New Delhi, Jan 23 (Ians) Members of the Indian cricket team will assemble in Chennai on January 27 ahead of the first Test against England that begins at the M. Chidambaram Stadium on February 5.
It has been learnt that the players would reach Chennai in batches -- from different cities -- and enter the bio-bubble from January 27. They will undergo a week-long quarantine during which the Indian team management will devise its strategy for the series.
The England team will also enter the bio-bubble from January 27 when they arrive after completing the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka in Galle that ends on January 26.
However, players coming to India from England, like all-rounder Ben Stokes, pace bowler Jofra Archer and opener Rory Burns, will arrive a bit earlier as they will land straight from England. The trio is not part of the England team that is currently touring Sri Lanka for the Tests.

Dubai, Oct 31 (Ians/GloFans) Consecutive wins in their last two matches have given Rajasthan Royals (Rr) hope for qualifying for the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (Ipl) and the Steve Smith-led team will aim to capitalise from the situation when they face a deflated Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) here on Sunday.
Both Rr (bet run rate -0.377) and Kkr (-0.467) have equal 12 points each from 13 games. However, it is Rr's superior net run-rate that gives them an edge. Rr will be looking for a big win to stay ahead in middle of the jam-packed table with every team, except Chennai Super Kings (Csk), still afloat.
Ben Stokes and Sanju Samson rediscovering their form has been the catalyst for Rr in their recent matches while skipper Smith, Robin Uthappa, and Jos Buttler were also handy with the bat in their game against Kings XI Punjab.

Dubai, Oct 22 (Ians/GloFans) Important half-centuries from Manish Pandey (83 not out off 47 balls) and Vijay Shankar (52 not out off 51) helped SunRisers Hyderabad (Srh) register a clinical eight-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals (Rr), and keep their hopes of qualifying for the Indian Premier League (Ipl) playoffs alive.

Dubai, Oct 21 (Ians/GloFans) Rajasthan Royals (Rr) will be looking to keep their playoff hopes alive when they face Sunrisers Hyderabad (Srh) in the 40th match of the Indian Premier League (Ipl) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
The Steve Smith-led Royals are placed sixth in the standings with eight points and still they have a thin chance of making to the next round. Srh, on the other hand, are a place below them on six points and thus have a four-point gap to bridge.
The Rr top-order failed to fire against Chennai Super Kings (Csk). Their ploy of demoting Jos Buttler to number five, however, worked with the England batsman finishing the match unbeaten on 70 and leading the team to victory.
Ben Stokes, Sanju Samson, and Robin Uthappa need to provide a good start while the onus of converting those lies on the shoulders of Buttler and Smith.

Abu Dhabi, Oct 18 (Ians/GloFans) Chennai Super Kings (Csk) and Rajasthan Royals (Rr) have a chance to jump out of the bottom three of the Ipl table when they face each other at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Monday. Both sides are on six points and Csk are one place above Rr on sixth because of their superior net run rate.
Csk's top order of Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu showed they have regained their touch in recent matches, while Ravindra Jadeja was also quite handy with the bat in their last game against the Delhi Capitals (DC).
However, the form of captain Ms Dhoni could be a cause of concern. The veteran wicketkeeper batsman has not been able match up to the lofty standards he has set over the years with the bat this season. With 3,994 runs from 169 games, Dhoni is also the leading run-scorer for his side.

Dubai, Oct 16 (Ians/GloFans) After a dismal outing against Kings XI Punjab (Kxip), the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rcb) will be eager to get back on track when they take on an inconsistent Rajasthan Royals (Rr) in their return fixture of the ongoing Indian Premier League (Ipl) season at the Dubai International Cricket stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Though Rcb remain static at third spot in the standings despite enduring an eight-wicket loss against Kxip on Thursday, Kohli & Co need to tighten their seat belts as the league is now heading towards its business end.
Rcb tinkered with the batting line-up against Punjab and it backfired completely. An in-form Ab de Villiers was demoted to number six while Shivam Dube was promoted up the order. However, the ploy didn't work.

Dubai, Oct 13 (Ians/GloFans) Rajasthan Royals (Rr) will try and avenge the defeat they suffered at the hands of Delhi Capitals (DC) on October 9 when they meet here on Wednesday.
The Steve Smith-led Rr are placed at the sixth place in the standings, and would hope for a spirited show in order to keep their play-offs hopes alive.
On Wednesday, Rr have a bright chance of settling scores against the Shreyas Iyer-led DC as they have their most lethal weapon, Ben Stokes, back in the side.
The England all-rounder, who opened the innings against SunRisers Hyderabad (Srh), would be hungry to deliver after a below-par show on Sunday, which was also his first game of the season.
It will be interesting to see if the Rr think-tank once again asks Stokes to open the innings or send him to bat in the middle-order as his side lacks a genuine finisher or power-hitter there.

Dubai, Oct 10 (Ians/GloFans) The David Warner-led SunRisers Hyderabad (Srh) will aim to keep their good show going when they take on an out-of-form Rajasthan Royals (Rr), who have suffered a string of defeats, in the 26th match of the Ipl here on Sunday.
The 'Orange Army' will aim to replicate their performance of the previous match in which they hammered Kings XI Punjab by 69 runs at the same venue, the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Rr had started the proceedings well but their campaign looks to be getting off the track as the Steve Smith-led side has failed to be consistent. Even their star players are out of form and are unable to fire as they did during the early days of the 2020 season.
Rr, however, would be a bit relieved with the coming back of one of their most experienced all-rounder Ben Stokes, who has now completed...

DC are happily sitting at the second spot on the table with eight points from five matches while Rr are seventh in the eight-team competition with four points from five matches.
So far, DC have clicked all the boxes, with both their batsmen and bowlers living up to the expectations. The main reason behind DC's success is that they have been making collective efforts.
Opener Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, captain Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Marcus Stoinis have been contributing with the bat.
In their last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Stoinis came down the order and made a 26-ball unbeaten 53 to propel his side to a decent total.

Dubai, Sep 30 (Ians) A clinical Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) on Wednesday coasted to a 37-run win over Rajasthan Royals (Rr) here. After scoring 174/6 wkts in 20 overs, Kkr restricted Rr to 137/9 in 20 overs, with top scorer Tom Curran (54 not out off 36 balls) being one of just three Rr batsmen to enter double figures.
Pat Cummins struck early with the big wicket of his Australian team mate Steve Smith in the second over of the Rr innings. The in-form Sanju Samson was dismissed by Shivam Mavi in the fifth over which meant that Rr had lost both their highest scoring batsmen thus far this season within the powerplay.
Jos Buttler scored a quickfire 21 off 16 and threatened to get back to the form he displayed last season, before falling to the very first ball of the seventh over bowled by Mavi.
It was all downhill for Rr after that as they failed to get partnerships going.

Dubai, Sep 30 (Ians) Opener Shubman Gill's 47 and Eoin Morgan's unbeaten 34 helped the Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) score 174/6 against Rajasthan Royals (Rr) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. For Rr, Jofra Acher marked his return to form with the ball as he bagged 2/18.
Sunil Narine's dry spell with the bat continued as he was dismissed for 15 runs in the fifth over. His opening partner Gill, however, ancored the innings throughout its first half before finally falling in the 12th over to Archer, three runs short of a second consecutive half century.
Explosive all-rounder Andre Russell was threatening to finally show his full array of shots this season, reaching 24 runs in 14 balls. His innings was punctuated by three sixes but it was cut short by Ankit Rajpoot who got him holed out at deep midwicket. Morgan then anchored the lower middle order and saw Kkr through to 174 for six in 20 overs.

Dubai, Sep 29 (Ians/GloFans) In-form Rajasthan Royals (Rr) will aim for a hat-trick of wins when they square-off against two-time Ipl winners Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) at the Dubai International Cricket stadium here on Wednesday evening.
After defeating Chennai Super Kings (Csk) in their campaign opener, the Steve Smith-led Rr overhauled the highest tournament total of 224 against Kings XI Punjab (Kxip) in their previous match. They are high on confidence as they take another step towards qualifying for the playoffs, though that is a bit far at the moment.
Rr opener Sanju Samson and skipper Smith smashed half-centuries in the game against Kxip. However, with the match slipping away from their hands, Haryana all-rounder Rahul Tewatia's blitzkrieg bought them back in the contest. Once again, all eyes will be on Samson, who has two half-centuries from as many games, and Tewatia, who smashed 53 off 31 balls against Kings XI Punjab.

Sharjah, Sep 27 (Ians) A maiden century from Mayank Agarwal and his epic 183-run opening stand with captain Kl Rahul helped Kings XI Punjab score 223/2 batting first against Rajasthan Royals at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Mayank scored 106 from 50 balls, his innings punctuated by as many seven sixes and 10 fours. Rahul, on the other hand, scored 69 off 54, smashing seven fours and one six.
The partnership that the pair shared is the highest opening stand ever for Kxip and the second highest overall for the team, behind the mammoth 206 put up by Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh for the second wicket against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011.
It is also the third highest opening partnership of all time in the Ipl.
The stand was broken when Mayank holed out at deep midwicket off Tom Curran in the 17th over. Rahul went in the next over, falling to Ankit Rajpoot.

Sharjah, Sep 26 (Ians/GloFans) The K.L. Rahul-led Kings XI Punjab (Kxip) began their Ipl campaign on a losing note but they bounced back in grand style by outshining Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rcb) in their second outing. On Sunday, they will be up against a confident Rajasthan Royals (Rr), who are now evenly poised with the return of Jos Buttler along with mentor Shane Warne.
In their last game, Rahul single-handedly blew the Virat Kohli-led Rcb away with his unbeaten 132. Later, the Punjab bowlers also rose to the occasion and bundled out Rcb for a paltry 109, setting up a massive 97-run win.
The Kxip team management will hope its players to replicate the show against Rr. However, the only headache for Kxip will be the silence of Glenn Maxwell and Nicholas Pooran in the middle-order and the team management would likely try to make some minor changes here.
