True Detective: Night Country: Part 6 (2024)
Season 4, Episode 6
10/10
Negative reviewers just didn't get it!
22 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The main focus of the series is really about the exploitation of native people and the abuse done to them and their native land-all in the name of corporate profit.. Can we say, timely?

Contrary to the opinions of low reviewers, this series did not romanticize suicide. Viewers were obviously incapable of understanding the depth of an indigenous woman's soul, her spirituality, and the connectedness she shares with her community. Also contrary to negative reviewers, the ending DID tie up many loose ends and was actually a perfect way to exact revenge for Annie and the multiple crimes committed against this community of indigenous women. Ambiguity was necessary as some questions could not be answered, and a concrete ending would not have aligned with the truth facing native tribes and MMIW. This was *their story* that could be told to future generations.

The strong double female leads, the passionate protests led by native women, as well as the show's creators being women, probably did NOT sit well with men who are threatened by the voices of strong women and their never-ending fight for equality and sovereignty over their own bodies. An ongoing sad commentary facing Women in the (not so) "United" States.

Get Smart: The Day They Raided the Knights (1969)
Season 4, Episode 16

A prophetic episode
20 April 2023
My disdain for George Wallace had me laughing out loud when the (uncredited) Black man at the Redemption Center told 99 he'd like the George Wallace poster. 99 tells him, "That will be one book." When he hands TWO books to 99 she tells him, "No, you gave me two books; the Wallace poster is only one book." His perfect reply is, "Yes, but I'd also like a set of darts!" Also interesting, is a comment made by one of the KAOS agents who calls for his fellow agents to, "pick up arms for a revolution to storm Congress and attack the Capital." When this episode aired in 1969 it was an absurd notion that a group of insurgents would attack the U. S. Capital and launch an insurrection. Little did they know that 52 years later it actually happened. And... it was the "law and order" far-right, Republicans who were the instigators of the January 6, 2021 U. S. Capitol attack - a mob of Trump supporting extremists who created their own brand of "chaos" that resulted in five people dying, either shortly before, during, or following the event.

Pathetic

Pathetic... just like Scott Baio's "acting" ability, as well as his self-inflated opinions. Don't waste your time.

1 star rating is really TOO generous
1 September 2020
This has to be THE very worst "remake" I have seen in my entire life. That this piece of garbage could remotely be compared to "Charade" is ridiculously laughable. There's nothing else to say except this was absolutely TERRIBLE! Don't waste your time!

Excellent 1960's spy espionage!
8 May 2020
This is a well written, well acted, spy action drama. The stories are interesting and historically accurate. The three main characters, operating as a high level ALLIED team, bring their individual specialties and expertise to each of their missions.

The show is a cross between a more intelligent, less comedic Hogan's Heroes and Mission Impossible. If you listen closely you'll hear some iconic Lalo Schifrin music riffs inserted into the score. Schifrin is the prolific genius composer who wrote the Mission Impossible theme as well as hundreds of other recognizable film and TV scores!

If you like spy, espionage stories set during the time period of WW2, this show is for you! Highly recommended!

Hilarious episode!
30 August 2019
Jess Oppenheimer, creator, producer, and head writer of 'I Love Lucy' fame, wrote and directed this delightfully uproarious episode! Carol Burnett is at the top of her game as the special guest star, and Don Adams is fabulously true to form! Great episode!

Great funny line and accurate comparison to Kaos!
24 August 2019
This is a fun episode, but the following dialogue made it worthy of a Top 10 rating.... Max: "Tisha, there's an organization of shrewd, determined, men who have been trying to get control of this country for a number of years. Perhaps you've heard of them." Tisha: "Oh, you mean the Republicans!"

Some people can't understand this great episode and series
5 June 2019
First off, kudos to the writers, actors, producers, directors, etc., for this compelling drama. It's beyond refreshing to see women cast as lead characters who are brilliant at their craft! I certainly hope there will be more seasons of this thoughtful, intelligent series! Thank you!

Second, to the yabba dabba dip who wrote the uninformed, crass review. It's obvious you don't understand GLBTQ history, and why it was part of this storyline. If you had expressed sincerity in wanting to understand WHY this is significant, I would have been more than happy to share some facts on the subject. However, I will refrain from educating you since you don't impress me as someone who cares about anything other than yourself, and your precious politically "incorrect" beliefs.

Excellent movie and accurate account of a dark time in our country. Interesting how relevant this is today amid the chaos of the current administration in 2018! Highly recommend!

What did I just watch?

Oh my God, there was absolutely no rhyme or reason to this movie. I might have enjoyed this movie at age five, but as a functioning adult I found it to be utterly ridiculous.

Very strange ending
7 July 2018
The ending of The Perjured Parrot seemed anti-climactic compared to other Perry Mason episodes. And, supposedly Robert Young appeared in this episode as an uncredited townsperson-I sure did not find his appearance-did anyone else see him?

Politics aside
30 March 2018
This is not a political statement-truth is I just can't stand Roseanne. I've tried to like her but her entire persona is just plain offensive! I don't find her funny and her acting skills are STILL greatly lacking! Will not be tuning in to this one!
