Tony Goldwyn is a true-blue network guy.
Taking over the prosecutor’s office for “Law & Order” in Season 23, the steely actor is set to debut District Attorney Nicholas Baxter on the revived legal drama Thursday, March 14 at 8 p.m. Et. The character introduction comes just two weeks after Sam Waterston stepped down as the legendary Jack McCoy. For his final appearance at NBC in Episode 4 “The Last Dance,” the iconic Da sacrificed his reelection campaign to fight corruption in the mayor’s office. Leaving his post after 30 years, McCoy assured his colleagues that the next Da would be an even stronger legal mind.
Replacing Waterston won’t be easy. The 83-year-old’s retirement from the series created a major vacancy in TV’s most famous police procedural. And that’s a genre already difficult to keep compelling in an increasingly divided America. “Law & Order” is still doing well in the ratings,...

Derek Haas is redefining the word “multi-task.” The executive producer and co-creator of “Chicago Fire” began showrunning his second show last year with the launch of “FBI: International,” the first Dick Wolf series shot entirely out of the country.
During a phone interview with Variety, Haas — currently on set in Budapest — explains that he’s been on location four times since the show began production.
“We travel around a lot. We’ve shot in the Swiss Alps, Paris, Prague. So we can usually send a crew for a couple of days, and we strategically write it so that maybe just a limited amount of our cast is in those locations at any one time,” the executive producer explains. “It’s really easy here. It’s not like in the United States where you’ve got to go find another crew. Instead, we can just branch out for a day or two.

Music streams only offer monetary value for artists when the royalty checks are cashed — often weeks late. Create Music Group (Cmg) wants to change this. On Tuesday, the fast growing music distributor, publisher and marketer announced a beta program for Create Carbon, a credit card directly tied to its artists’ royalty revenue so that musicians can spend their earnings as soon as they get them. Cmg has rolled out the beta for 100 of its artists and hopes to bring further waves of clients onto the program in the coming months.

Earlier this year, Leanne Bailey spent an entire day making 100 cookies for a birthday party. She was paid $300 for her efforts.
Later that week, she went on the app TikTok, which allows users to make 15-second videos set to music, and created a pair of cookie-decorating posts under the name TheBaileyBakery. She netted $1,000. “She’s a 40-plus-year-old lady from Kentucky, she has four kids, and TikTok videos are helping to financially support her,” says Devain Doolaramani, an intern at Arista Records who also manages Bailey — along with over 20 TikTok users...

Greenlit means a project is officially a go, so all you have to do is follow these leads to stay up to date. You never know where you’ll find an opportunity to land an audition! “Law & Order: Hate Crimes”There will be a little bit more law and order this coming year. NBC is once again expanding its “Law & Order” universe with a 13-episode order of “Law & Order: Hate Crimes,” from creator and executive producer Dick Wolf. This will be the seventh “Law & Order” series in total, including the still-running “Svu,” “Criminal Intent,” and its latest anthology, “True Crime.” If Wolf continues his usual trend, casting director Jonathan Strauss will also be casting this series, likely out of New York City. “Veronica Mars”The rumors were true: “Veronica Mars” will be getting a mini-series at Hulu. Cfb Casting is attached for the second revival, with Kristen Bell reprising the role as the titular sleuth.

David Krumholtz makes an appearance on tonight’s new episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as a scientist who is accused of poisoning a woman with mushrooms (it makes more sense in the episode, trust me).
Despite his shows Numb3rs having recently been cancelled, Krumholtz told TV Guide that he was eager to get back to work:
The guest role marks the 32-year-old’s return to television since the cancellation of Numb3rs.”There is a grief associated with the end of any series,” he says. “It was very important that I jump back into something that gave me that feeling and passion, and reignited the flames for me again. And this role afforded me that opportunity.”
Of his character on tonight’s Svu episode, Krumholtz says:
“It’s certainly one of the more intense roles I’ve played in quite some time,” he says about the character, who he calls a rabble-rousing firebrand.

I found a wonderful status on Facebook recently:"Christopher ******** Today - Auditioning for a role on 'Law & Order: Svu' & auditioning with CD Jamie Schulman (Jen Euston Casting) & CD Jessica Kelly (Chrystie Street Casting) Thursday - auditioning with Agent Holly Vegter (Hartig-Hilepo Agency)"One day later it was followed by an updated status:"Christopher ******** got a callback for 'L&O:svu'! Just finished auditioning with CD Jonathan Strauss who loved my work. He wants me to go back today @ 4:15 to audition with the Director of this episode of 'L&O:svu.' Then I will be meeting & auditioning with CD's Jessica Kelly (Chrystie Street Casting) & Jamie Schulman (Jen Euston Casting)." Finally! An actor, among the thousands who have befriended me as a "networking receptacle" using their Facebook status for something other than telling me:– My cat is in heat and so am I. – I hate life and people. You should too! – I...

The following is a list of the top 25 Power Casting Directors in film and television (including Casting Director of the Year, Debra Zane; see page 9). We began with more than 100 candidates. In some cases, collaborations were so closely tied that we considered multiple people as one entity. Several drafts later, all 25 spots were cast.Notably omitted from the list are in-house casting executives at studios and networks, the inclusion of whom would have ballooned our list to 50 or more. But read about them online at www.backstage.com/spotlight. Focusing on independent casting directors leveled the playing field and highlighted people whose puissance is not affected by one scale-tipping affiliation. Now, on to the top 25!Kerry BardenCan you imagine Monster's Ball starring Erykah Badu, or American Psycho starring Leonardo DiCaprio? Kerry Barden can, because he saw them read the parts. "There are so many great actors that sometimes it's a...
