Elle Magazine recently sat down with Chris Evans and discussed a number of topics. From politics, sports, and dating, the interview covered the gamut of information you would expect. (It also includes a shirtless photo of Mr. Evans with whip cream on his chest. Sometimes there's not enough a person can do to forget an image.) One tidbit of information the interview gave was his comments on a potential Black Widow movie.
"That's a good question. It would really just clean up, wouldn't it? Scarlett [Johansson] is so good at everything she does. She's played such a crucial part in the other films. She always makes her presence so felt—even when there are 50 different superheroes running around onscreen. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens at some point in the future. I'm sure Scarlett would be open to it."
For my money, the fact we haven't seen a Black Widow...

The first reaction anyone should have to this story is "obviously." Obviously Joss Whedon would be up to direct a female superhero story. He's done it before. But if he had to choose between the Marvel Jessica Jones type and the DC Supergirl type, which would he pick? The Wrap spoke to Whedon as he was being honored at a HeForShe Media Summit in Los Angeles recently. He's taken a step back from large-scale productions like Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron and is working on something for himself. However, Whedon was limited in what he was willing to say about its premise. “It is a story about a girl who goes through some unbelievable sh-t,” he told The Wrap. “It is an original screenplay that is very different from everything I’ve ever done except for that it’s exactly the same." That sounds like the Whedon we know and love.

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including Grimm, Quantico, The Voice and The Big Bang Theory!
1 | Were you surprised to see that Transparent‘s Josh and Raquel had gotten back together? And how much time are we to believe has passed since Season 1?
2 | Hasn’t Grimm featured far grosser Wesen than the kind of beast Xavier is? So why does the gang seem so horrified by his looks?
3 | How will The Good Wife‘s Alicia spin out from Eli’s deleted voicemail confession?...

In 2016 the two comic book giants cross swords like never before. But who - Marvel or DC - will claim the ultimate victory?
Throughout the decades, the battle for comic book supremacy has swung back and forth between Marvel and DC, the two publishing giants that have dominated the medium’s market since its Silver Age heyday back in the mid-50s. Whilst the perennial war of attrition between the big two has sometimes seen one company on the ropes (such as the time during 80s when Warner Bros. reportedly came close to selling DC to Marvel, or even in the 90s when an ailing Marvel declared bankruptcy), for the most part the two comic book behemoths have existed on a relatively equal footing.
However, the same cannot be said about the duo’s cinematic and television endeavours.
Whilst DC are certainly finding success on the smaller screen,...

Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter had some qualms about the box office performance of “female movies” in an email exchange with Sony boss Michael Lynton. In the leaked Wikileaks correspondence from Aug. 7, 2014, Perlmutter lists “Elektra,” “Catwoman” and the 1984 film version of “Supergirl” as examples of female-led superhero movies that didn’t do well financially, linking to each of the films’ box office results on BoxOfficeMojo.com. “Very bad idea and the end result was very, very bad,” he said of “Elektra,” the Marvel movie starring Jennifer Garner, which was a spinoff of the Ben Affleck-led “Daredevil” feature film. Well, this isn't great. Indiewire's "Women and Hollywood" blog went digging in WikiLeaks' searchable treasure trove of leaked Sony emails and found a message that appears to be from Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter, sent to Sony exec Michael Lynton. It was sent last August and bears the ominous and blunt subject line "Female Movies." We don't know the context, as it seems to be a follow-up from a phone call, but here's the email in full:Michael, As we discussed on the phone, below are just a few examples. There are more. Thanks, Ike 1. Electra (Marvel) – Very bad idea and the end result was very, very bad. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=elektra.htm 2. Catwoman (WB/DC) - Catwoman was one of the most important female character within the Batmanfranchise. This film was a disaster. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=catwoman.htm 3. Chicago – There are few civil rights events shrouded in mystery like the Stonewall Inn Riots – a June night in 1969 in New York City, when gay liberation was born. Witnesses and participants in the riots have grown exponentially over the years (“I was there.”) and the who, what and how the riots began have also been in dispute as time goes by. All of that perspective is realized in Ike Holter’s incendiary stage play “Hit the Wall,” presented by the Chicago Commercial Collective at the Greenhouse Theater in Chicago.
Play Rating: 3.5/5.0
“Hit the Wall” began its life at Steppenwolf Theatre’s Garage Rep in 2012, and had a successful run Off Broadway in New York City last year. A majority of the original cast is back for this revival, as director Eric Hoff takes Holter’s plsy and builds stage craft that feels like the revolution that began on June 28th,...

Half of the brilliant duo that transformed 1950s pop music
With his older brother Don, Phil Everly, who has died of pulmonary disease aged 74, formed one of pop music's greatest vocal partnerships. If it was Elvis Presley who became the most spectacular icon of 1950s rock'n'roll, the Everly Brothers created a musical legacy which was every bit as influential. Their unique vocal harmonies, coupled with ingenious guitar arrangements and timeless material, had a revolutionary impact on the Beatles, the Hollies, Simon & Garfunkel, the Beach Boys, the Byrds and Crosby Stills & Nash.
The Everly Brothers' breakthrough hit was Bye Bye Love (1957), still regarded as one of their most impressive creations. Up to that point, Don and Phil had been chipping away at the country music scene in Nashville, Tennessee, with limited success. Bye Bye Love topped the country charts, but more significantly soared to No 2 on the pop charts, just...
