The Irish Film Board backs production funding for the directoral debut from the Intermission and Boy A writer.
The directional debut from writer Mark O’Rowe (Intermission, Boy A) is among a number of projects backed by the Irish Film Board in its latest round of funding decisions.
O’Rowe will direct his own screenplay for relationship drama The Delinquent Season, which has been granted $707,220 (€650,000) in production funding. Parallel Films will produce.
The Delinquent Season received the largest single commitment from the Ifb in one of several projects backed by the board for production funding.
They include The Man Who Invented Christmas which will be directed by Barhat Nalluri (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) and scripted by Susan Coyne, which was given funding of $163,200 (€150,000). Parallel Films is producing.

The 27th edition of International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (Idfa) (Nov 19-30) opened last night with the world premiere of Heddy Honigmann’s Around the World in 50 Concerts - made to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
With guests ranging from Naomi Klein and British director Nick Broomfield to Star Trek’s George Takei, Jay Jay French from Twisted Sister and documentary legend D.A. Pennebaker, this year’s edition is shaping up to be a typically lively affair.
Idfa is also a key industry event. Over 300 distributors, sales agents and festival programmers are registered for the annual “Docs For Sales” bazaar.

On March 1st 1989 Metallica played at the Brendan Byrne Arena In New Jersey for their Damaged Justice tour. I was 16 years old and it happened to be my first concert of any kind. It was a lasting impression and one I looked back on fondly as Metallica presented their upcoming 3D IMAX concert/movie, Through The Never, in Hall H. The panel consisted of director Nimrod Antal (Predators) and star Dane Dehann (Chronicle) as well as all 4 members of the band. James Hetfield , Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo took the stage to a raucous ovation, one worthy of the greatest metal band in history.
