This article contains spoilers for Batman #118.
There’s no bigger single title in the DC Comics library right now than the core Batman book. Consistently the book where the future of the Dark Knight is made each month, it’s also been the DC title with perhaps the longest unbroken run of the highest-possible-octane creative teams in superhero comics over the last 15 years. Since 2006, Batman has been written by Grant Morrison, Scott Snyder, Tom King, and James Tynion IV, each bringing their own flavor to the book over extended, sprawling runs.
The latest writer to hit the bat-jackpot is Joshua Williamson, who has had a string of creative successes of his own over the last few years, but who is perhaps best known for an unbroken five year run on The Flash, where he renewed and restored countless elements of not just Barry Allen’s history, but the entire Flash legacy.

We're usually fans of spreading the wealth, but we can't disagree on this one...

The most relatable part in West Side Story is during the Quintet when Anita sings about how excited she is to get absolutely railed that night

Imagine seeing critics group winners and getting upset that it doesn’t push an Oscar narrative.
— Brian Formo (@BrianFormo) December 3, 2021
We're going to be seeing a lot of the latter probably! It's such a weird part of the awards circus.
More curated tweets for amusement and discussion after the jump including a killer Rami Malek impression, Adam Driver ubiquity, and Thomasin McKenzie's voice...

Madrid, Jan 7 (Ians) Laliga leader Atletico Madrid became the highest profile victim of a giant-killing act when it was knocked out of the Copa del Rey by third-tier side Cornella.
A seventh-minute goal from Cornella defender Adrian Jimenez on Wednesday knocked Atletico out of the tournament at an early stage for the second year in succession, reports Xinhua news agency.
Atletico coach Diego Simeone fielded a strong side which included B-team defender Ricard Sanchez, who blotted his copybook when he was sent off for two yellow cards in the 63rd minute.
Granada needed extra-time and a 116th minute winner from Darwin Machis to get past Cultural Leon, who, like Cornella, also play in Segunda B.
Marc Roviola put Cultural ahead after three minutes, and it looked as Atletico's conquerors from last season were set to produce another upset, but Jorge Molina equalised in the 19th minute.

Marielle Heller’s Can You Ever Forgive Me? is a subtle study of a woman clinging to relevance in a world that not only has forgotten about her, but never took her into consideration in the first place. It’s about isolation, and loneliness, and people that already live at the margins marginalizing themselves even more. But it is also a rare, realistically moving portrayal of queer friendship; of the friendship of a woman with a man that’s just as forgotten and isolated as she is.
The screenplay adaptation of Lee Israel’s memoir by Jeff Whitty (of Avenue Q fame) and Nicole Holofcener (of many great pictures fame) tackles the relationship between Lee and Jack (Melissa McCarthy and Richard E. Grant in career-best performances) with nuance and bite, and never gives in to "likeability". Whitty and Holofcener know that sometimes friends happen to just not like each other.

Last week we dove into the nominees for Original Screenplay. Unlike that category, which feels up in the air with a batch of uneven contenders, the adapted nominees reflect a much richer group of screenplays overall. From the pitch-perfect blending of genres and race-commentary in BlackKklansman, to the lyricism and poetry of If Beale Street Could Talk, and from the snark and melancholy in Can You Ever Forgive Me?, to the dark ironies that permeate through all the tales in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, andthe interpersonal relationships against the backdrop of superstardom in A Star Is Born, each nominee says what it needs to say in a way only it could have. Let’s have a look at each of the nominees...

The Globes are known for shaking things up a bit. As we could see last night, it’s not always necessarily for the best. However, the much looser environment of the show allows them to have more fun with presenters, and the gathering of both film and television stars usually leads to unexpected combinations of people and bursts of chemistry.
In our now annual tradition, here is the third annual ranking of the Golden Globe presenters:...

2017 has been a rough year for all of us. But with just about ten days remaining until we step into the terrifying unknown, it’s really trying its best to go out on a high note, or high as it can get at this point.
After a teaser was revealed yesterday, a full trailer was finally released this morning for the all-female reboot of the famed Ocean’s franchise, Ocean’s Eight, starring every actress you ever wanted to see together and directed by Hunger Games helmer Gary Ross.
Watch it once. Watch it twice. Watch it a dozen times. And then go after the jump to see the Yes, No, and Maybe So’s.

Juan of the Dead: A worthwhile addition to the zombie movie genre arrives courtesy of director Alejandro Brugués and his Havana-set horror comedy with the best title at Tiff. Its politics reference George Romero, while the buddy humor is sure to remind you of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, but Juan earns admittance due to its nimble blend of irreverence, guts, and honor. When a typical outbreak seizes the capital city, a group of five survivors led by the titular Juan (Alexis Díaz de Villegas) band together to not only stay alive, they look to make a profit by becoming a team of for-hire killers. In a good twist, the walking dead aren’t referred to by their commonly known name; instead, they are called “dissidents” by Juan, his buddy Lazaro (Jorge Molina), and their crew (Juan’s daughter, a ladyboy hustler and his muscle-bound protege who faints at...

The Arizona Underground Film Festival keeps picking and screening the best in world extreme cinema and their fourth annual edition, which will run Sep. 16-24 in Tucson is no exception, compiling outrageous cult epics from countries such as Japan, Switzerland and Cuba; as well as some local nastiness produced in the fest’s own backyard.

While the opening night film is a big name affair, Auff is also celebrating local freaky film fare with films such as the film noir Sweet Love and Deadly, directed by Paul Clinco; and the horror comedy Dick Night, directed by Andy Viner.
