When Good Holiday’s Go Bad: Rise of the Fiend: “Halloween, that magical night that compels adults to act like children, children to gorge themselves and a host of creatures and ghouls, those nasty beasties that hide under your bed, in your closet or the deepest recesses of your mind, all come out to play, scaring and frightening their human victims; at least, that’s how it was in the old days.
Welcome to Halloween Hallow, a disturbing land where all the nefarious creatures that wander the world on Halloween night come to dwell during the off season. In this land of strange and weird creatures lives Jack, the only human ever allowed to live amongst them.

[Writer's note: While the main focus of Corona's Coming Attractions has always been to keep its pulse on mainstream and Hollywood movie productions, there exists a thriving, diverse indie film scene further out there; projects that have passionate creators, stars and crew but also face the challenges of not having enough resources or finances to solve all their problems as easily as the big players do. I've been approached by representatives for a lot of indies, asking for a chance to have a little bit of exposure for their hard work. "Indie Coming Attractions" will do just that and let you know about these productions. -- Patrick]
In production by Warrior Entertainment, Blood Fare is described by its creators as a "Civil War ghost story with a twist." It is the story of Corporal Henry Trout, a soldier that fought on the battlefields and died on the field of combat in 1861. In 2011, Trout's spirit will come face-to-face with his descendants five generations removed as the battle of Bull Run resumes upon a haunted battlefield. The lines between the living and the dead will become blurred and it will be upon Trout's great-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Chad, to face the legend of Charon the Ferryman, the infamous gatekeeper that escorts the souls of the dead to what lies beyond.
The Blood Fare production recently made the announcement that they had secured the involvement of Gil Gerard for the role of Professor Meade in their film. Gerard is best known for playing the role of Buck Rogers in the 1979 movie and subsequent network television series.

Seriously, are you suggesting that we don't?
Jessica M. Bair is the producer of the new horror film Blood Fare, which she describes as a "fast-paced, fun, and suspenseful ghost story, with a plot around the 150th anniversary of the Us Civil War, which we celebrate next year."
Blood Fare is the 4th independent genre feature film of lesbian filmmaker J.A. Steel.
Sultry comedian Bridget McManus, who will play 'Kayla', probably a villainess.
The film, which is in production, stars Gil Gerard (of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century fame) as Professor Meade, mentor to the protagonist Tyler, a lesbian PhD student in a committed relationship. Also joining the cast are three celebrity lesbians (celebrians? lesebrities?): Michelle Wolff (Dante’s Cove), Bridget McManus (Logo’s “That Time of the Month”) and Natalie Garcia (Showtime’s "The Real L Word" Live Lounge.)

Seriously? Some one is actually going to ask me if I'm going to have another Lesbian Main character in my lastest cheese fest, Blood Fare? Really? I thought we moved past questions like this when I released my third feature film Denizen on IndieFlix.
As you recall, the character of Deacon was a married lesbian who kicked some serious creature tushie. The straight critics actually Liked the movie. I think the formula works. So I'm sticking to it. At least for now. Now I just need a hot lesbian to play the main character...know any hot lesbians? Send them my way. We're talking chicks that the DoorQ's can admire and that would make the ladies and straight boys drool. I'm too old for this "main character" stuff...so don't let it even cross your mind. I'm sticking behind the camera on this one.
We are shooting Blood Fare in yes,...

Director and doorQer J.A. Steel's latest feature, Denizen, has jumped to the top of the IndieFlix charts. Denizen follows a group of scientists and soldiers as the work to stop a mysterious creature from destroying a small town. The film stars Julie Lisandro (Cheerleader Massacre), Glen Jensen (Fingerprints, Soul's Midnight), Ben Bayless and Jody Mullins in this latest horror-action shocker. AnythingHorror.com, said of the film: "But once in a while we get a really ambitious indie project like Denizen, which is written, directed, produced, and edited by J.A. Steel (she also did the fight choreography, the stunts, and was the underwater camera operator). Denizen shakes off the slasher plot-line in favor of the “creature feature” story and has a cast of 39 actors. That’s a f**king lot for an indie feature (Steel even uses military vehicles and a lot of props)....if you’re looking for some...

Outlantacon. Outlantacon…Soooooo much fun. We screened Denizen at the second annual Lgbt geekstravaganza in Atlanta at “Outlantacon.” It was really cool. I went with Jessica M. Bair who works with me over at Tunis Productions. We flew out Thursday from Los Angeles. As always our flight was delayed, but we got word in time to fest director Edward DeGruy that we were going to be late. It was really cool, he met us at the airport with a groovy rainbow sign that read “J.A. Steel Outlantacon”. He then drove Jess and I to the Hotel where the convention was being held, the Holiday Inn – Perimeter in Atlanta. Being the publicity whore that I am, I talked the whole drive to the Hotel to reporter Dyana Bagley at “The Georgia Voice”.
Since I am always constantly hungry, after we checked in and dropped our bags, Ed ran me to Burger King.

Denizen, the third feature from action-oriented filmmaker J.A. Steel (The Third Society, Salvation), has completed post production. Starring Julie Lisandro (Cheerleader Massacre) and Glen Jensen (Fingerprints), Denizen is about a group of scientists, who have to stop a mysterious creature from attacking a small town.
Drawing on her experience in her first feature film, the action indie The Third Society, Steel brings back a tough motorcycle-riding main character in the form of Sierra Deacon. It is Deacon's team, consisting of the highly skilled scientists Dexter Maines (Ben Bayless) and Dallas Murphy (Jody Mullins), which has to support the locals, led by Callie Calhoun (Julie Lisandro), to save their town from the creature. After several deaths, a special Army Unit led by General Jernigan (Glen Jensen) is called in to contain the creature. Or if necessary, to destroy the town...

On the evening of 4 November 2009, Hrc Utah was proud to join TransAction and the Utah Pride Center for a Wine & Cheese Gathering for board and staff of allied organizations, such as Equality Utah. The event started Transgender Awareness month off with a very informative and insightful presentation on Transgender Awareness / Transgender 101.
The round-table type discussion by the representatives of the several Lgbt organizations illustrated the need for Transgender education in the community, and in the general public, for inclusive equality. Hrc Utah members participating in the discussion on Transgender issues included Valerie Larabee, Hrc Utah Dinner Co-Chair and Federal Club member & Utah Pride Center Executive Director; Marina Gomberg, Hrc Utah Membership and Community Events Co-Chair & Utah Pride Center Director of Development & Marketing; Jessica Bair, Hrc Board of Governors; and J.A. Steel, Hrc Federal Club Council member and filmmaker.

It's 10:30 am and I have a editing hangover. Still in Los Angeles after two days of Denizen editing (for those of you joining the program - Denizen is a feature about a creature that eats people). Jessica (aka Associate Producer and "the woman") convinced me this morning to go to the gym at 6:30. Really? 6:30am..okay - only for a hot blonde and she is wearing short-shorts and boots to the con. She did the title sequence with the Denizen comics as the reference for Wayne yesterday - so it's been a good 24hours.
