Disney+ managed to break through the streaming noise with another title on Nielsen’s charts for the week of August 21 to August 27.
The latest Star Wars spinoff Ahsoka fought its way to No. 5 on the overall list and No. 2 among streaming originals with the Tuesday release of the series’ first two episodes. With just under a week of viewing, the episodes tallied 829M viewing minutes.
Nielsen credits Disney’s strategy to revive appointment viewing among streaming audiences, since new episodes of Ahsoka launched on Tuesday evenings, a time when many viewers would be able to tune in sooner rather than later to avoid spoilers.
HBO’s sports dramedy Ballers is also still finding success since it launched on Netflix. After making it onto the Top 10 overall list in its first week on the streamer, Ballers moved up to No. 7 overall and No. 5 among acquired content, despite dropping 6% in viewership to 656M minutes this week.

Suits extended one streak on the streaming TV charts for Aug. 14-20, but another one came to a close.
The legal drama, which streams on Netflix and Peacock, was the top title in Nielsen’s weekly rankings for the ninth consecutive week. It more than doubled the viewing time total of its the second-place show, Netflix’s Painkiller.
The total viewing time for Suits, however, dipped below 3 billion minutes for the first time since the week of June 19-25 — to a still very strong 2.84 billion minutes. The series had set a Nielsen record for the most consecutive weeks over 3 billion minutes of viewing at seven; only two other shows (Outer Banks and The Night Agent) have hit that mark in 2023, and for only one week each.
Painkiller led the original series top 10 with 1.12 billion minutes of watch time, while the prior week’s leader, The Lincoln Lawyer, slipped to second place with 768 million minutes.

After a four-week streak, Suits didn’t manage to break its own record for viewing minutes in a single measurement week from July 24 to July 30.
But that doesn’t mean the mania around the legal dramedy has slowed down. The series still drew a massive 3.6B viewing minutes across Netflix and Peacock and, once again, reigned over Nielsen’s streaming charts.
Suits has now aggregated more than 20B viewing minutes in the six weeks that it has been atop Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10, which is quite a feat. In fact, it now holds the second-most viewing minutes for a streaming program in six consecutive weeks. Stranger Things is No. 1, holding a 7B minute lead thanks to its lengthy fourth season, which captivated audiences last summer.
Suits pushed past Wednesday by just 43M minutes to take second place. The Addams Family series now sits in third place, while Ozark is in fourth place.
