From MTV Buzzworthy:
Tallahassee, Florida natives and pop-punk stalwarts Mayday Parade are set to release their self-titled third album on Oct. 4, and today, Buzzworthy's got the premiere of their new single, "When You See My Friends." Taking a cue from their last single "Oh Well, Oh Well," "When You See My Friends" reminds us once again that breaking up can really suck sometimes. Ok, all the time.
"When You See My Friends" is a swelling mid-tempo ballad set to bursting drums and heavy guitars interspersed with a few acoustic plucks, over which a seemingly heartbroken Derek Sanders sings of a love gone sour. "When you see my friends, tell 'em 'Hi' for me/And tell 'em what you think about the way you handled everything." Ouch. Also, does anyone have a coming-of-age relationship montage they need scored? 'Cause I think these guys can help. Also, who keeps breaking up with Mayday Parade?...

In this media-saturated age, it's getting harder and harder to shock people, especially with music videos. But every once in a while, a clip comes along that really turns heads and gets the band in question a load of (perhaps unwanted) attention. Such is the case with Florida pop-punkers Mayday Parade, whose video for "Kids in Love" has raised a whole lot of eyebrows with its graphic depictions of sex, drug use and violence. The video — which somewhat resembles the "Europe montage" from "The Rules of Attraction" — has been banned from YouTube and has also earned the group a bit of backlash from their fans, who have called it "pointlessly explicit." "The negative reaction, it bothers me," Mayday Parade frontman Derek Sanders told MTV News' James Montgomery on Wednesday (April 28). "I hate to see people say they've lost respect for us or that they're no longer going to be fans of our band,...

When Mayday Parade — a nice little pop/punk act from Tallahassee, Florida — decided to make a video for "Kids in Love," the second single from their Anywhere But Here album, they wanted something that "pushed the boundaries." But in their wildest dreams, they never thought they'd end up with something like this.
Ever since its premiere earlier this month, the "Kids" clip — three-plus minutes of sex, drugs, violence, nudity and even more drugs — has been banned from YouTube, angered a portion of Mayday's fanbase and somehow become a rather unexpected phenomenon. And it's all the guys in the band can do to hold on while all of this unfurls around them.

Yesterday saw the release of a handful of high-profile new albums from Tokio Hotel, Backstreet Boys, Toby Keith and Kiss, but a glance at the iTunes album sales chart revealed something interesting. Among the still-strong sales of Paramore's Brand New Eyes and Jay-z's The Blueprint 3 sits Anywhere But Here, the second album from Tallahassee, Florida's Mayday Parade. The group has been on the road constantly in the lead-up to the release of the album (they're currently on tour with the Academy Is...), and it appears as though their grassroots approach has paid off.
"It's been a really long time for this album," singer Derek Sanders told MTV News on the phone from Salt Lake City, Utah. "We started thinking about it after Warped Tour last year, and haven't really stopped since."
Anywhere But Here represents a transition for the band, as it represents the first release after the departure of former singer Jason Lancaster.
