Horrible Histories could be heading to success at this year's British Academy Children's Awards after being nominated in three categories.
The programme leads the nominations with nods in the Comedy and Writing categories, while Jessica Ransom is also nominated in the performer category for her turn as Mary, Queen of Scots.
Elsewhere, The Incredible Adventures of Professor Branestawm is nominated in the Comedy category, while star Harry Hill is also a contender.
Meanwhile, Peppa Pig is up for awards in the Preschool: Animation and Writer categories, while Operation Ouch! is in the running for a Factual award.

Microsoft's Kinect sensor may have been designed to control video games, but hackers have found it does much more. The $150 device shoots music videos, creates 3D models and play virtual instruments. Microsoft will embrace the creative community this spring when it releases an official Kinect software development. No longer will a hack be required to make the toy a valuable tool.
The new peripheral that "makes your body the controller" sold well commercially this past holiday season, but a lack of quality games post-release now has consumers wanting. In a surprising twist, YouTube videos by hackers -- usually the enemy of big companies like Ms --- have kept the device in the spotlight.
With an official Sdk, people turned off by the hacker moniker will finally be allowed to exploit Kinect's raw potential for any number of things - and continue to bring both the hardware and it creator positive attention.

Should Space150 and Forever 21 have paid or at least acknowledged a very similar project that debuted a year ago?

Last Friday, we broke news of a new video billboard in Times Square for Forever 21, created by Space150, in which a model appears to pluck certain people from the crowds onscreen. It seemed like a clever, fresh project--and that's where the trouble started.
Chris O'Shea, a leading figure in interactive-installation design, quickly wrote to point out that Space150 project bears striking similarities to something he did last year for the BBC, titled "Hand from Above": [vimeo 7042266]
According to O'Shea, "I’m not by any means suggesting that the creators have seen Hand from Above, but it certainly feels familiar. Maybe inspired by? What do you think?" For comparison, here's the Times Square project...

Interactive billboards take a step forward today in Times Square.
It's a tall feat for an advertiser to stand out in Times Square, which is swathed in giant plasma-screen billboards. But today, a taste of what billboards might become is being unveiled--and the billboard reaches out and grabs the crowd, thanks to technology borrowed from high-tech spy cameras. [vimeo 12855619]
Designed by interactive agency Space150 for Forever 21, the billboard features a model walking in front of an image of the crowd below. And then it gets interesting: The model occasionally leans over, and appears to pluck someone out of the crowd. Sometimes, they stink, so she tosses them. Sometimes she kisses them, and they turn into a frog. And sometimes, she drops them in her bag and happily trots off. At one point, the model takes a Polaroid of the crowd, shakes it out, and brandishes it in front of her--showing off...
