“True Blood” actor Stephen Moyer has signed up for Priest, according to Variety. However the actor will not be donning prosthetic fangs for one - as he has been cast as leading man Paul Bettany’s on screen brother. The film also stars Cam Gigandet, Karl Urban and Maggie Q.
Priest is based on a TokyoPop comic book is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires and follows a warrior priest (Bettany) who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.
Also joining the supernatural ranks is “90210″ actress Lily Collins as the niece who’s the cause of all these shenanigans. Priest is written by Cory Goodman and directed by Scott Stewart. Michael De Luca, Josh Donen and Mitchell Peck are producing the picture, which began principal photography yesterday!

You’d think, what with starring in True Blood, that Stephen Moyer would have had it up to the proverbial here with vampires. Yet the British actor has become the latest actor to sign on to the vampire western, Priest, in which Paul Bettany plays a badass clergyman hunting down a group of fanged fiends who have kidnapped his niece.Moyer, who plays the bloodsucking Bill on the acclaimed HBO show, might have been attracted to Priest by virtue of the fact that he won’t have to strap on a pair of fangs. Instead, he’ll play Bettany’s human brother.Filming on the Scott Stewart-directed movie begins today in Los Angeles, and Moyer isn’t the only bit of last-minute casting. 90210 star, Lily Collins, has signed on to play the Searchers-style niece, completing a fine ensemble that also includes Maggie Q, Cam Gigandet and Karl Urban, who...

Steve Rash has signed on to direct "Crooked Arrows," an underdog sports comedy set in the world of lacrosse.
Mitchell Peck and Adam Leff, who co-wrote and exec produced "Bio-Dome," are producing with J. Todd Harris ("Bottle Shock"). The trio are fans of the sport and, in the words of Peck, aim to make "the first mainstream lacrosse movie out of Hollywood."
They are finalizing financing and sponsorships for a late-summer shoot in the Northeast. They have already lined up endorsements from Major League Lacrosse, the National Lacrosse League, Us Lacrosse and LaxFestUSA. The producers also are talking to sports brands, colleges and prep schools.
The sport's origins date back to northeastern American Indian tribes in the 1100s, and "Arrows" will have a Native American angle, with the story set on an upstate New York reservation.
The film centers on a 30-year-old of mixed blood who must postpone his casino-building...

Scott Charles Stewart has signed to direct "Priest," a horror Western that Michael De Luca and Stars Road Entertainment's Josh Donen are producing for Screen Gems. Mitchell Peck will also produce.
An adaptation of a TokyoPop comic book, the story is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece. Cory Goodman ("The Brood") wrote the screenplay.
The boarding of Stewart blesses "Priest" with new life; the project almost came together a couple of years ago with Gerard Butler and Steven Strait under the direction of Andrew Douglas but fell apart.
Stewart, repped by Endeavor and Anonymous Content, is a former Ilm staffer who, along with Stu Maschwitz and Jonathan Rothbart, co-founded special effects house the Orphanage. "Priest" sees him back under Screen Gems' wings,...
