"How do you get rats off an island?" From Skyfall's Silva to Harry Lime, we took at the menacing little stories told by 20 screen villains.
Occasionally, a movie villain will pause for a moment to deliver a brief story or anecdote. And often, these apparently incidental tales tell us a lot about an antagonist's state of mind, experiences or warped worldview.
We've compiled a selection of 20 here. Some of them are blackly funny. Many are disturbing. One or two are even moving. The first one's very strange. All of them bring something unique to each particular film in which they appear, and all of them are laced with a delicious hint of menace.
20. Xander - Enemies Closer (2013)
"When I was a little boy at my grandmama's place, she had a lovely goose. I named her Edith, after the French singer Edith Piaf..."
We begin with a delightfully weird story from Peter Hyams' 2013 thriller,...

One of the last year's highest-grossing films, "Skyfall," electrified the James Bond franchise with an ass-kicking performance by Daniel Craig that made us all go, "Pierce who?" (Jk, luv u, Brosnan!)
Screen Junkies has tackled the caper, enlisting it as the newest focus of their hilarious franchise, "Honest Trailers." And a slew of important questions arise.
Why didn't that train stop?
Did Adele know when Bond "died"?
Does Judi Dench ever smile?
Did Bond and Raoul hook up?
Were Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern behind this all somehow? Because, seriously, this is straight-up "Home Alone" business right here.
So many questions, so few answers. But, really, who cares? The movie's great, even if only just because "Quantam of Solace" was just fine.

Forgive me, but I have no idea why people are claiming Skyfall is one of the top Bond films ever. Is it the shadowiness people like? The fact that ,strong>Judi Dench acted as "bond girl"?
What I saw was a fine, but unadventurous romp where Bond basically declared, "I know how I'll beat this bad guy -- taking him back to my dad's house!" before he launched into a Home Alone-like attack on dumb foot soldiers and their flitty leader (Javier Bardem). Oh well. The important thing is we have this fan-made homoerotic poster to discuss.
First of all, the idea of James Bond approaching Raoul Silva and blowing smoke rings in his face is so... awesomely anti-d.A.R.E. It's so high school bad boy. So classic and naughty and kinda funny that way.
But secondly, this poster draws attention to what the new Bond movie...

Fifty years after "Dr. No" first made him a movie star, James Bond returns to the big screen for the 23rd time with "Skyfall."
Daniel Craig's third film as the British super spy is already a massive hit in the UK, and it's been generating rave reviews from critics for everything from Sam Mendes' direction to Javier Bardem's latest villainous wig.
This time, Bond is tasked with tracking down a stolen file containing the names of undercover Nato operatives -- names that former MI6 agent-gone-rogue, Raoul Silva (Bardem), is threatening to reveal as a way to get revenge on the agency, and in particular, M (Judi Dench).
And to ensure you're properly prepped for one of the year's most hyped releases, here are 23 more things to know about 007's latest adventure.
1. It's been four years since the last Bond movie. Or, just long enough for people to forget about "Quantum of Solace.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Aptly, the opening shot in James Bond’s 23rd outing is of the inimitable spy emerging out of the shadows, what with the lukewarm response to Daniel Craig’s second film, Quantum of Solace, following the near-universal praise for series reboot Casino Royale. Bond has been forced to regroup in Skyfall, assembling the strongest cast and crew of any film in the series to date, for what is without question one of the very best entries. Much fuss was made about whether director Sam Mendes – who is unquestionably better-acquainted with drama than frantic action – could pull off the dual-identity directorship needed for a James Bond film, but from minute one, there’s no doubt.
Mendes seems keen to prove himself right out of the gate, flinging Bond (Craig) right into the fray, in pursuit of an operative who has stolen a much-coveted MI6 hard drive containing...
