“Siren” has been canceled at Freeform after three seasons, Variety has confirmed.
The news comes about two months after the Season 3 finale, which aired at the end of May. The series starred Eline Powell as Ryn Fisher, a mysterious young woman (who happens to be a mermaid) who came ashore looking for her sister, who had been accidentally captured by a fisherman.
The series also starred Rena Owen, Alex Roe, Fola Evans-Akingbola and Ian Verdun. It wascreated by Eric Wald and Dean White. The series was executive produced by Emily Whitesell and Wald, with Whitesell serving as showrunner.
The show proved to a hit ratings draw in its first season, with episodes routinely drawing around 1.5 million viewers in delayed viewing. The show was also the most-watched Freeform original in its second season. And even with a ratings dropoff in Season 3, it remained one of the top shows on the network.

Are you ready for more blood - er, mermaids? Popsugar can exclusively announce that Siren is returning to Freeform for season two come January 2019. The series captivated viewers this March with its unstereotypical take on the usually fantastical mermaid. In Bristol Cove, mermaids are less friendly sea creatures hoping a prince scoops them up and more aligned with a murderous shark, à la Jaws.
Season two will include 16 episodes, and executive producers Emily Whitesell and Eric Wald revealed at San Diego Comic-Con that fans can expect more mermaids to wash ashore next season. Ryn will get some killer friends, it seems. But when does the show actually return? Freeform hasn't shared a hard premiere date just yet, but we do know we can prepare for a drama-filled Winter. In the meantime, get reacquainted with the cast and catch up on all episodes from season one.

Facing life-and-death circumstances, Siren mermaid Ryn turns to a surprising source for help in TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek from Thursday’s season finale (Freeform, 8/7c).
As seen in the video above, “Donna’s life hangs in the balance,” so “Ryn is now forced to trust Aldon Decker to help save her, even though he was responsible for her devastating abuse in the military lab,” creator Eric Wald previews.
Wald also warns that “the tragic events of our season finale will force Ryn to question her place in the world, both on land and in the water, and her relationship with Ben and Maddie.
