The History Channel announced on Saturday a one-hour documentary featuring NBA star, author, activist and contributor to The Hollywood Reporter, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Titled Black Patriots, the documentary will paint "a comprehensive picture of the African American experience during the Revolutionary War." NBA legend and activist Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is teaming up with History on a documentary on the African American experience during the Revolutionary War.
Titled “Black Patriots,” the doc tells the story of some of the most significant Black figures from the time period including Crispus Attucks, Peter Salem, Phillis Wheatley and James Armistead Lafayette. History unveiled the doc during its Television Critics’ Association winter press tour day and also set the premiere date of Wednesday, Feb. 19.
“Since retiring from the NBA, I’ve been writing books and articles to bring awareness to the public of the many overlooked African-Americans in history who have contributed so much to American society. ‘Black Patriots’ chronicles the surprising, crucial, and often ignored role the black people played in the creation of our country,” said Abdul-Jabbar. “Here’s something we never learned in school: George Washington said that African-Americans were pivotal to winning the Revolutionary War.

NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has teamed with History on Black Patriots, a one-hour documentary chronicling the role of African Americans during the Revolutionary War. It’s set to premiere Wednesday, February 19 at 10 Pm on History. It was announced today as part of History’s presentation at the TCA Winter Press Tour.

A festive Call the Midwife album has been announced by the BBC.
Call the Midwife - The Christmas Album will contain music from the BBC One drama's 2012 and upcoming 2013 Christmas specials, and will be released on November 25.
Including 30 tracks, the collection will feature a special recording of 'When I Fall in Love', made famous by Nat King Cole.
Laura Main (Sister Bernadette) and Stephen McGann (Dr Turner) have recorded a version of the classic song, while orchestral score highlights from composer Peter Salem will also feature.
Many other Christmas classics will appear on the CD and digital compilation, including Bing Crosby's 'White Christmas', Harry Belafonte's 'Mary's Boy Child' and Nat King Cole's 'The Christmas Song'.

Himan Brown worked the radio industry from the late 1920s, and went on to produce such radio and television series as Inner Sanctum, Lights Out, and CBS Radio Mystery Theater.
Brown was born on July 21, 1910, the son of Russian immigrants from the Ukraine. He began working in radio in the late 1920s, reading newspapers for a New York station. He continued to work as a radio actor while beginning to produce programs. Brown oversaw over 30,000 radio programs during his eight-decade career, including The Adventures of the Thin Man, Inner Sanctum, The Affairs of Peter Salem, Bulldog Drummond, Dick Tracy, Flash Gordon, The Private Files of Rex Saunders, Terry and the Pirates, and Barrie Craig, Confidential Investigator. He also directed episodes of many of the shows he produced. He moved into television in the late 1940s, producing the syndicated series Lights Out, Inner Sanctum, and The Chevy Mystery Show.
