Brentwood's elite private school, The Archer School for Girls, has landed some major Hollywood names for featured gigs as keynote speakers during the past five years of the Archer Film Festival. The sixth annual edition, which kicked off Wednesday night at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills, was no different.
Lucasfilm president and uber producer Kathleen Kennedy delivered opening remarks to open this year's fest, following in the footsteps of previous keynote speakers including J.J. Abrams, producer Nina Jacobson, Fox Animation's Vanessa Morrison, and writers Melissa Rosenberg and Amanda Brown. But Hollywood's boldfaced names aren't the only stars at this event....

In a preemptive deal, Paramount has bought the feature pitch “Eternal” from writers Dan Frey and Russell Sommer, who previously teamed on the Black List script “Bleeding Kansas,” an individual with knowledge of the deal has told TheWrap. Mary Parent‘s Disruption Entertainment will produce “Eternal,” which is described as a grounded superhero story in the vein of “‘Chronicle’ meets ‘Highlander.'” Paramount had no comment on the deal. It’s no secret that the number one cause of arguments among couples and families is the root of all evil - money. And that’s a subject that crosses all categories regardless of race, class or social standing. However, increasingly, there is growing interest in the widening wealth gap, and how it especially impacts black families. And that’s the subject that inspired Brooklyn-based community organizer, business outreach strategist, and now filmmaker, Amanda Brown, to make her documentary, Black Heirlooms. The film is based on Ms Brown's personal experience - when her 86 year old grandmother became ill, as her 8 children became irreconcilably divided over her small estate. As Ms....

I am going to make a prediction now. I think that the Swon Brothers are going to win this whole thing. What do you think of that, America? I think you love it! The Okies from Muskogee will not be stopped. They will sing songs about not burning draft cards and America will just plead for more like hysterical yet surprisingly conservative teenagers. And actually, isn’t that really what the entire country is? So maybe this is only natural. Cassadee Pope, “Wasting All These Tears”So, full disclosure, I was not the biggest Cassadee Pope fan last season. She was fine, but I was a real Amanda Brown and Trevin Hunte fan. Like, I actually listen to their version of “Vision of Love” every day, and I do not really do that with “This Is the Voice” all that much. That being said, Cassadee was okay, her makeover was intense,...

Cassadee Pope came to seem like the inevitable winner of Season Three of The Voice. The young Florida singer, fresh out of her major-label contract with her previous band Hey Monday, sang her way into a career reboot and last night took the Voice title for Team Blake, champs now for the second season in a row.

I'm not one to gloat or say such things as "I told you so," but I must take this moment to run a victory lap. I had many of naysayers, but in the end, my non-scientific way of collecting data (i.e. my gut instinct) predicted a Cassadee Pope win weeks ago! I mean, I respect Terry McDermott and Nicholas David as much as the next person, but this show was Cassadee's to win. Here were my favorite performances from the finale week:
The Voice Cast, Hallelujah
In wake of the devastating massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary, the entire Voice cast (Christina Milian and Carson Daly included) sang a moving tribute. Standing behind a row of candles, each cast member held a placard with the name and age of each victim. It was emotional, haunting and beautiful.
Cassadee Pope, Cry

"The Voice" winner was crowned on Tuesday night and Cassadee Pope took home the title of Season 3 champion.
Cassadee's fellow member of Team Blake, Terry McDermott, was the runner-up and Nicholas David of Team Cee Lo came in third.
"I love you guys. You're the weirdest, most amazing men I've ever met," Cassadee told Nicholas and Terry before the results were revealed. "I'm going to miss hanging out with you every single day." She added, "I would happy to lose to either one of them, but to win would just be absolutely incredible."
But all of the "The Voice" finalists were winners: The Top 3 each won a brand-new Kia, courtesy of St. Cee Lo Green, who was certainly in the Christmas spirit.

Well, third time was apparently the charm for ladies' luck with "The Voice." After two consecutive male champions, 23-year-old Floridian pop punker Cassadee Pope was crowned the winner. She was the favorite to win this year and constantly had songs on iTunes' Top 10, which gave her many, many extra votes.
Naturally, as with any season finale results show, "The Voice" filled up 120 minutes with plenty of musical acts until the results were revealed. Though Rihanna and Bruno Mars also took the stage, we've decided to only take a look at the performances that include coaches, finalists or other former "Voice" Season 3 competitors because who are we to tell you that "Diamonds" is Rihanna's worst single yet (it is) and Bruno Mars' song was a trip to snoozeville (Christina seemed to struggle to keep her eyes open)?

With the highest number of votes in 'Voice' history, season three came to a close on Dec. 18 with a night of great music, a farewell to coaches Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green -- oh yeah, and a winner was crowned, too! Did the right person win? Well, fellow Voice fans, that's all she wrote. Season three is a wrap, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green have said their good-byes, and one finalist was named the winner -- that's not even mentioning all the musical guests who stopped by! What a night! The Music Rihanna opened the show with a pre-taped performance of "Diamonds". She looked stunning, but it's time she choose a new single and start performing that. Agree? Each artist was given the choice to bring back artists from the season to join them one last time. Terry McDermott chose to perform with Rudy Paris, Amanda Brown, Bryan Keith,...

You knew it was an Important Night on The Voice because not once did social-media dingbat Christina Milian begin one of her excruciating interview segments by screeching her go-to salutation, “Hey-ey, what’s Up, Carrr-son?”

"The Voice" lived up to its name this season, showcasing plenty of powerhouse talents like Trevin Hunte, Amanda Brown, and of course the final three: Cassadee Pope, Terry McDermott and Nicholas David. One of them will be crowned "The Voice" on tonight's season finale.During Monday's final performances, Cassadee killed her rendition of "Cry," Nicholas had some fun with "Great Balls of Fire" and Terry and judge Blake Shelton's duet of "Dude Looks Like a Lady" was definitely entertaining. So, who do we think will win?Cassadee Pope seems like the obvious choice -- she’s been in the lead in iTunes chart sales throughout the competition. The pretty brunette has support from musicians like Pete Wentz and the group All-Time Low, and an (already) huge fan base from her rock group Hey Monday. See Cassadee's final performance below:Cassadee definitely has a pop star charm about her – think Carrie Underwood...

While The Voice will crown its season three champion tonight, those contestants who didn't make it to the finals have already started to reenter the world after months of being sequestered by the show. Although people like Amanda Brown and Trevin Hunte have become familiar names to millions of fans of the show, they didn't know that. Brown tells Rolling Stone she found that out abruptly after speaking her mind on gun control.

I’m not going to lie: It took me maybe 10 or 15 seconds to recognize a shirtless, wig-wearing Adam Levine playing guitar during Terry McDermott and Blake Shelton’s “Dude Looks Like a Lady” duet during Monday night’s Season 3 performance finale of The Voice.
Apparently, though, there’s at least one Voice contestant who’d be even less effective than myself in a police-lineup situation.

After the last two weeks' eliminations on NBC's The Voice, I really I didn't know what to believe in anymore. Two weeks ago, an extremely talented fan favorite, Dez Duron, was sent home, and last week Adam Levine's last two mentees, including powerhouse rocker Amanda Brown, left as well. It's times like those when you just have to wonder what all of the voters in America were thinking. So tonight, the Fab Four became only three, and I was bracing myself for another one of my favorites to leave. “Sometimes when we’re at our most vulnerable is when we truly let people in to figure out who we are as artists,” declared Carson Daly at the top of The Voice Season 3 results telecast. Naturally, the super-efficient host’s use of “we” got me wondering if I’d somehow missed an important biographical detail from his past.
Was Carson ever in one of those post-nkotb boy bands that never quite ignited the public’s imagination? (That would imply the guy gets, or has gotten, jiggy!) Does he moonlight as an acoustic troubadour, playing coffee houses up and down the California coastline?...

The real story last night wasn't the continuing triumph of Cassadee Pope (who has long been assured a spot in the finals due to the cumulative vote tally) but rather Nicholas David's tearjerking tribute to his pregnant wife. The Voice‘s Season 3 semifinals featured the Top 4 contestants travelling to faraway lands — and I’m not talking about their American Idol-esque hometown visits.
Trevin Hunte went all the way to heaven (where angels wear baby blue nightgowns and play classical instruments). Nicholas David sojourned to Miss Havisham’s burnt-out Amish-country vacation house (where a sad red wagon waited longingly for a little boy to come and play with it). Cassadee Pope flittered away to Faerieland (“Because she is made of Pure Magic!” cried her mentor, Blake Shelton). And Terry McDermott detoured at a vast cathedral before he continued on his way to Mordor.

I'm going to start this week off by sending bittersweet farewells to two of my favorite contestants this season. Melanie Martinez and Amanda Brown are both unique, bold, entertaining artists. I can't help but feel America really got it wrong this week. But things turn around quickly: Adam offered Melanie a record deal on the spot. And I can surely attest, Amanda, if you just hang in there and keep trying, good things will most definitely come your way.
These are my favorite performances last week:

It's a good thing Nicholas sang this song second. Cee Lo assigned September to him first and I was certain Nicholas was going home. Then he sang this little diddy straight from the land of Oz. He was personally connected to this song and it showed.

Though both singers had proven to be fan favorites for Season 3, the hopefuls had an inkling they'd be going home.
"You kind of have this feeling in your heart. I definitely kind of just felt it and it's totally okay," Melanie told AccessHollywood.com's Laura Saltman following "The Voice" on Tuesday. "I mentally prepared myself. I'm just really excited for moving ahead and just really continuing on with my career.

After Monday night's showing on The Voice it was hard to predict who might be cut during last night's elimination. It seemed impossible that America would send Amanda Brown packing, but that's just what happened, along with teen teammate Melanie Martinez. The poised Brown, who had never so much as sang a pitchy note on the show, seemed a shoo-in for the final four until Monday when Trevin Hunte and Terry McDermott went a-gunning and both wound up on the top of the iTunes chart overnight. Brown's elimination seemed to catch many viewers by surprise,...

Two more singing hopefuls got the axe this week as season three of 'The Voice' begins its sprint to the finish line! Did the right two get sent home? The Voice is nearing the end of its season, which means every elimination from tonight on is going to be a difficult one. As the top four were revealed, one more coach joined Christina Aguilera in the losers category with no contestants left in the game! The Music Amanda Brown joined Ne-Yo on his new single "Let Me Love You". I actively dislike Ne-Yo and his whole "whining-as-singing" shtick, but this performance was fun. Amanda sounded great and seemed to be having a total blast, so that's all that matters to me. Terry McDermott and Trevin Hunte teamed up on "Feel Again". Trevin sounded super shaky when he began the song, and the duo had an odd chemistry on stage,...

"The Voice" Top 4 were revealed on Tuesday night after two more contestants were eliminated: Melanie Martinez and Amanda Brown.
"I never expected to get this far and this is beyond what I've ever dreamed of," a brave-faced Melanie said after being eliminated. "I'm just so glad I got to express who I am as an artist and really touch people's hearts because that was the ultimate goal."
Terry McDermott and Cassadee Pope of Team Blake are moving on, along with Team Cee Lo's Trevin Hunte and Nicholas David, who round out the Top 4. Tuesday's results eliminated coach Adam Levine's team from the competition.
Before the results were announced, Nicholas broke some of the awkward tension by reminiscing about "The Voice" cast's good times.
"It has been the experience of a lifetime, the opportunity of a lifetime, the dream of a lifetime," he said. "But we have become a family in doing this,...

The Voice"'s top six contestants were under double pressure Monday night when they had to sing two songs each. But there was even more stress at Tuesday's elimination.

"The Voice" eliminated two contestants on Tuesday night. Melanie Martinez and Amanda Brown went home, leaving Terry McDermott, Trevin Hunt, Nicholas David, and Cassadee Pope as your Top 4 contestants for Season 3. Yes -- this means that like Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine no longer has a horse in the race.
Before getting sent home, Amanda and Cassadee sang Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" as a duet. Melanie took Christina Aguilera's advice and sang Fiona Apple's "Criminal" with Nicholas -- and it was a truly excellent song choice for her particular vocal chops.
Adam seemed relatively zen about losing his final two contestants. As several of the coaches have pointed out, winning isn't necessarily everything -- several non-winner contestants have gone on to moderate success following "The Voice" runs.

After Monday night's Top 6 performed for America's vote, eliminations were in store for The Voice contestants once again on Tuesday. With only the best of the best still around, two more competitors were told to hit the bricks.
Filled with five performances from the contestants, as well as special guests Ne-Yo and Matchbox 20, there wasn't That much time to get opinions from the coaches on how everything shaped up.
Carson did, however, find a moment to commend Cee Lo on having pushed his button back in the Blind Auditions for every single member of the Top 10. Hold on a second. Is that really the story? Yes, he has finally put together a quality team this season, but let us not forget that he pushed his button for what seemed like everyone who came on stage back in September.

Cee Lo Green declared that he doesn’t view The Voice as a competition, but rather “a coexistence.” Blake Shelton, on the other hand, said he’d do anything to ensure he’d have the last two contestants standing in Season 3. And as for Christina Aguilera, her mind was otherwise occupied with thoughts of a weekend hunt at the My Little Pony Game Preserve, where she hopes to gun down a trophy that can be used as raw material for a breathtaking season finale wig.
Okay, that was some seriously grim imagery, but still not as stressful as The Voice...

The final six performers did not hold back on last night’s The Voice. It seems like an impossible task to eliminate any of the remaining contestants. Each performer is top notch in his or her respective genre. At this point, it is like comparing donuts to cookies, both are good and it just depends what you are in the mood for.
The performances were all amazing. Trevin Hunte’s rendition of “And I Am Telling You I Am Not Going” was over the top powerful and had the coaches gushing, including the typically reticent to compliment Christina Aguilera who even offered to take Trevin on the road with her. Nicholas David also shined by interpreting “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” in a way that reinvigorated a song that can other times feel stale. Terry McDermott blew the audience away with “I Want To Know What Love Is,...

Double eliminations each week on The Voice means double the heartbreak -- two more singers were sent packing on Tuesday, leaving only four musicians and two coaches to vie for the winning title. Ne-Yo kicked off the live results show with a performance of "Let Me Love You" alongside Amanda Brown of Adam Levine's team, proving her voice translates flawlessly to the pop/dance genre as well. After rocking Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again" and Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" last night, is there anything she can't sing? Even though Cassadee Pope charting on the Billboard Hot 100 seems like a dream-crusher for the other contestants hoping to win Season Three of The Voice, last night's live show proved the other remaining five ain't going out easy. Most notably, Trevin Hunte pulled himself up from the bottom of the pile with a song that, inexplicably, he labeled "a risk": "And I Am Telling You I Am Not Going." If there is any song that is showboat-ier, full of big notes and soulful bluster, who knows what it is.

The Voice's top six contestants had two chances to shine on Monday, when each singer performed a song of their choice and one picked by his or her mentor. And it was a mixed bag of music!
Team Adam
Melanie Martinez didn't stray far from her trademark soft vocals, but took a slight detour from her usually haunting songs with Cee Lo Green's "Crazy" and "The Show" by Lenka.
Christina Aguilera, whose contestants have all left the show, suggested she try more sultry songs. But Green approved: "In many ways we're cut from the same cloth, honey," he told her.

When Amanda Brown took the stage to perform on Monday’s episode of NBC’s The Voice, the crowd took an audible breath.
