When it comes to making features like this one, i love the idea of coming up with my own personal “100 Great Kung Fu Movies” of all time. It is tough choosing just 100 because you know there are many more great Kung Fu movies that are not on the list.
I have decided that to make the list, a movie must have a few hand to hand moments during fight scenes in the movies chosen. If for example its mainly sword play with one fight scene hand to hand it won’t make the list. Its old school “style” Kung Fu movies, not modern day settings.
I understand everyone will have their own personal favorites and some may not agree with my list and that’s fine because it’s nice to have different opinions on this genre which keeps it fresh and alive when having good debates.
Anyway, thank you...

What we lack more and more these days are epic fight scenes in the final part of kung Fu/Martial Art movies. We have seen less and less one on one fight scenes in the final battle over the past 15-20 years, which is a shame but we have seen recently a few flicks bringing that winning formula back.
I want to name a few of my favorite end fight scenes and please feel free to comment below, your favorite fight scenes and maybe they will be added to the future features. I only add fight scenes which i can find the clips for on youtube, so some classics might not be added to the lists.
1.Drunken Master 2 (1994)
Cast:Jackie Chan, Lau Kar Leung, Ti Lung, Anita Mui, Ken Lo, Andy Lau, Mark Houghton
Fight Choreographer: Lau Kar Leung, Jackie Chan
2.Ong Bak 2 (2008)

American distributor Well Go USA are usually pretty good at not tinkering with their titles names, so it’s a little surprising that the latest title (director Nopporn Watin’s martial arts action ‘Yamada: The Samurai of Ayothaya’) is heading for the light of day Stateside under the less than original Muay Thai Warrior. Still, considering it’s a great action flick - and their track record to date - we guess we can forgive them this one transgression. Based on actual events from the 17th century's Ayutthaya period, Muay Thai Warrior combines lush visuals with a cast of Olympic athletes to provide viewers some of the most stunning and realistic Muay Thai techniques ever filmed for the big screen. The cast includes Seigi Ozeki (The Odd Couple), Sorapong Chatree (Bko: Bangkok Knockout, Ong Bak 2 & 3), Winai Kraibutr (Bangkok Revenge), and newcomers Kanokkorn Jaicheun, Thanawut Ketsaro and Buakhao Paw Pramuk. Yamada: Way Of The Samurai
Stars: Seigi Ozeki, Kanokkorn Jaicheun, Sorapong Chatree | Written and Directed by Nopporn Watin
Yamada: Way of the Samurai, which is also known as The Samurai of Ayothaya, is apparently based on a true historic figure, depicting as it does the life of Yamada Nagamasa, a Japanese adventurer who, during the Ayothaya Era, gave up his homeland to protect the sovereignty of the Thai people. Betrayed and left for dead by treacherous Japanese forces, he finds a new family in a remote village and masters the devastating fighting art of Muay Boran (Thai boxing). Fearless, he ascends to the royal bodyguard of King Naresuan The Great, but will soon face his greatest ever battle against the elite Japanese warriors he once regarded as brothers…

Yamada is the latest release from DVD giants Cineasia, the movie was actually released in Thailand in 2010 and is now making it’s way to a wider audience. “Yamada Nagamasa lived from 1590 to 1630 and served in the courts of four kings during the reign of the Sukothai Dynasty in Ayutthaya. He was eventually granted a lordship and served as governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat”.
Plot
Yamada Nagamasa, a young 17th Century Samurai, came to be a soldier in the
Japanese volunteer regiment in Ayothaya (Thailand). After being critically injured
in battle, Yamada was taken to a warrior priest who imparted the knowledge of
Thai boxing and sword fighting. His expert ability with the blade combined with
his martial arts skills made him one of the best fighters of his time.
I have yet to see this movie, but from the trailer i will be picking this up very soon.

Ong Bak 3
Directed by: Tony Jaa, Panna Rittikrai
Starring: Tony Jaa, Sorapong Chatree
Rating: R
Release Date: January 14, 2011
Trailer Score: 6/10
My Thoughts: The trailer swings pretty uncontrollably from awesome to painful and whenever there’s even a hint of awkwardness, it usually points to more bad things than good. Except, I am a slavish devotee to Ong Bak: Thai Warrior and Ong Bak 2 was fine, too – Tony Jaa is supernatural and we don’t need a well-constructed script for him to impress the hell out of everyone…oh, and it opens on my birthday. So it doesn’t really signify that the trailer is cheesy in parts, badly directed in parts, and openly worshipful of its star/writer/co-director Tony Jaa, because I’m still going to see it. Not only that, I’ll probably make my friends take me for my birthday, so fun can be had by all.

Chicago – Even casual fans of the martial arts genre would be blown away by the action of the legendary Tony Jaa in “Ong Bak 2: The Beginning”. The drama of the piece is a little disappointing, but the action is ridiculously consistent and entertaining. The sequel along with the original 2005 “Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior” are now available on Blu-ray.
Blu-Ray Rating: 3.5/5.0
Tony Jaa totally kicks ass. There are rumors that he lost his mind in the Cambodian jungle while making “Ong Bak 2” but the film that resulted features an international star at the top of his particular game. Ultimately, “Ong Bak 2” is a bit frustrating due to a lack of narrative tissue but the fight sequences are simply amazing, especially in HD. These are some of the most rivetingly choreographed martial arts of not just this year, but the last several. Jaa is more than just a...
