Whoopi Goldberg and the other co-hosts of “The View” could not fathom why Republican representative of Missouri Vicky Hartzler opposes gay marriage so strongly that she broke into tears and called the Respect for Marriage Act “misguided and dangerous.”
On Wednesday’s show, Goldberg said, “I’m not sure why we’re fighting this again … You want to decide who [other people] can marry? Back up. This is America … Not everybody believes what you believe. And if we’re going to celebrate religious freedom, get out of the way of other people’s religious freedom. Not everybody believes that that’s not a right way to go. If you don’t [approve of gay marriage], don’t marry a gay person, Ok? It really is that simple.”
Joy Behar added that Hartzler’s stance is probably why she lost her bid for the Senate in August. “She’s not interested in the fact that between Newt Gingrich...

State Attorney General Eric Schmitt won Missouri’s Republican primary for Senate, besting a roster of rivals that included embattled former Gov. Eric Greitens and Rep. Vicky Hartzler
The hotly contested race to replace retiring Republican Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) in Washington, D.C., unfolded without Donald Trump backing any particular candidate. Instead, the former president on Monday simply endorsed “Eric,” ensuring he could take credit regardless of whether Schmitt or Greitens prevailed.
Schmitt won the race by netting nearly 46 of the votes with over 95 of precincts reported.

Former President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he is endorsing “Eric” in the Missouri Republican Senate primary.
The only problem is that two of the leading candidates to secure the nomination are named Eric. Eric Schmitt, the state’s attorney general, and Eric Greitens, the state’s disgraced former governor in a dead heat with Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.), whom the former president had already said he would not endorse.
