clearly a kid's flick, but not at all afraid to throw a little blood our way.
Check out the promo trailer for Slayers after the break.

One thing greatly missing from modern genre filmmaking is kid-friendly horror. I’m not talking about PG-13 mall-horror, but films geared toward younger audiences that can be enjoyed by both adults and children. We had The Gate and The Monster Squad in the 80s. What do today’s kids have?
Indie filmmakers Rich Robinson and Neil Moore are looking to change that with their upcoming flick, The Slayers, which is about a group of misfits who band together to fight a growing threat of monsters in their sleepy town.
Of The Slayers, the filmmaking duo took a wonderfully retro approach. "One thing we felt was important for us to hang on to was to find a cast that looks like everyday kids, forcing them to utilize their environment and ground them into reality using MacGyver style weapons. By doing so, we hope the viewer is reminded that these children are...

A pair of new projects are currently being prepped by writer/director Rich Robinson (who co-scripted and -helmed 2007’s Marcus) and producer/cinematographer Neil Moore for Backwoods Entertainment. One is a creature feature called The Colony, and the other is a youth-oriented horror/comedy in the Monster Squad vein titled The Slayers.
The Colony is set in the town of Eden Mills, where local sheriff Nick Whittaker must protect the residents from a pack of wolflike predators that dwell in an abandoned mineshaft. An update just fell into our inbox from the guys at Backwoods Entertainment about their follow up to the well-received indie Marcus (review), Dead by Dawn. Yeah, I know, not the most inspired of titles, is it?
A teaser has just been completed for Dead by Dawn to be used as a way to drum up funds to make the entire feature a reality. We’re not too clear on what it’ll be about but our last story on the project did have a snippet of plot; When murder befalls the small New England town of Juniper Falls, the citizens take justice into their own hands only to upset a malevolent force thirsty for blood and retribution.
The teaser can be seen at the official Dead by Dawn site, so get over to check it out and maybe finally find a good cause to donate your millions to. Rich Robinson...
