Chris here, showering love an underpraised actress. It's Rosario Dawson's birthday! Dawson is always everywhere and usually when you least expect her - this year alone she's popped up on your TV screens (various Netflix Marvel shows), in animation (The Lego Batman Movie), and some good old schlock (Unforgettable). Those may be more populist fare, but she's always been something of an indie darling ever since her debut in the controversial Kids (1995), effortlessly charming no matter the genre or budget. By now after working with majors like Tarantino and Danny Boyle, you would think she would have some awards love somewhere to go with a tireless career. Nope, not even a Globe nomination for being the best part of Rent. I'd imagine once she lands in a major awards contender, that will quickly change.
Perhaps that omission is due to what a natural, unshowy presence Dawson is onscreen regardless...

This was not the 40th edition of the “Festival of Festivals” that Toronto was hoping for. The 2015 Toronto International Festival began with legal issues forcing the Aretha Franklin concert documentary “Amazing Grace” to cancel its opening night slot and has pretty much ended with the withdraw of the Amber Heard drama “London Fields” after director Matthew Cullen took the film’s producers to court claiming (among other things) that they re-edited the film without his input. Considering how weak the world premieres were overall this year it was par the course for a festival’s whose opening weekend was colder and rainier than in recent memory. Granted, There were certainly a lot of good movies that screened at the fest this year, but almost every single one of them debuted somewhere else. That’s not good for an event that considers itself one of the premier film festivals in the world.

Chris Rock writes, directs and acts in the funny, self-aware and uplifting comedy Top Five co-starring Rosario Dawson.
The actor and comedian takes the lead as Andre Allen, a stand-up comic and recovering alcoholic who's desperate to be taken seriously in the shallow world of Hollywood while becoming submerged within a celebrity-obsessed culture.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Chris reveals he's currently writing a script for his next movie. It's not, as previously reported, a sequel to Top Five, but will have a similar tone and some of the same cast.
Chris talks about Jay Z and Kanye West's involvement as co-producers, and how there's perhaps a "dash of Kardashian" in Gabrielle Union's reality TV star Erica Long. He also responds to Woody Allen comparisons, and tells us who us his top five stand-up comedians of all time are:
How much of your own personal experiences did you carry into Top Five?...

The Chrises of Hollywood - Pratt, Pine, Evans, Hemsworth, and Rock- have been making a name for themselves both on and off screen lately. Pals Chris Evans and Chris Pratt had a memorable Super Bowl bet that led to them wearing their superhero costumes while visiting sick children in hospitals. Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth proved he can rock a mullet and still be one of People's sexist men alive. And who can forget Chris Pine's viral cry at the 2015 Oscars? Finally, Chris Rock has been making headlines for his thought-provoking comments on racism following the December 2014 release of Top Five. It's clear the Chrises are reigning supreme - just look at why it's a good time to be a Chris in Hollywood - but which guy is your favorite? Vote below!

It has been a breakout year for Meek Mill, and in his video for "Ima Boss," the Rick Ross protégé wanted to celebrate all things Philly.
"It felt good, man. That's what I always had dreams to do," Mill told MTV News about making a clip in his hometown. "As a young boy, you wanted to be a rapper, you had dreams of shooting a big video in your 'hood, everybody showing you love. It went exactly as planned."
Before Meek, rappers like State Property's Beanie Sigel, Freeway and Young Chris were the premier torchbearers for the city, and together they all appear in "Ima Boss."

As far as rap crews go, Philadelphia's State Property were emerging as one of hip-hop's most promising collectives until they were torn apart by business tiffs and legal drama.
Signed to Roc-a-Fella Records, State Property and group leader Beanie Sigel lost steam after label co-CEOs Jay-z and Damon Dash parted ways and Beans went on to serve a 10-month stint in prison that ended in 2005. But this past weekend, Sp reunited onstage in Atlantic City, New Jersey, a show that Beanie said brought tears to his eyes.
"The whole State Property was there, everybody: Chris, Neef, Oschino, Sparks, Freeway, Peedi Crack and me, all seven of us. That was love," Sigel said during his visit to "RapFix Live" on Wednesday.

Real Spit: We've known Christopher Ries for a minute now from his time on the Roc, where he inked a deal with Jay-z and Dame Dash as a member of the Young Gunz and State Property. But since Jay and Dame split, the Philadelphia native has been stuck in limbo, releasing a series of mixtapes but toiling on the bench instead of taking the starting spot his talent calls for.
Enter Rico Love. The artist-turned-songwriter/producer (Usher, Beyoncé, Diddy) scored a deal with Universal/Motown to launch his own label, Division 1, and signed Young Chris as his flagship artist.

The aliens from Sony's "District 9" scored big during The Hollywood Reporter's 39th annual Key Art Awards.
Honoring the best in movie marketing, Friday's event at Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles saw "District 9" take home 11 awards, including the best-in-show prize for its integrating marketing campaigning as well as three other best-in-show laurels for its outdoor advertising (built around its "Bus Stop for Humans Bus Shelter"), TV spots and digital campaign.
The awards ceremony culminated with Sylvester Stallone receiving the Visionary Award, given annually to a filmmaker who inspires movie marketers.
"At the end of the day, there is no question that Sylvester Stallone delivers great product," THR publisher Lori Burgess said before calling Stallone to the candlelit stage at what once was the altar of the former St. Vibiana Roman Catholic cathedral, which has been converted to a party space. "He's put his stamp on film like very few people of his generation.

'I'm not really dissing Jay,' Beanie claims after dropping 'What You Talkin Bout (I Ain't Your Average Cat).'

Hip-hop fans' heartbreak: One of the greatest dynasties in rap history, Roc-a-Fella, is having its dirty laundry thrown onto the street by the Broad Street Bully. Beanie Sigel is giving the world a very sobering take on his split from Jay-z in a song called "What You Talkin Bout (I Ain't Your Average Cat)."
"I'm a grown-ass man, I don't sit on n---as' laps/ I ain't looking for no gifts out of Santa Claus' sack," he raps. Sig dropped those same lines during the Powerhouse Concert last Friday in Philadelphia when he came out as Jadakiss' guest. The words were obviously a response to Jay's lines on "What We Talkin' About" off of The Blueprint 3.
Still, fans were confused about Bean's intentions.
