“It has been a great honour and privilege for me to represent my country at the highest level. Deciding on when to call it a day is always tough, but, after contemplating deeply, I realised that this is the right time for me to retire from Test cricket.
There are many people who I am grateful to in this strenuous, yet beautiful journey.

Lahore, Nov 14 (Ians) Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq feels that if the Babar Azam-led side would have got a score between 160-170 in the Men’s T20 World Cup final against England at the McG, it would have been a fighting total.
He also rued that Pakistan didn’t get sizeable amount of runs from the death overs phase, though he was appreciative of the fight shown by the bowlers with the ball.
After being pushed into batting first, Pakistan lost Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Haris cheaply. Though Shadab Khan and Shan Masood were resurrecting the innings, Pakistan never got to break free as England bowled amazingly to keep them in check.
In the last five overs, Pakistan could only make 31 runs as the batters perished in search for the big hits and ended up at a below-par 137/8 in their 20 overs, which was chased down by England in 19 overs.

Melbourne, Oct 24 (Ians) At one stage in India’s innings, Virat Kohli was on 15 off 23 balls, and chasing 160 against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup at Melbourne Cricket Ground (McG) was looking improbable with every minute.
Kohli would then change gears in astonishing fashion, smacking 67 runs off his next 30 deliveries, including 36 runs off his last 11 balls, to finish on an unbeaten 82 off 53 balls, giving India an incredible four-wicket win.
Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq was in awe of Kohli’s unbeaten knock, saying that the right-handed batter has his own class with an awe-inspiring ability to win matches single-handedly, especially when under pressure.
“All credit for the (victory of) Indian team should be given to Virat Kohli. The way he played was fantastic. Virat is only this type of player and it’s not like that he did something which he has not done or can’t do. He played well...

Lahore, Sep 11 (Ians) Pakistan great Inzamam-ul Haq has asked the team’s captain Babar Azam and batsman Fakhar Zaman to score more runs as they gear up for the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka.
Inzamam has recommended both the batters score more runs in the field rather than staying on the pitch for a longer time.
Though Pakistan has reached the final, there are concerns about the team’s performance on the batting front with skipper Babar managing only 30 runs in the event.
Inzamam, Pakistan’s former captain and chief selector, said he hopes the team wins in the Asia Cup 2022 finale against Sri Lanka.
“Pakistan’s fight against Sri Lanka wasn’t visible in the Super 4 match between the two sides, but today we will celebrate the victory of the Men in Green inshallah,” the former cricketer during a discussion on a local television channel.

Lahore, March 10 (Ians) Pakistan captain Babar Azam should be compared to a former batsman from the same country instead of his India counterpart Virat Kohli, said former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq. Razzaq said that Pakistan "has more talent" and if Indians are not comparing players from their country to those in Pakistan, the latter shouldn't reciprocate.
"Firstly, we should not say such a thing (compare Virat Kohli with Babar Azam). You can't compare Indian players with Pakistan players because Pakistan has more talent. If you look at our history, we have so many great players who we can draw comparisons with like Mohammad Yousuf, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar, Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas and Ijaz Ahmed," Razzaq said during an interview with Cricket Pakistan.

Chennai, Feb 5 (Ians) England skipper Joe Root on Friday became the ninth batsman to slam a century in his 100th Test, on Day One of the first Test against India here at the Ma Chidambaram Stadium. It was the 10th instance of this feat occurring as former Australia captain Ricky Ponting is the only batsman to score centuries in both innings of his 100th Test, against South Africa in 2006.
Root brought up his 20th century off 164 balls, with the help of 12 boundaries. This was his third century in as many Tests, with earlier two coming in Sri Lanka in the previous series that England won 2-0, just before the team reached India for this series.
Root also became only the third cricketer to play both his first and 100th Test match in the same country he was touring. Root had made his debut in Nagpur in 2012 when England won the...

Lahore, Dec 25 (Ians) Inzamam-ul-haq feels the sudden retirement of Mohammad Amir will have a negative impact on Pakistan cricket, adding that it was "unfortunate" that the left-arm pacer bid adieu to the sport as he was "unhappy with one person".
Amir, who played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is in which he scalped a total of 259 wickets, recently announced his retirement from international cricket after reservations with Pakistan team management.
"Amir is a good player and his absence has affected the side. But we have other bowlers as well, who are doing well. Such incidents should not take place in Pakistan cricket and this is more important for me as compared to how it affects our bowling strength. A player should not leave cricket in such a manner, after having served Pakistan cricket, as it doesn't look good," Inzamam was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

New Delhi, Nov 27 (Ians) Kookaburra brand ball, which will be used during India's all-format series against hosts Australia, starting Friday, will play a major factor, said former India spinners Harbhajan Singh and Kartik Murali on Thursday.
India will play 10 matches, including three One-day Internationals that start on Friday in Sydney, three T20s and four Tests, against Australia.
"Kookaburra ball is a big factor. When I first picked it, I felt as if I was holding a stone. It was very hard and had a less pronounced seam. I was just clueless how to bowl with it. Then with experience, I started holding the Kookaburras slightly tighter than I would hold an Sg [Sanspareils Greenlands] ball. This would give me better control while bowling," said off-spinner Harbhajan.
