The Fallout series, based on the post-apocalyptic game franchise, is making fans fascinated with the fresh concept they brought on-screen. Without adapting the games’ characters and stories, the show has successfully inculcated the Fallout universe events in the show. With the show renewed for another season, fans are excited about what more would the show be serving next.

"Fallout," Prime Video's stellar adaptation of the popular video game, is proving a hit with critics and fans since its April 10 debut. The fact the show has managed to faithfully recreate the expansive world of the video games on which it's based is impressive enough. But "Fallout" is also noteworthy for debuting original characters that fit effortlessly into the universe first established back in 1997, when the first game arrived. Among those characters, Walton Goggins' The Ghoul might be the series' most compelling.
In his 2016 review of HBO's "Vice Principals," The New York Times' Mike Hale wrote that Goggins "makes a habit of being the best thing about the television shows he's in." That arguably hasn't changed since, with the "Righteous Gemstones" star delivering an effortlessly charismatic turn as the irradiated bounty hunter in "Fallout." From the very beginning, Goggins' mutated gunslinger exudes an alluring magnetism, which, considering the actor was covered in extensive prosthetics,...

It has been quite a while since video game franchises broke free of the curse of live-action adaptations, and Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout franchise is the latest one to find success in that regard. With the recently released TV series adaptation produced by Amazon Studios, Fallout has managed to create a separate narrative posited further into the lore’s future timeline, thereby expanding the established narrative.
The mastermind behind much-loved long-running game series like Fallout and Elder Scrolls of Bethesda, Todd Howard, had been involved in the creative brainstorming behind the live-action series. The decision to take a separate route from the original saga by creating a new storyline was his idea as well. The implementation of the idea was successful, as the core themes of Fallout are captured perfectly through a seamless tie-in of multiple subplots and a central plotline. As the first season of Fallout neared its end, the...

Through the ages, men in power have found excuses to wage wars to serve their selfish motives, be it for religion, territorial gain, nationalism, or economic gain. While the objectives vary according to the geopolitical situation, the principles of war remain unchanged, as the underprivileged are always the sufferers while the dominant sect reaps the benefits—a basic, universal truth that makes up the core of Bethesda’s acclaimed game franchise Fallout. While the video game series isn’t the first to have attempted to showcase an alternate, dystopian post-nuclear holocaust reality, it certainly added a unique flair through a scathing satirical tone directed towards American consumerism, holding capitalism accountable for a doomed future in the most brutal, humorous fashion imaginable.

The big and small screens are stuffed full of post-apocalyptic adventures, yet despite that cluttered landscape, few shows and films stick out to offer something unique for viewers. However, in “Fallout” for Prime Video, a thrilling adaptation of the beloved video game series, creators Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner present an off-kilter and fascinating look at humanity in the 23rd century.
“Fallout” begins at the end. The eight-episode series opens in picturesque America sometime in the future. It has reverted to the texture of a glossier post-racial 1955. Cooper Howard (Walton Goggins), an actor known for starring in Westerns, is the entertainment at a children’s party for an affluent family. As he packs his belongings, his young daughter Janey (Teagan Meredith) points outward toward the Los Angeles skyline just as a nuclear bomb explodes on the horizon. The bombing marks the end of the world we are accustomed to, but...

“When you first come to Palm Beach, you think you’re the oldest and the richest. But then you realize you are the youngest and poorest.”
Everybody has goals. For new resident Maxine Simmons (Kristen Wiig), hers is to enter the world of Palm Beach high society circa 1969. She dreams of joining the Palm Royale, the most exclusive country club in the area. It’s the sort of exclusive place filled with swimming pools, galas and daytime martinis that feeds into the competitive charity season. It’s the time of year where the wealthy women in the area show off their wallets and organizational skills to vie for the coveted title of “Queen of the Season.”
All this just to be mentioned in the local society papers. After all, “At the Palm Royale, the more you gave, the more you got.”

On tour with her daughter after her cancer diagnosis the Scottish national treasure opens up about her life and finds big laughs in the face of death
Here’s a documentary following the Glaswegian standup comic Janey Godley on her Not Dead Yet Tour; in 2022, Godley was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer, and she does the first gig in Inverness a day after chemotherapy. And God, is she funny, with jokes running the gamut from the disgraced peer Michelle Mone living in a static caravan to cancer. Her daughter, Ashley Storrie, also hilarious, does the warm up.
The title of the film is just Janey; no surname necessary – not in Scotland anyway, where Godley has a special place in people’s hearts. During Covid her voiceovers of first minister Nicola Sturgeon’s press conferences went viral (I remember watching one feeling almost guilty for laughing so hard). Before that, in...

[The following interview contains spoilers for Servant, Too Old to Die Young and Game of Thrones.]
M. Night Shyamalan‘s Servant has flirted with the supernatural for two and a half seasons as Nell Tiger Free‘s Leanne Grayson appears to have an unexplained yet evolving power. Free’s titular character has seemingly brought Dorothy (Lauren Ambrose) and Sean Turner’s (Toby Kebbell) deceased baby, Jericho, back to life, and she’s even revived Dorothy’s brother, Julian (Rupert Grint), after a fatal overdose. But despite Leanne’s apparent miracles, the Turners mostly downplay their mysterious nanny’s continued warnings regarding the danger they all face from her former cult. But unlike her character, Free understands the Turner family’s hesitance to listen to Leanne’s fears.
“People are so skeptical, aren’t they?” Free tells The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s less about believing in Leanne’s judgment and more about accepting that the supernatural is among you.
