Cjz MD Nick Murray and CEO Matt Campbell are grappling with three major issues facing the screen industry as the company ramps up its production and development slates.
They identify the challenges as the rising cost of drama budgets; a shortage of top-class writers given the talent drain to the Us and UK; and finding original concepts for factual and factual entertainment shows.
Murray questions why drama is more expensive to produce than comedy, observing: “I don’t know that the additional money that goes into drama is necessarily visible on screen to the audience.
“The costs of drama are going up and we need to be making it cheaper. There are work practices which make it impossible to make drama at the price it should be made at. We should be employing people differently or with more flexibility,...

Jemaine Clement Is In A Predicament! An Exclusive Early Look At Jason Stutter's Gothic Crime Comedy!
Following a pair of sold out and raucously received festival screenings in Wellington, Jason Stutter's New Zealand gothic crime comedy Predicament is all set to launch its official site tomorrow offering most the first look at the film's full theatrical trailer. But you, the faithful Twitch reader, are not among that 'most'. For here, right now, we have an exclusive early look.
Flight of the Conchords star Jemaine Clement plays a major role in this one, along with Heath Franklin and Hayden Frost as a trio of would-be blackmail artists who have things go badly wrong.
The production design on this looks bang on, almost as bang on as the sense of deliciously macabre comic timing. Clement - always fantastic - looks to keep his fans coming back for more as the pasty faced con man, while the young stars are engaging and, yes, that Is musician Tim Finn...

Chicago – “The Lovely Bones,” which is directed by “The Lord of the Rings” director Peter Jackson with a relatively unknown executive producer credit from Steven Spielberg, has gone down in history as a poorly reviewed film that was based on a much better novel of the same name by Alice Sebold. “The Lovely Bones” was released on DVD and Blu-ray on April 20, 2010.
Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan stars as Susie Salmon in “The Lovely Bones” from Paramount Pictures.

Despite needing a higher-budget special effects department and featuring like a never-healing sore thumb one of the worst supporting performances in recent memory by the unknown Nikki SooHoo, the film did delicately tackle the sensitive issue of a pedophile murderer and rapist while still maintaining a “PG-13” rating. That role was hauntingly played by Stanley Tucci.

My introduction to Eric Bana came with Ang Lee’s Hulk and, on a more credible level, Steven Spielberg’s Munich. Somehow I completely missed the actor’s breakout role in the 2000 movie, Chopper, so I can’t say I’m excited or disappointed with the news that Bana may be signing on for a second run with this character, Mark “Chopper” Read. The first movie is based on the autobiography of the real criminal “Chopper” Read, and required Bana to pack on a fair amount of extra weight for the role. Now, according to comedian Heath Franklin, who stars in a live show inspired by Chopper titled “Make Deads,” there’s a rumor floating around that Bana may sign on for a follow-up picture.Moviehole.net reports on the rumor with a great amount of skepticism, and you can’t blame them. My introduction to Eric Bana came with Ang Lee's Hulk and, on a more credible level, Steven Spielberg's Munich. Somehow I completely missed the actor's breakout role in the 2000 movie, Chopper, so I can't say I'm excited or disappointed with the news that Bana may be signing on for a second run with this character, Mark "Chopper" Read. The first movie is based on the autobiography of the real criminal "Chopper" Read, and required Bana to pack on a fair amount of extra weight for the role. Now, according to comedian Heath Franklin, who stars in a live show inspired by Chopper titled "Make Deads," there's a rumor floating around that Bana may sign on for a follow-up picture. Moviehole.net reports on the rumor with a great amount of skepticism, and you can't blame them. Just look at the source - an unrelated comedian talking to The Herald Sun.

Comedian Heath Franklin revealed to Australia's The Herald Sun that he's heard talks of a possible "Chopper" sequel, with Eric Bana (The Hulk, Troy) returning to reprise the title role. "I've heard a rumor there's a sequel with Eric involved as well, but I don't know how much weight that rumor carries," he said. The original 2000 film was Bana's big break and tells the story of Mark "Chopper" Read, a legendary criminal who wrote his autobiography while serving a jail sentence in prison. Chopper dreams of making a name for himself as a legendary crime figure. His journey starts out as a wisecracking criminal failure, inside a maximum-security prison, but he manages to twist his life into a fascinating and wickedly funny take that the press and the public can't get enough of. Until we get confirmation, this is just a rumor. Bana will soon start promoting "The Time Traveler's Wife...
