If there was a list of the most violent games ever, Mortal Kombat and the Grand Theft Auto franchise would surely be on it. Which other games would make it to the list? When it comes to violence in video games, we have a long list.
So, it is unsurprising that one of the first things people look for in games is combat mechanics. How smooth is it? How responsive are the combat controls? These are the questions that keep getting asked in community forums. But what of the amount of violence? Can violence even be quantified?
The Most Violent Video Games Ever
After intense research, speculation, and conversations, we have settled on five games that make up our list of the most violent games ever released.

“Saturday Night Live Weekend Update” hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che minced no words on Saturday night while commenting on Ye (aka Kanye West) and Diddy’s respective recent headlines.
Referring to a recently filed lawsuit by former Ye employee Trevor Phillips — who accused the musician of anti-Black racism, homophobic and antisemitic outbursts in a lawsuit filed on Tuesday — Che noted, “In a lawsuit against Ye, a former employee claims that Ye compared himself to Hitler, minus the gas chambers.”
Che then quipped, “I, for one, am shocked to hear that Ye believes in the Holocaust.”
Moving on to another embroiled hip-hop star, Colin Jost noted an embarassing moment in a “Live with Kelly & Mark” repeat that aired this past week referencing Diddy — taped long before the current investigation over the mogul’s alleged wrongdoings.

Rapper Kanye West faces a new lawsuit filed in California, which alleges that he repeatedly subjected black employees to verbal abuse and made problematic statements wherein he praised Adolf Hitler as an “innovator.”
The lawsuit, filed by former employee Trevor Phillips, alleges West engaged in severe discrimination, harassment and retaliation. Phillips, an African American who worked for two of West’s ventures for nearly a year, claims that the rapper would frequently berate black individuals but never treated white employees in the same manner.
Phillips was employed by Yeezy, West’s clothing brand, in November 2022 and worked at the Donda Academy, a school founded by West near Los Angeles. Phillips witnessed West make derogatory statements about Jewish people, which included claims that they were persecuting him and that they were stealing his money.

Kanye West (Ye) was considered a successful rapper until a few years ago. However, this has changed recently, as both his behavior and controversial statements have led fans to believe that something is amiss with him. The recent events he has been involved in are a prime example of this.
West has been accused of some very serious allegations by his former employee in a lawsuit filed last Tuesday. The allegations include West’s bad attitude towards his employees, threatening them, racism, and even religious discrimination.

Kanye West, now known as Ye, has been sued by a former Yeezy and Donda Academy employee who claims the artist told students he wanted to shave their heads and lock them in cages, among many other explosive allegations.
Trevor Phillips joined the ranks of several former employees who have taken legal action against Ye by filing the lawsuit on Tuesday (April 2nd) in Los Angeles. Per reporting from NBC News and Rolling Stone, Phillips also alleges Ye frequently praised Hitler and once compared himself to the Nazi leader (“minus the gas chambers”), simulated masturbation during a one-on-one hotel room meeting, and threatened to punch Phillips during a “temper tantrum.”
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The lawsuit accuses Ye of verbally abusing Black staff and treating them “considerably worse than white employees,” as well as telling his employees that they could be fired for being “fat.

We’d like to think it’s hard to believe it has been an entire decade since Grand Theft Auto V hit shelves, but it’s not. It has been an excruciatingly long wait for GTA 6, and while no release date for the game itself has been announced, Rockstar Games has at least revealed that the first trailer will arrive on December 5th at 9 a.m. Est.

Trevor Phillips has achieved the rare distinction of becoming both a national treasure and something of a provocateur in the U.K.
Over the past four decades, he has turned his hand to writing, broadcasting, documentary-making, politics and even retail (he spent four years as president of U.K. department store John Lewis’s “partnership council”), among other public service pursuits.
Not that you’d know it from speaking to him. “I’m very lazy,” Phillips says self-deprecatingly, given his list of accomplishments (in 1999 he was appointed an OBE by Queen Elizabeth II for services to broadcast journalism). “I don’t really particularly like being on television. It takes a lot to get me out of my house these days.”
Despite this, from Monday Phillips will be appearing on Sky viewers’ televisions not once but twice a week: on the weekends presenting “Trevor Phillips on Sunday” (where he is covering...

London, June 6 (Ians) Eradicating Covid-19 from the world is not currently a "reasonable target", David Nabarro, a special envoy to the World Health Organization said on Sunday.
People will have to learn to live with the infectious disease, as there will be new variants emerging. This will be "the pattern for the futurea the Guardian quoted Nabarro as saying to Sky News.
"This virus isn't going away any time soon, there will be variants emerging."
"Humanity is going to have to learn how to co-exist with this virus, preventing it from spiking and then surging and causing hotspots of disease, and we're going to have to be able to do this for the foreseeable future," Nabarro told Sky News' Trevor Phillips on Sunday.

The Grand Theft Auto franchise has always relied on an army of memorable characters, and unless GTA 6 makes some drastic changes to the series, you can bet the upcoming sequel will feature plenty of new heroes, villains, and general ne’er-do-wells (as well as the excellent missions the series is known for).
Rockstar also routinely brings back classic GTA characters for new installments. Assuming that the studio continues to dive into this series’ surprisingly deep shared universe of criminals, there are quite a few characters we’d love to see make a return in what is rapidly becoming the most anticipated video game in the world.
Here are the legendary Grand Theft Auto characters we want to see more of in GTA 6:

This article contains spoilers for Better Call Saul Season 5 Episode 5.
While Mike Ehrmantraut is clearly the premiere option in Albuquerque if you have a need for a private investigator, cleaner, or fixer, he’s not the only choice available to members of the ABQs underbelly. Now, those other choices might not provide the same quality that we’ve come to expect of Mike, and they certainly don’t have the ever-present, even if hypocritical, moral fiber either. However, if Mike is unavailable, you can still find questionable help from seedy guys like “Mr.X,” aka Sobchak.
Played by actor Steven Ogg, Sobchak appeared in the latest Better Call Saul episode, “Dedicado a Max” as Jimmy’s second call after Mike was busy recuperating in Mexico. Jimmy calls the man that refers to himself as “Mr. X” to help him dig up some dirt on Kim’s client Kevin Wachtell. When...

6.16 Last Day On Earth
When a show's executive producer is taking cues from Lost, is that a good thing or a bad thing? For this half-season, The Walking Dead's actors and crew have promised to leave viewers shocked and dismayed with the season finale, with actors describing being sickened as they read the script. Would this sickening display be translated to the screen in the lurid style that The Walking Dead is known for?
After an odd cold opening featuring a blacked-out screen, lens flare, and whistling, The Walking Dead kicks off its season six finale with Morgan following the clues to Carol. A sign reading “You Are Alive,” a horse missing a rider, a dead body with a crucifix clutched in its hand.

Channel 4 has announced a one-off documentary about Britain's struggles with discussing race and diversity issues.
Things We Won't Say About Race (That Are True) is written and presented by campaigner Trevor Phillips, who has worked for 30 years at reducing discrimination and improving equality.
The programme will see Phillips speaking to Ukip leader Nigel Farage about whether attempts to adopt a multi-ethnic Britain was the direct cause for the creation of his political party.
Former Prime Minister Tony Blair will also speak about how New Labour supported diversity and equality, and how his party's work could continue.
Trevor Phillips said: "The dividing lines of race, religion and culture are probably the most dangerous flashpoints in Britain today - but they're also the ones we find hardest to talk about in public.
"This film points to ways in which we can say what's on our minds without being accused of being bigots.

In Grand Theft Auto, Rockstar Games’ sprawling, open-world, epic crime series, you assume the role of a criminal, tasked with amassing wealth, evading the cops, and taking down those who have wronged you. This plot holds true in virtually all of the major releases by the New York based studio. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing – it allows casual players to enjoy the game without being bogged down by a story, but it also allows fans of the story to be engrossed by it. It’s a happy balance.
At the same time, that’s where the problem arises. Behind all the explosions, car chases, and gunshots, Rockstar tried to put a heart into it’s protagonists. Again, not necessarily a bad thing. Bringing the protagonist to life is great, it lets the player get more emotionally attached to the character, their trials, tribulations, and essentially, that character’s life.

Gaming protagonists run the gamut from righteous super heroes to apathetic anti-heroes, but they’re rarely outright unlikable jerks unless the player has some option to be evil. In fact, many video game heroes are portrayed as charismatic or weak for plot purposes, but as soon as the player regains control of the main character, their dark side is unleashed.
Yes, there’s a strange duplicity when it comes to action heroes. When it’s cutscene time, they’ll show you a cheerful smile and crack a joke or two, but when gameplay is involved, they’ll ruthlessly slaughter dozens, even hundreds of enemies like they’re nothing if the situation calls for it.
The reason for this is that they are nothing. They’re computer programs for bloodthirsty players to wipe out. The mechanics of these games necessitate that the player character be a murderous psychopath, otherwise...

Reporter Sam Rubin confusing Jackson with Laurence Fishburne is an all-too-common mistake that reminds black people of our outsider status
"Did you get a lot of reaction to that Super Bowl commercial?"
"What Super Bowl commercial?"
Sam Rubin, entertainment reporter for the "No 1 morning show in Hollywood", has just made an epic blunder – confusing his guest, actor Samuel L Jackson (who's black), with Laurence Fishburne (he's also black, and also an actor), who really did appear in the commercial.
Jackson's reaction is classic. He tells the squirming reporter: "We may all be black and famous but we don't all look alike." And he doesn't let up: "You're the entertainment reporter for this station and you don't know the difference between me and Laurence Fishburne? There must be a very short line for your job."
What makes the error even worse is that the Super Bowl advert played on Fishburne's high-profile...

Feature Luke Holland 2 Oct 2013 - 06:15
With spoilers, Luke examines a disturbing moment in GTA V, and asks whether it's a legitimate part of its story, or a gratuitous misstep...
Nb: This article contains GTA V spoilers.
When you're introduced to Trevor Phillips, you're hardly left uncertain as to whether he's a pleasant man. His introduction sees him engaged in a conjugal act across a kitchen bench; his bedraggled companion only complicit, we discover, in exchange for a blast or two of free meth. Outside, bench-lady’s biker boyfriend meekly voices protestations. So Trevor smashes a bottle in his face and casually stamps him to death.
It’s a moment that’s easily shrugged off in the blithely nihilistic world that Rockstar’s created; one imbued with a detached, satirical tone sharpened to a hypodermic point across the years since 1997’s original. Yet there’s one moment in GTA V that sticks out – one that,...

Over a decade ago, Dma Design (aka Rockstar North) shocked and wowed the video game community with its release of Grand Theft Auto III. As the crime-driven series’ first attempt at employing gameplay that revolved around a third-person, behind the back camera scheme, the experimental title quickly proved to be a great success, and has since paved the way for multiple sequels, spin-offs and copycats. In fact, GTA III will go down in history as being one of the most important and impactful games of all-time, and we have it to thank for one of this console generation’s best releases and potential swan song, Grand Theft Auto V.
Instead of returning to New York-influenced Liberty City, like its most recent predecessor and aforementioned grandfather, Grand Theft Auto V revisits the mean streets of sunny San Andreas (California, if you will), where the weather is warm and the countryside is rough and desert-like.

Ai Weiwei: It was about real people
Brilliant. It was very, very well done. This was about Great Britain; it didn't pretend it was trying to have global appeal. Because Great Britain has self-confidence, it doesn't need a monumental Olympics. But for China that was the only imaginable kind of international event. Beijing's Olympics were very grand – they were trying to throw a party for the world, but the hosts didn't enjoy it. The government didn't care about people's feelings because it was trying to create an image.
In London, they really turned the ceremony into a party – they are proud of themselves and respect where they come from, from the industrial revolution to now. I never saw an event before that had such a density of information about events and stories...

A new report has criticised soaps for failing to represent ethnic viewers and creating stereotypical characters. Five soap Neighbours was singled out for being "all white", while Coronation Street and EastEnders were attacked for having Asian shopkeepers and black single mums. Trevor Phillips, Chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, said broadcasters were "hideously white" when choosing programmes. "I don't think anybody here is saying British (more)...
