In their fourth outing, it’s pretty much more of the same from the Young and Dangerous clan. Fans of the continuing series will still find a lot to enjoy in Young and Dangerous 4 (1997), but this is probably the weakest of the main series and doesn’t really offer anything new other than introducing some welcome characters to the franchise. This time we find our Hung Hing boys getting involved in a local war between Triad branches. The film begins with the marriage of Yee (Michael Tse) to Kk (Pinky Cheung), sister of The Legendary Tai Fei (Anthony Wong). We then move on to Thailand where the Branch Leaders are looking to meet with Mr Chiang (Alex Man), brother to Boss Chiang from the first...

Lesbian Vampire Warriors
Stars: Luxia Jiang, Wah Yuen, Chrissie Chow, Siu-hou Chin, Pinky Cheung, Rock Ji, Rachel Lam | Written and Directed by Dennis Law
Described as a “Twilight-inspired Chinese vampire thriller” Lesbian Vampire Warriors is as far from Twilight as you can get. It’s obvious advertising spiel of course to try get vampire fans to show some interest, but in a world where most vampire fans hate even the mention of Twilight it’s to be hoped this does not turn people off, because this film deserves more.
Ar is a vampire hunter, and very much human. She befriends a vampire Max who she agrees she’ll let live as long as she does not kill any humans. Along with Max comes her family, these vampires could be described as quite melodramatic as they spend most of the time wanting to feel something, but of course as they are...

Give director Dennis Law this much: while his last few films haven't actually been particularly good, the man knows how to cut an entertaining trailer. And he's at it again with his latest, the kung fu horror comedy Vampire Warriors.
Starring Jiang Lu Xia, Yuen Wah, Chrissie Chau, Chin Siu Ho, Pinky Cheung, and Xiong Xin Xin - many of them Law regulars - this one is looking to tap into that classic mid eighties vibe, when these sorts of intentional b films were a major part of Hong Kong's film output. And, true to the spirit of that age, the trailer for this has a bit of everything: kung fu, blood letting, goofy comedy and, heck, even a bit of lesbianism. Check it out below!

Property developer turned film maker Dennis Law continues his onslaught on Hong Kong cinemas with another genre outing in “Bad Blood”. As with his former outing “Fatal Move”, the triad thriller sees him working with acclaimed cinematographer Herman Yau and action choreographer Li Chung Chi, and reunites him with cast members and industry veterans Simon Yam, Eddie Cheung, Pinky Cheung, and Lam Suet. Law also manages to attract a few more action stars in the form of Andy On (recently in “True Legend”), Xiong Xinxin (“Once upon a time in China”), Ken Lo (also in the Jackie Chan films “Police Story 2” and “The Myth”) and rising martial arts talent Jiang Luxia (another “True Legend” alumnus), along with Tvb’s Bernice Liu and Chris Lai. The film kicks off in fine, action packed style with Tung Luen Shun gang boss Lok Cheung On (Eddie Cheung) being caught during a botched...

Fatal Move director Dennis Law’s latest triad-themed offering Bad Blood is up for purchase on DVD. Much of the main cast of ‘Fatal Move’ including Simon Yam, Eddie Cheung, Pinky Cheung, and Lam Suet, returned for this latest offering of gangland violence, chock full of martial arts action stars. A hard core gangster who-dunnit, about bloody infighting within a triad clan, on DVD and its region free! It would be rude not to. Synopsis: Crime lord Lok Cheung runs a smuggling ring in Hong Kong. He gets caught during a failed counterfeit money operation in Mainland China and is executed. After he's gone, a deadly struggle for power breaks out within the gang, with a series of murders and assassinations aimed at members of the Lok clan. One by one, the various sons and daughters, wives and mistresses, brothers and cousins fall as they turn on each other in paranoia.

With Hong Kong cinema not always being known for its sensitive side, a category III rated drama about child abuse and murder may not initially sound like a particularly appetising prospect. Thankfully, “A Very Short Life”, which was written and directed by “Fatal Move” helmer Dennis Law, takes a serious look at the taboo subject, and whilst following in many ways the old fashioned category III true crime blueprint, he generally eschews exploitation in favour of depth and sadness. Inevitably controversial upon its initial release, the film does have a feeling of being torn from the headlines, and draws upon tragic real life cases and events. The plot unfolds very much in traditional style, via flashbacks within flashbacks, and police interrogation and confession scenes. The main story is introduced and frequently intruded upon by a fairly needless wrap around of a cop called Cat (played by exploitation favourite Pinky Cheung,...
