“Hey girl, you find out who your baby daddy is yet?” may have been an insane way for Danni to answer the phone on the midseason finale of Tyler Perry’s Sistas — but can you really blame her?
It’s been the question on every viewer’s mind since Karen found out she was pregnant, roughly 30 years ago. And despite the various “answers” we’ve gotten since, something told us that Zac being the father of Karen’s twins was too simple to be true. Let’s not forget which show we’re all watching here.

Despite there being far too many firsts still left to achieve, Black creators have indelibly left their mark on the television landscape for decades.
Just think of names like Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Lee Daniels (“Empire”), and Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”), whose series went on to become credited for reviving network television, or writers like Issa Rae (“Insecure”), Donald Glover (“Atlanta”), and Lena Waithe (“The Chi”), who have been able to build their own sort of TV empire with the shows they have written and/or produced.
Even networks like BET, Starz, and MTV still run off of the creative ingenuity of executive producers like Tyler Perry (“Sistas”), Courtney A. Kemp (“Power”), Mona Scott-Young (“Love and Hip Hop”), and even RuPaul (“RuPaul’s Drag Race”).
Often when retelling the story of Black representation on television, there is first acknowledgment of how the writers rooms initially were not reflective of what their casts looked like.

Remember that gloriously over-the-top battle scene in the last Twilight movie where half of the cast suffers brutal deaths… but it all turns out to be a vision? Well, Sistas basically pulled that same trick in Wednesday’s midseason premiere, which opened with Karen shooting Fatima point blank at her place of business… only for Karen to snap out of her daydream moments later. (Come to think of it, I’m starting to see why this episode was titled “Daydreams.”)

The 2023 BET Awards were handed out Sunday night, with Latto, Beyoncé, Coco Jones, Teyana “Spike Tey” Taylor and Burna Boy among the winners announced during the live telecast.
The awards recognize the best performances of the year across music, TV, film and sports. The ceremony also celebrated 50 years of hip-hop throughout the show, which aired on BET from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Winners in only a fraction of the categories were announced during the broadcast. (See the red carpet arrivals.)
The hostless show kicked off with a slew of performers, including opener Lil Uzi Vert as well as hip-hop pioneers The Sugarhill Gang, who performed their seminal “Rapper’s Delight.” It also featured a tribute to the late Biz Markie with his “Just a Friend.” Other memorable moments included tributes to Tupac Shakur and Takeoff (the latter by his Migos bandmates Quavo and Offset) as well as a...

‘Sistas’ Actress Mignon Wants People to Heal or “You’re Just Going to Keep Living in the Same Cycle”
Tyler Perry’s comedy-drama series Sistas follows the lives of a friendship group, whose storylines are conversation-starters in person and online. The sister circle includes Andrea “Andy” Barnes (Kj Smith), Daniella “Danni” King (Mignon), Karen Mott (Ebony Obsidian) and Sabrina Hollins (Novi Brown), who are dealing with relationship issues, career choices and friendship drama that many can relate to.
This season, Danni is fresh out of a breakup with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Preston (Trinity Whiteside), facing her abuser and trying to confirm if one of her best friends is dead. But despite her trauma, one thing viewers can consistently expect Danni to provide is comedic relief. “People don’t always understand the method to her madness because I mean, just quite frankly, it’s kind of a luxury to be vulnerable,” Mignon says of her character. “It’s 100 percent a defense mechanism” from her deep pain.

The Sistas staged an intervention for one of their own on Wednesday’s season finale. (Spoiler alert: It did not go well!)
Danni, or should we say “Daniella,” was ambushed by her fellow Sistas after Sabrina spread word that she was sleeping with the enemy. Concerned with (but “not judgmental” about) their friend’s recent risky behavior, the girls brought Danni back to a traumatic incident in college when a group of guys tried to take advantage of her at a frat party, a horrible experience that had quite a bit of “fallout.”

Amazon Studios has unveiled the first stills from its holiday romantic comedy Something from Tiffany’s, starring Zoey Deutch (Not Okay) and Kendrick Sampson (Insecure), which is poised to launch globally on Prime Video on December 9th.
The Amazon Original, based on Melissa Hill’s novel of the same name, watches as a woman’s life is upended, when an engagement ring meant for someone else leads her to the person she’s meant to be with.
Nothing compares to the magic and excitement of the holidays in New York City, where the streets blaze with lights, windows dazzle, and a special box from Tiffany could change the course of a person’s life. Or several lives. Rachel and Gary (Deutch and Ray Nicholson) are happy enough, but not quite ready for that big commitment. Ethan and Vanessa (Sampson and Shay Mitchell), the perfect picture, are just about to make it official.

With new seasons of The Oval and Sistas on the way, it’s pretty much going to be Tyler Perry’s October on BET and BET Her. And we have no complaints.
It all begins with the return of The Oval on Tuesday, Oct. 11 (9/8c), TVLine has learned exclusively. The political thriller’s fourth season premiere, ominously titled “The Package,” finds Victoria receiving “disturbing news from the White House doctor concerning Jason,” while Donald “learns Grip is not the indestructible man he thought he was.”

Zac and Fatima will be living dramatically ever after on BET+ this fall. Sistas‘ “Zatima”-centric spinoff, appropriately titled Zatima, will hit the streamer on Thursday, Sept. 29.
As previously announced, the 10-episode series will follow Sistas‘ it couple Zac (Devale Ellis) and Fatima (Crystal Renee Hayslett) as they “navigate the ups and downs of their relationship.” And if what we’ve seen on Sistas is any indication, there will be plenty of both.

Score one for “Zatima.”
Wednesday’s episode of Sistas finally reunited the supercouple by freeing Zac, thanks to an eleventh-hour power move by Robin. You know, it’s too bad that Aaron took away Gary’s telescope, because he’ll be missing one heck of a show in Andi’s apartment after all of this.

Do we know exactly what kind of magic Robin worked to make this happen? Absolutely not.

We never could have guessed that the biggest twist on this week’s Sistas would come courtesy of *triple-checks notes* Bayo.
Wednesday’s episode, which we’ll break down more fully in a moment, ended with a couple of lookie-loos sneaking photos of Danni and Sabrina at the supermarket. Naturally, Danni assumed that the grocery gawkers had their eyes on her, but that wasn’t the case.

Zac went to bat for Fatima on Wednesday’s Sistas, though no actual bats were involved this time. Not yet, anyway.
Because Andi agreed not to tell Zac about Fatima’s arrest, she kept quiet when he showed up to their office demanding answers. Hayden, on the other hand, took no such oath — and he couldn’t wait to tell Zac about Fatima being in custody. He even crafted a jaunty little song to hammer the point home. “I locked your bitch up,” he taunted to the tune of “Ring Around the Rosy.” (I said it was jaunty, I never said it was clever.

It must be nice to live in Fatima’s head, a magical fantasy realm where you’re always right and your actions carry absolutely no consequences.
Unfortunately, it’s quite a different situation outside of Fatima’s head (aka the real world), where she remains very much in police custody for playing Home Run Derby at Hayden’s apartment. But rather than showing an ounce of remorse for what she did — which includes throwing out Hayden’s father’s ashes and asking, “You wanna join him?” — she doubled down on Wednesday’s Sistas, telling Andi, “Where I’m from, we handle s–t ourselves.
