The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
The best movie I 've ever seen
Prison is a scary place. It changes people, breaks and cripples their body and soul. For many, getting into such a place is worse than death, or at least the end of a past life forever. This film shows that even in such a terrible place, a person is able to survive, adapt and, having overcome all the trials, break free.
Escape from Shawshank is the best film adaptation of the works of Stephen King. If the horror adaptations of the famous author are somehow unlucky, then this is on the contrary - a wonderful film.
The main character is an accountant, innocently convicted of murdering his wife, who ends up in Shawshank Prison, filled with villains and scoundrels of all stripes both inside and outside the cells. From the first days, all the unbearable weight of this place falls on the hero, capable of breaking even the most persistent, but he accepts all this and endures, adapting to the terrible reality, and later begins to hatch an escape.
The film very accurately conveys the prison world of the USA with all its unsightly sides and gloomy details. This place is able to scare no worse than monsters from other books by Stephen King, and the more you admire the hero, who, when faced with these horrors, is able to overcome them and emerge victorious thanks to his will, intelligence and ingenuity. Due to the competent narration, saturation of actions and tension, the picture is very interesting to watch and the story of Andy Dufresne's escape from his personal hell captures and does not let go until the very end. The picture is complemented by excellent actors who perfectly fit into their images and competent camerawork and directing.
