Storyline

It's Halloween 1997 - the last night of high school for Corey, Jango and their skater gang, The Gromits. Childhood is over and adult life beckons. But for Corey, his past has some unfinished business. When he encounters Jonah, a former childhood friend but now victimized by Jango's cruel streak, Corey takes pity on him and agrees to walk him home for old time's sake. What starts off as a normal walk through empty suburban streets descends into something darker and magical as they tell each other ghost stories, drawing upon their fears of the world around them. As they walk through their memories and ghosts of the past, Corey is surprised to discover how much he still has in common with his abandoned friend. But on the night of the grave's delight, even the most buried truths will find a way of coming to life. Written by Teaser-Trailer.com

Trivia

Originally the character of Jonah was meant to be linked to Jonah from Verso's short film, The Last Time I Saw Richard (and there were references to events from that film in Boys In The Trees) as they were written at the same time. The making of the short, however, pushed both films into different directions. This, combined with Toby growing up and now being too old to play the character, meant it was necessary to recast. So now the two Jonahs are meant to be viewed as two parallel characters. See more »

Great little film
9 November 2017 | by omendataSee all my reviews

There aren't many films from Australia I haven't liked and this is definitely one of them.

Superb acting from virtually all the cast and well filmed, so well filmed I would never have guessed it was Australia.

I figured out what it was all about quite early on but the story was still fascinatingly surreal and drew you into its mystery and the characters themselves; the angst of youth and the tribulations we all had to go through when we were young and in that way it will probably appeal more to older folks,.

Its not for everyone but if you are looking for horror or lots of action and cgi then its not for you - if you want to have your brain tweaked and your senses stretched then its one for you.
